I am not exactly sure how XBOX live Gold is superior to the basic PSN anyway, after they add cross-game chat. If anything, exclusive games on PSN are more likely to have dedicated servers.
Resistance 3 and Last Guardian were the biggest missing peices.
Possibly Last Guardian will wait till 2011 - they are not going to release that game until its perfect
Sad to see no Insomniac game,after so many great exclusives from them, wonder if they are no longer part of the core Sony developer group,
The 3DS technology is exciting, the glass-free 3D tech on a handheld will give them a massive edge. But its worth noting that a large part of their show - improved graphics on the 3DS, better 3rd party support - is essentially catching up on the PSP which already had these. Its obviously still amassive improvement over last year, but while the handheld show was impressive, the wii section was average.
Hardly anyone will pay up. The free PSN service is good enough, only fools and XBOX owners would pay $300 over 6 years for some incremental online featuers.

The best series on the PS2 I never played, the remake I would have dreamed for. Everything else on the Sony conference be damned, just Sly Raccoon makes my day.
This is a great idea - I suspect lots of gamers would not mind having a 2nd controller anyway for coop.

Well, I always wondered about those countless informed articles in 2007 that gave very clear reasons about why the PS3 is technically inferior to the 360. Something to do about the Cell being good only for floating points operations or something and totally unsuitable for gaming, the graphics card being weak, BR being slow to load, the split RAM, "difficult to code for," everything about the PS3 sounded like a disaster. Nobody really clarified how Uncharted 2 and KZ2 somehow became ...
I bought one few months back, a used console (2009 version) mainly to play Mass Effect.
Leave aside the fact that I have ethernet cable strung around my living room, it sounds like a jet engine about to take off, had to pay £30 for 3 months of Live Gold and rechargeable batteries. What I am really pissed about is that it has scratched 2 out of 4 games I own, including Splinter Cell (thats another £30 down the drain, plus the flustration of being 2 levels away from game end) ...

Mine is 3. Bought 360 second hand, scratched 2 discs (Mass Effect and Splinter Cell) in 1 month.
I think its probably safer to buy a PS3 second hand, the defect rates and problems on used PS3s would be lower than new 360s.
They need to try 2v2v2v2v2, that would make it more frantic and interesting. With just 2v2 there is a tendency to camp and it becomes a bit painful in plain 2v2 if the 2 teams are very mismatched in skills.
There is nothing wrong in advertising
The problem is, MS is spending a lot of money on advertising, and have precious little to show for games other than the next generic Halo and Gears
Sony are spending little on advertising but are bringing out game after game after game
So what do you want to play on your console? Ads or games?

Anyone wants to bet the highlight of the MS event is not going to be any new, innovative game or tech, just yet another PS3 3rd party going multiplat? My bet is on FF Versus 13 or FF14.
Motorstorm 2 was a big improvement over 1 - splitscreen, graphics, more varied environments - but this looks monstrous. The best thing is the story mode will show the city getting destroyed bit by bit, so the race environments will keep changing. Fascinating.
Real numbers are rubbish
My fave games - which have been the most fun - Ratchet CIT, Uncharted 1/2, Mass Effect, KZ2, MAG
Combined sales? 15 odd millions, barely more than a Halo, GT, Mario, GTA. Should I have played instead some games with more sales numbers?
A lot of people talk about sales as if thats so important, especially for games like Halo or CoD. This game proves that sales have bothing to do with how much fun you have in a game. Played so many games on the PS3, nothing comes close to this in terms of sheer fun. Teamwork, tactics, discipline are all that matters, you can actually win games for your team with barely a few kills by playing for the team.
I may be seeing things, but I think there are 3D TVs available on Amazon for < £1000 (Samsung sets)
Ultimately, with a large population still on SD and even those with HDTVs likely to change sets in 5-7 years, we could see a large number of people with 3D TVs in 2-3 years. Its just not going to happen now.
