Who would have expected it - the biggest perfectionist in gaming, and not have interior views on all cars?
We are talking great games with bad graphics, not average games with bad graphics and great sales
Another one for the list: MAG. The greatest game ever that had average graphics (by PS3 standards).
"Either way, it’s nice to see Sony fans change their tune"
The problem with this statement is, its not Sony fans that changed their tune. From day one of the PS3 we heard about how the 360 was superior in the graphics department and therefore the PS3 was a failure, while Eurogamer brought out a series of articles on how PS3 games were slightly blurred or 2fps slower.
Suddenly, when Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 came out at the same time as ODST and L4D2, and A...
Graphics: Just about the same level as the PSP, a system launched 5 Years ago
Games: expect the same fare (some of it quite terrific, mind), plus 3rd party games like MGS which are already available on PSP. Again, just closing the gap on the PSP
Controls: The touchscreen is neat, but as a lot of people have already pointed out, having one analog button sucks.
The 3D tech was a bombshell. But thats about it. Anything else they are improving on the 3DS, they a...
In my book, MAG > CoD.
What we have is a game that didn’t sell 10% as much as Halo/CoD, which has a rather small online player community, but boy is it a blast to play. Thankfully, the CoD noobs have mostly left MAG now. What you have instead is an intense tussle between squads that are equally matched and good at working together.
I was lucky to be in a match yesterday between two strong clans and some of the flanking moves were breathtaking.
“the xbox live is worth the 40-50 buck a YEAR!!! “
Kotick would claim CoD is worth twice as much as any other game – if he can sell it at $20 more with a 10% drop in sales, it makes sense for him. Just like it makes sense for MS to charge $50 a year / $300 lifetime for XBOX Live, which doubles revenues per console, even if it means 10% lower console sales.
“everything is easy and smooth from sending invites, joining friends on the go,party chat up to 8 people, etc.” <...
Deus Ex is still among the best games made. Probably a better action-RPG than even Mass Effect.
With my lack of skill at gaming, I would love it if he introduced a pay-per-kill pricing where you are charged say $5 for every 1000 kills. So if some dude kills me 5 times, the joke will be on him instead "thats gonna cost you"
They should copy the 3D tech in PSP2, add a second analog and some other decent features to beat 3DS.
As the two guys above said, it would mean ripping off Nintendo's idea. So what's wrong with that? Ninty are geniuses at gaming controls and interface, they invented the analog, the best anlog controller (Gamecube), wireless controler (Gamebird), motion controls and
That would be an issue, if copying Nintendo is all Sony did. But gaming is not just about controls and i...
I am sure smart young guys like him recommended telecom stocks in 2000 and touted CDOs as the best thing evar in 2006.
Though I agree with his views and I think it was rude to rubbish his opinion just because he is young, imho degrees and research can never substitute for experience. This may be great, but even the wii seemed like something awesome at first. I think this technology would need some more refinement - and its probably going to be some other company that does it, not Nint...
No, he was a jerk. He didnt guess it was Twisted Metal, he was told about it by Jaffe and supposed to keep mum about it, and he spilled the beans like a fool.
I wish I was a programmer, so that I could really understand what Guerrilla, ND and Santa Monica are doing so that their games look so good.
Except for the "no vehicles", Halo 3 in a nutshell.
Agree though that the gritty look and story of R1 single-player was better - but theonline was still the best so far after MAG and KZ2, awesome fun in both coop and compegtitive.
You are right. But you should still buy it because its a technical showcase and the best way to wow guests. I for instance am a noob at driving games and I know I would never be able to control the cars in GT5, but still a day one purchase.
Well, no wonder the 3DS had a large line-up - a bucnh of games that are either ported from last-gen consoles or which have not yet started development
The 3D Tech is awesome though. Sony should copy it, and add a 2nd analog for PSP2. It would have the added benefit of making a few people here berserk at Sony for copying Nintendo.
Nintendo came out strong with the 3DS. But in terms of the graphics and 3rd party titles, all they did was close the gap with the PSP.
And whats getting obscured bu all the 3DS hype is that Nintendo continues to fail hard on the wii front. Sony's PS3 game lineup was far superior to what they had for the wii.
It may be fair to say Nintendo won the handheld round, Sony won the large console battle. Its up to Sony now to come out with something in the PSP2 to counter...
Probably they did. But unlike the celebrities being paid by MS, Beckham actually counts and can move consoles, probably the most well known footballer in the world.
The #OPTION# to pay $50, whether its value or not, is not a relevant argument - because the free PSN is as good as the paid XBOX Live Gold service
There are two parts to the 3DS story
The 3D, which is an amazing bit of technology, because it’s simple and does 3D without glasses.
The other part is improved graphics and 3rd party support – and when you think about it, more a case of low expectations rather than anything special. Basically, Nintendo has just caught up with Sony's 7-year old handheld after being badly lacking for several years.
Why should we, as gamers, want gaming companies to make huge profits? Why should we favour Nintendo, selling a last-gen machine for $249, over Sony selling a $299 console that has infinitely greater processing and graphics card power, next-gen disc drive, hard disc, much better online, and supports a larger number of in-house studios which create new IPs?
And this might be an issue if Sony were making such huge losses that they would need to close down PS. In fact, for what t...
