Not bad for a new IP with very little marketing behind it. The game is a lot of fun and reminds me of something we would have seen in the PS2 era, gameplay-wise. Which is a good thing, because it is very original in design. Graphically, it is gorgeous... especially on the Pro. The amount of physics and particles on display is mind blowing. One of the few titles this generation that actually uses physics as a gameplay feature. The only other one I can think of, is Just Cause 3.

Exactly. Consoles are not dying, they are selling faster than any other generation before. What's hurting console gaming is what Chris said. Patches giving developers a pass on completing games and micro transactions that allow gamers to unlock material already on the game disc.

If anything in gaming is dying, it's the handheld market. There is simply no reason for it, with cell phones being more powerful and having games that play and look like console titles, yet...

Yea, Payday is cool, though when I think Starbreeze, only one game comes to mind... Where the hell is a new Riddick game?

This is nuts! Its almost as if they finished with the graphics and said, you know... we have some rendering time left in every frame... what can we add to fill out the scene to use every ounce of the Pro/ PS4s power?

Cant wait to play this game!

I was hoping for a Pro update for it. Against popular belief, its not a bad game, it just launched with some performance and AI issues that were all but fixed via patches. This Pro patch should make it very enjoyable and gorgeous with a resolution boost plus HDR support... and it can be had for $10. I suggest that, when this patch hits... you give it a try. If anything, it is a cheap way to experience HDR.

I am very impressed with these guys not giving up on this game. With all...

Seems like quite a few games got patches today... Watchdogs, Hitman, Deus Ex and Battlefield 1.

Great to hear! I love these games. They are just mindless fun and have some of the best graphics. Croteam is one talented developer. Cant wait to see what they come up with for us next.

I just finished the game and it was incredible on the Pro. It amazes me we now have the ability to play, what looks like, a Pixar movie in realtime. Not to mention, the game was long and fun the entire way through. Im hoping for many more sequels in the years to come.

This is exactly what it is. They keep their games in endless beta and rely on the customers to report bugs and brainstorm features. Without the ability, in Gabes own words, to update their game 6 times in one day... they cant release incremental patches to patch each issue on its own and fix issues that one patch that day may have caused.

I understand the issue Valve and other developers have with this, because this is the game world we live in now. Where you can release a ...

The budget was just in reference to someone saying that they wanted most if not all buildings enterable and explorable. What I said was, even with GTA Vs budget, they couldn't do it. I wasn't talking about any game being good or bad, as far as open world is concerned. This was strictly in reference to open worlds having more buildings to go into and explore and why we haven't seen it yet. If Rockstar couldn't do it on almost $300 million, and I'm sure they wanted to, it...

Checkerboard is not only working, it looks good. If you are playing on a 50 or 60 inch TV from 10 or 15 feet away, it looks like it's natively rendering at 4K. I would rather have checkerboard rendering or temporal injection than to have them use all of the power, via brute force, to render native 4K. That way, the extra power of the system can be used for more and better effects, longer draw distance, better lighting, shadowing and physics.

I think Sony went to smart ...

Fully agree. The problem is, not every developer has GTA V's budget. So it's kind of hard to populate the area with AI that interacts and also allow for dozens, if not hundreds, of interiors to be explored. You are talking a lot of work to model one entire house, not to mention a dozen or more, without duplicating layouts. Now, try to do that with an apartment building and a business building and multiple malls, plus a ton of businesses. All the sudden, the task seems almost impossib...

Agreed! Ive been waiting to play the single player portion of the game, hoping theyd put out a Pro patch. Id be happy with 1440p, push out the draw distance, better shadows and get rid of the aliasing and shimmering. Also, HDR. If any game deserves it, its this one.

With that, Id be one happy camper and may not play another game for quite some time to come.

One last thing... open the casino and race track beside it already!

I changed out my system drive for a 525GB SSD, then bought a 6TB Western Digital external drive from Staples for $90 on clearance(if you live close to a Staples, I suggest you go and see if they have any there... you will not get a better deal on a 6TB external drive and it is fast, 177MB/ sec sustained over 12 hours).

So, now I have 500GBs of system storage and 6TBs of external, which should last me the life of the Pro. I downloaded the entire library of games I bought and...

Looks like a tiny bit higher resolution and an added detail layer with scratches, added dirt, rocks, etc... Its something, but Im not sure the jump that most higher end PC owners were looking for. I think what we are looking at here is the lowest common denominator taking precedence. Though, I dont know what more anyone can expect from a game that came out almost a year and a half ago. Its not like Bethesda is seeing any more money from this update. This was strictly fan service and a boost f...

Photo mode is always a nice addition in any game, as it gives you a great way to enjoy and share the visuals. Plus, it gives you another form of entertainment within the game itself. Any option any developer can give us, in order to get the shots we want... is a good one. Especially in a game like this, that already looks so incredible. I also love the ability to hide the main character, so you can take awesome vista shots. With that feature and the PS4s 4.50 update allowing us to use our pho...

Im with others, who love the option to have no HUD. Its irritating when all you want to do is explore d enjoy the environments and visuals. Especially if you like to take pictures, in game. It would be nice if every game gave you the option to make HUD elements dynamic. That way, when you need them in game... they are there. But, when you dont, they disappear and give you an unobstructed view of the incredible visuals that the developer made for us.

Great stuff!

I agree with everyone else here. Even the games, like Hitman, that are running at 1440p and upscaled, look incredible. Youd be hard pressed to tell the difference between them and native 4K. Especially at TV viewing distance. Ive been extremely impressed by everything Ive seen running on Pro. Even the native 1080p games that have been given graphics upgrades, like Paragon, look great.

At the Pros price point, youd be hard pressed to build a PC to do the same. We are getting...

Agreed. I would rather them use this checkerboard technique and give us better framerates with more and higher quality effects and longer draw distances. I think the games running at 1440p look incredible.
