Like any of these features in any customized CPU or GPU, they are there to help, but they wont magically double any CPU or GPUs throughput. Cerneys comment on 8.4Tflops was a strategic move by Sony to help cushion what they knew was coming from Microsofts camp. Something to reassure casual gamers that they were making a smarter move to keep costs down. Though, most hardcore gamers already knew that it was nonsense. That most calculations done in modern AAA titles are of the FP32 nature. Dont ...
I think you are probably close. Though, it would be awesome to have a 1080p/60fps option on the Pro and 1440p/60fps option on the X. I beat the game on the PS4, but never played the DLC. I think I am going to play the Hearts Of Stone DLC on the Pro and Blood & Wine on the X. Getting a little slice of greatness from both machines.
I didnt get a chance to play this last gen. Had actually forgotten about it til now. Glad its getting a remaster. Im hoping it gets the X treatment, with the high res textures from the PC in 4K, with all the bells and whistles. It definitely deserves it. I would also like Read Dead to get a 4K remaster.
This is article does not inform us on any new information that isnt already known. The author not once tells us any real customizations that were done to the CPU. He just tells us that there were some done, obviously he doesn’t know what they are, but he knows they will help CPU throughput and possibly offload some of the calculations to the GPU.
Something that 99% of the population already knew. If you’re going to claim that you’re going through some of the customizations ...
Agreed. Ive always loved building in any game. Making a home in a structure you find and decorating it how you like. It may seem pointless in a game like Far Cry 5, with it being more action oriented... but it doesn’t make it any less fun. Im hoping for some sort of survival mode, where you have to eat, sleep, find shelter and defend that shelter from attacks and take over. I love survival mode in any game that has it. Its you against the world and survival of the fittest.
The realism in the interiors and exteriors is just mind blowing. Im hoping that most objects have physics attached to them, so that gunfire and explosions can manipulate their locations and possibIy be used to dispatch of enemies. Nothing like shooting a coffee cup that flies across the room into an enemies head. LoL. I cant imagine how good this is going to look on the PC, Pro and X.
Note to Ubisoft: Realtime reflections in the windows and door glass. Everything else scre...
Exactly. I dont beleve any TVs on the market right now support HDMI 2.1, and if they do... they are using trickery to get it to you. Next year, Im guessing is when we will start to see it natively.
I hope so, as it was one of my favorite games in the entire history of gaming. Id be down for it, but only if it does support the mouse and keyboard on the X. There is too much precise and time sensitive input, for it to be controlled decently with a gamepad.
So the 4K mode is native and the Enriched mode is temporal 4K? Thats pretty impressive. I was under the impression that the Enriched mode would be running at 1080p or maybe 1440p. Im going to play in the Enriched mode, if the sharpness isnt dialed back too much. Seeing the gameplay videos from the X in 4K via my 4K screen... was awe inspiring! Its just nuts how good it looks.
The real star is the 4K textures. Wow, do they look good. Im interested to know what is going to be different in the lower resolution, better graphics mode. I wish they wouldve made a 1440 or 1600p 60fps mode. The hardware should be able to handle it. Even so, Im interested to know if the 1080p/ 60fps mode will keep the high res textures. Because I think I would probably choose that mode, if it were the case.
How are they leaving their current fanbase in the dust? You are getting and playing the exact same games. They just look better on the X. You have the ability to buy one, if you think you are missing out on something. But, truthfully, you are only really missing out if you have a 4K TV. If you dont, you will definitely get a sharper picture with better texturing, possibly even a higher framerate... at 1080p. But it isnt going to change the game. Exactly the same, just prettier to look at on t...
Heres the thing, Im a fan of the X. Love that they went nuts with the hardware and I preordered 2... but Microsoft only has a few development houses. So, max, they have what? 3-4 games in the works? One being Crackdown. So, it still doesnt leave them with much... and once those games come out, then gamers will have to wait another how many years for exclusives?
Microsoft needs to invest in new software companies, plain and simple. Though, I know they wont. They are using ba...
True, but Microsoft is being smart and building support for the most used engines right in their SDK. Which makes utilizing the power of the X as easy as playing with graphics settings on the PC. So, it should help many developers easily push the system.
I agree. Then Microsoft comes with something more powerful than it and then it starts over again. My point being, that every system takes time to utilize... whether it be a mid gen upgrade or new gen altogether. This system wars BS is ridiculous, as its that very competition that drives the marketplace. Sony and Microsoft fans should be happy for each other... as its their best that brings out the best in any competing system and company.
Its stagnation that brings repetiti...
If the fact that this system is almost twice as powerful as the Pro doesn’t convince you that the extra $100 is worth it, nothing will. The system is a bargain at $499. Especially considering what a PC with similar specs would cost.
And this ridiculous misconception that Assassins Creed is using checkerboard, the system must suck! Origins started development in 2014, just a few months after the original PS4 launched. The X wasnt even a thought. So, its highly doubtful that ...
I truly think developers either dont implement AI at all or just dont research its possibilities. It doesnt help that console CPUs this gen have basically halted all AI and physics advancements. Theyre simply not powerful enough to do anything significant in those areas. They are having difficulty enough keeping framerates stable.
I think AI can be as simple as text files. Where AI thats in proximity to witness the players actions gets information stored in their personal t...
Agreed.
LoL. Wow. Preorders are more than any other Xbox system released. Microsoft and retailers scrambling to find more to sell and yet its the least desirable system ever released? If you want to see the least desirable system ever released, look back to the Atari Jaguar. There was a system that was doomed from the start. Lack of great games and third party investment killed it. Its very telling, when even the $700 3DO outsold it. And, the 3DO is a perfect comparison, as it showed that millions of...
No developer in their right mind is going to use parity between the two systems. All developers want gamers to see their game in its best light, especially if their games have a PC conterpart to pull high resolution textures from. The only way I see anybody doing parity, is if they are being paid a ton of money by Sony. Even then, it would be instantly apparent theve done so and they run the risk of pissing off a lot of people on the Xbox side...
The real question, as a dev...
I would cancel my X preorder and pay an extra $50-$100 for an X version like this.
