It's not that I love MS... It's that I like Sony less.

Thank you Mako. It can be easy to forget how a streaming service works when a person's agenda is simply, "MS bad, Sony good".

Yeah, I remember how much more powerful it was than PS1, but they used the 2D processors as a way of texture mapping 3D objects and it was a real pain to program for. Saturn's potential was never realized because of the difficulty that came along with programming for it, and it also made emulation difficult as well.

At least we get to play games with Blast Processing again!

MS doesn't do generational consoles anymore. When "XB4" comes out, it becomes the lead platform and all your games go with you. XB1 will probably get phased out at that point, leaving the 1X as the budget console. The 1X architecture is quite different from the XB1; it doesn't even use the same memory architecture.

Sony doesn't have that luxury in this generation because the Pro is just a more powerful PS4. Same everything just more of it. I have ...

Kind of off topic, Cigi, but I see what you're saying about the future of things being advantageous for MS. That's more of a long term thing though, and even a turnaround at E3 this year would not yield results that have any immediate impact on Sony. Sony has got games for days and MS only has a handful at the moment.

To your point, if all this work MS out into the notion of BC/FC pays off though then it will break the cycle of starting over at the beginning of a ...

Ah, thanks! I thought you were suggesting they make Far Cry 3rd person instead but I wasn't sure.

I can agree with what you're saying about realism specifically when it comes to the animations, but the Doom-style approach fits better with a one man army, run and gun style of gaming like Far Cry IMO. In these types of games the protagonist usually fires from the hip like Rambo which is something real soldiers seldom, if ever, do.

Plenty of things happened before Fable too so a prequel would also do nicely. At the minimum, get the guns and pirates out and let the magic, swords, and bows become the focus again. Especially with SoT filling the Pirates' boots.

I think you owe drugs an apology, as they are not responsible for this type of behavior.

Honestly, the combat has always been great but it's cool that they're updating things a bit so it doesn't feel exactly the same again.

Damn straight! The DLC is going to be freaking awesome, especially when I can make maps filled with zombies and aliens!!!

More games need to learn from Turn 10 and decouple their physics framerate from their visuals. Then 30fps isn't too big of a deal. Forza Horizon is 360fps for physics and 30fps for visuals and it's both beautiful and responsive. Sure it's a compromise, but choosing how to use power always is.

Honestly, I say the longer they wait, the better. They're in no position to rush things with their current success and would only piss off some people who bought the Pro. It's not worth it.

I prefer Xbox, but let's face it; In a best case scenario MS announces new 1st party studios acquisitions and several games, but it still won't be a significant impact to Sony for at least a few years anyways. And that's a world-stunning performance by MS I'm t...

@ Godmars

Why are you so naïve all the time? You know that if you, "...apply your own version of common sense..." that it isn't common sense anymore? Personally I would call that living in a fantasy, but I suppose you are still entitled to choose where you want to live.

"there are no examples of FP (yet). "

I assume you meant FC? There is an example already, this is from 2008:

Future-proofing did work out well when it was implemented properly, like when PS2 launched. MS doing away with console generations is just an evolution of the same concept. The way MS designed the 1X ensures 100% compatibility going forwards (hence the term Forwards Compatibility), yet it won't require the original hardware like PS2 and PS3 started out with inside and it won't require an emulator either. It just works because it was designed that way.

Kind of, Eonjay. The 32X was different in that it didn't enhance an existing library and only played exclusive 32X games.

Interesting!

The Xbox One was originally designed to be upgradeable, and the 1X was an idea in 2012 that evolved into a separate console instead of an add-on.
