GTA was in London before so they should go back there, but do a scaled down Europe. Plenty of good gangster movies have been made in that setting to parody like The Itallian Job, Snatch, or Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.
I can't link videos with the XB1 browser, but I'll tell you about Far Cry 2. The clouds were dynamic with lighting that changed based on weather conditions as storms developed, and wind even picked up as a storm came across the landscape. I believe there were even thunderstorms once in a while. Also, if you watched the direction of the wind, you could light brush fires and burn a group of bad guys to death with one as the wind blew it through their camp. Just Cause had a similar des...
You'd know why if you watched the GDC presentation MS gave on the topic. They admitted it was still buggy, that they were working hard to patch it soon, and that many features which haven't been implemented yet would be over the course of this year.
Yes, it can move lots more than anything else ever seen in gaming!
I take it you never played Far Cry 2? Just Cause 1,2,3?
In the long run, PC and Xbox will become synonymous with one another. It'll be like choosing an automatic or a manual when buying a car. You're fooling yourself if you believe that PC gamers are gaming like they always have. What did they game like before the internet? What did they game like before Steam? What did they game like before they could play on their TV's from the couch? PC is constantly evolving, and so is console gaming, so rather than alienating either group it is...
Think about this for a minute: Lots of 3rd party games are coming out this generation only for PS4 and PC. With UWP, if you develop for PC you will automatically have a game ready for XB1 as well. Now consider how many games are made for PC only. PC has more exclusives than MS or Sony combined. I swear, people who don't see the value of the UWP are only looking at what XB1 is losing and ignoring what it will be gaining from this merger between two ecosystems.
Or the Move controllers.
That's an interesting theory. If they coupled that with a 4k Blu Ray player and a better HDMI output, I could see the rational in what you're saying.
If you watch the full DX12 advancements video from GDC, it's interesting to see that many features of DX12 are still in development. They put out a timeline that shifts FL12.1 features and Shader Model 6 to the fall as a release window for developers to even start using. DX12 is not a simple on off switch, but more like a dimmer switch full of incremental improvements over time. At any rate, it looks like the API has a lot of room to mature and that MS will be using feedback and coding f...
This is the beginning of an entirely new concept. PC and Xbox are going to be the same platform in the future. Think of how many PC exclusives there are compared to console exclusives. Tying everything into the UWP means that a new Xbox, Xbox "Two", will likely be a plug and play PC instead of a console in the traditional sense. If they do this, they will be beating the competiton to a pulp because every PC owner will be an Xbox owner by default. It'll be like choosing betwee...
@kraenk 1.1, I used to think the same way, but now I can't hook up any of my legacy systems, not even an OG Xbox, to my tv(without having to buy an adapter) because they don't support analog inputs any more. To be able to keep my library and replay them on a current console is necessary for anybody who collects games.
I'm pretty sure you'll be able to play Steam games in the UWP. Wasn't it just talked about a few days ago?
No viruses, no software incompatibilities, no technical knowledge required, no need for a KB/M. It's simple plug and play hassle-free gaming and all my other entertainment/internet in one place. I don't use my PC for anything any more except creating things like music, doing movie or photo editing, or writing documents.
I'm reminded of the end of the Doom movie, when it goes into 1st person. When I first saw it I was like, "I can't wait for games to feel like this!" I don't have to wait much longer... ò¿ó ... I'm ready!!!
Rimgal, he's good friends with Mr. Coffee.
Phil spencer said that the XB1 was built with DX12 in mind and that it supported full DX12. They have the only GPU in the world that supports both FL12.0(AMD) and FL12.1(Nvidia). It's just unfortunate that support is coming so late in the XB1's life span. This announcement is just more proof that DX12 support on XB1 and PC is not like flipping a switch and voila, everything is magically better. Engines need to incorporate the tools, devs need to build with them, and publishers need...
Absolutely. As they continue updating Win10 and DX12, they also encourage developers to share their ideas and coding in order to make the toolsets more developer friendly, and more stable, than they could do on their own. That's the benefit of having an open platform. Honestly, listening to developer feedback reminds me of how MS listens to customer feedback with the XB1.
Perfect Dark would work well as a Splinter Cell/Uncharted style TPS. MS doesn't need more FPS, so a TPS reboot would make more sense to me.
I'm excited to see what the response from the beta is myself. Since I don't play multiplayer games at all, I'm going to have to wait until fall to play the campaign. You'll have to let us know how you feel about it when the inevitable articles pertaining to the Gears beta arrive here at N4G.
