It's not that I love MS... It's that I like Sony less.

Kinect 2.0 should work pretty well with this technology without the need for a PC.

Technically it's made from sawdust, not wood. You would have to run a solid block of wood through a CNC machine in order for it to be made out of wood.

Gears of War... VR???

There's no sense in burning bridges with a company you can still end up making a game for. I'm sure that Evo wasn't particularly excited to walk into a, "sorry guys, you're all fired" conversation when they got up for work that morning though.

I'm just glad that their talent is not being split up. I hope Codemasters gives them the happy home they need to continue making great games.

It seems more likely than not at this point. If future consoles have built in expansion slots for things like RAM and extra GPU's, it would be easy to come out with an upgrade kit that was regulated to a specific spec. I see no reason why it would be difficult to manufacture such a console or why developers would struggle to accomodate a few different specs. I mean, PC's have had graphics settings forever and devs don't seem to struggle with the PC market, right?

I wonder if you could hang onto the corpse and use it as a meat shield instead of using it as a projectile?

Just make it BC and there's no need to remaster it. Then I can also get a free copy with a Mirror's Edge 2 preorder.

Yep. They take four 720p frames, use the data gathered from those images on the fly, and interpret them into one 1080p frame with their engine. The game is not upscaled 720p nor is it a native 1080p frame, but somewhere in between.

Yeah, I'm sure Codmasters will bee a good fit for the new studio too. I wonder what type of game they will produce? Seeing as they are proficient with both on and off road racing it could be anything. You know what racing genre died out after PS2? ATV racing. These guys could make a killer "Off Road Fury".

Having new games to play doesn't mean they're the same as your old games in terms of gameplay. Here's an example; One of my favorite games of all times is Freedom Fighters for Xbox/PS2, and there's never been another game like it. Having that perfect gem of a game still have relevance on today's consoles is a huge deal for many of us. Hell, I can't even play my legacy consoles, without buying an adapter, on my new TV because new TV's don't support analog form...

The image is severely cropped, and you can easily tell by where the reticle is in the frame. Gears was always about the graphics AND the gunplay. The first time Gears images were shown on 360, the internet was on fire with stories about how good it looked, that it had to be CG, and there was no way a console could look that good. It was a showcase for the power of Unreal 3.

Is that why they were teasing them? Lol!

I would like to point out that Dirt sold to more than 60 million console owners, while QB sold to around 20 million. More to the point, I'm glad to see that it's doing well, and this is great news for a new IP with a risky style!

MS recently talked about HDR and how amazing the technology is. My understanding of the tech is that the current limit on your TV's Gamma would have a value of 1. Right now, that means that we can't always see the difference in value between a white wall and a car headlight on the TV. With HDR, white wall would still have a limitation of 1 for it's value, but things like light sources in localized spots on your TV could temporarily go much higher than 1. The added realism of t...

It's going to be a giant crab with a weak spot you can attack for Mass Effect damage! But yeah, how about we see the game already?

Glad to see the demand is high for Oculus, in spite of the price. It bodes well for the success of VR and that of PSVR as well. I hope that interest remains high from both the customer and developer in the long run though, because without continued support from both sides there is still the possibility for failure of the media format in general. The scenario of initial interest waning over time on new formats and technologies is too significant to simply overlook at this point, in my opini...

There are way too many choices out there for gamers to complain about one game being too hard to play. I can't find the time to play half of the games I want to play these days. Also, just because a game is hard, doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed by anyone who's interested. It just means the game has a steeper learning curve than most. Dark Souls is not meant to be played like Dynasty Warriors where you're totally badass. It's meant to make every encounter feel mean...

I don't think that MS necessarily lost their commitment to gamers, but it's a double edged sword. If you look at moore's law, the use of brute force is nearing an end. Everyone involved in the PC industry knows it. Making technology more efficient is the only way to enable processing to continue to advance. To me, it appears that MS intended to have DX12 in place and optimized for the launch of the XB1 in order to take advantage of FL12.0 and 12.1, but even now FL12.1 won'...

I agree. Plus, Phil has suggested making consoles more PC-like in the future by making consoles upgradeable. What I see here is an attempt to remove the gap between the PC and the console, not to eliminate it entirely. You choose a PC if you're interested in some of the ancilliary features of the PC and/or are tech savvy enough to upgrade your PC. You choose a console if you just like gaming and entertainment, and enjoy the convenience of plug and play type technology. Who knows, but t...

As always Rain, well said. Even games that appear to give you choice don't have random story choices, they have predetermined pathways based on the choices that we make. Not until we have voice recognition, full AI, speech synthesis for NPC's, and destructable environments that also allow for the creation of new objects from "mined" resources, will we even be able to consider the dynamic of real choice in videogames.
