It's not that I love MS... It's that I like Sony less.

1st thing: People were saying that 6tf isn't enough to do 4K, but even 4.2tf is confirmed as 4K gaming capable now. I'm actually surprised that it can do it as well as it does because to me, the upgrade in tf isn't enough to justify 4x more pixels on screen. OTOH, AMD did say it takes less than 4x increase to render 4K over 1080p.

2nd thing: How could Sony not put a UHD player in the Pro? Maybe it's a typo, or maybe it's because they didn't future ...

I agree with your logic, but I don't usually watch dramas for the same reason. There's way too many things in this world to be depressed about already without all these painful reminders, IMO. I do, however, think that it stands out in a sea of mediocre games genres and applaud their efforts to create this experience. It's just not my thing.

It' kind of funny too, that the author doesn't want to say for sure that "stratification" is beginning with Neo and Scorpio. But it is, in fact, beginning because each manufacturer will have TWO choices on the market that play the same games.

If it's Mass Effect Andromeda with VR support, it will be exclusive to Neo.

Edit: Or an exclusive mode of gameplay.

I'm just not sure about playing a game about dying of cancer. People play games to unwind and have fun, not be reminded of their own mortality.

Yes, you drive on the left hand side of the road in FH3, something I'm going to have to get used to coming from America! By the way, you guys really still have phone booths over there? I haven't seen one in 15 or 20 years!

True story:

I opened up a new game once, and a monster popped out of the case. I tried to escape but it failed. We then took turns selecting attacks and casting spells as we stood across the room from each other, and I barely survived the ordeal. That was the last time I bought a COD game.

Overload, the only thing MS has no dedication to ATM, is in hiring new studios.

Franchises? They're certainly dedicated to Halo, Gears, Forza... at least according to some people around here. They have several interesting new IP, a ton of back catalog franchises they could reboot, and at least a dozen unannounced titles that could become franchises as well.

Future Plans? They're literally changing the industry with them. The Win10 ecosystem a...

Honestly, if the mod let's you cheat in some way then I say no achievements. If it changes the dialog text, adds grass, or something else purely cosmetic, I say leave achievements enabled. Honestly, it shouldn't be that hard for the mods to get certified for achievements as well during the review process.

I agree, which is why I said they were guidelines and not rules in my post.

@ GT

That's cool, money is money and value is in the eye of the beholder. We both have valid points!

The works of Phillip Dick or Harry Harrison, amongst many other Sci Fi authors, would be wonderful sources for game material.

You got it twisted. Sell the TV, and get a good one with HDR.

Internal 4k upscaling reduces artifacts and lag associated with having the XB1 upscale to 1080p, then having the TV upscale THAT to 4k.
HDR offers more than 4k upscale in terms of image improvement.
UHD movie playback and 4k streaming content is native, which looks awesome too.

Can't really complain about it too much for $800 though. Only thing bad about the TV is no HDR, but for this price? It's still an upgrade from 1080p on the cheap, and would make a good bedroom set when you get a good 4K HDR set for the living room!

I'm still waiting for Scorpio, but this is a really tempting offer.

I used to play this old table top game when I was a kid called Don't Break the Ice. This feels a lot like it, and it is silly, frantic fun!

The point of the article is that the USE of VR headsets is on the decline though.

Perhaps, as you suggest, the games that are out right now aren't very appealing, meaning that people who own VR are waiting for the next release they may be interested in. To add to that, it may also be that the reality of VR isn't as good as people imagine for practical, everyday use. Good to demo for a while? Sure, if you don't get sick from it like some people do, which is a...

I know that technique, it's called passion. When a capable developer cares about the product they're making, we tend to get finished, bug free experiences most of the time. When devs care about a paycheck or a deadline, generally we end up with missing content, broken gameplay, and glitches. These are guidlines, not rules though. For example, a game on the scale of a Bethesda, CDPR, or Bioware title will probably have glitches in spite of having passionate developers. I guess we&...

The theory is sound, but when you give orders to real players they don't follow them like NPCs do. Curious what the new mode is, TBH.

I don't understand why some devs are complaining about the mandate. Many people, even here in the N4G forums, are aware that when PC games are made they scale to the machine they're being played on. Sure, PC gamers have options to scale how they see fit but that's just semantics. Scorpio/Neo graphics will be more like high or ultra, while OG consoles will be more like low to medium settings. Simple.
