Halo comes every other year. What makes you think it will take an extra year to make a new IP? It's plausable that 343 has been working on the concept for a new IP in the background just like Bungie did with the idea for Destiny while making Halo 3.

I really think that since Halo Wars 2 dropped this year, and we therefore already have a Halo for 2017, that 343 has secretly been working on a new IP. Halo's second trilogy only has one episode left, and it would be bettter IMO to have a new franchise debut before the last Halo. 343 could get feedback on "the new IP" and improve upon it while making Halo 6 for 2019 (after Gears 5 2018). People around here tend to think of UWP as a one way street, only allowing MS "exclusives" to come to PC. How many PC games are exclusive to PC though? Those exclusives can easily shift to any platform that supports UWP, and that includes XB1. So while PS4 has all kinds of exclusive japanese dev support, MS can easily enjoy exclusive PC developer support.

To add to that, Corndog, word of mouth is spreading positive news to dissenters like me who were disheartened by the direction the series took over the last decade. That means that sales may not start out as strong as RE6 but will taper off more slowly as people learn it's actually paid respects to the roots of the franchise quite well.

Yeah, I don't care for Japanese developed game in general. The fact that Phil is making an effort to gain Japanese dev support shows how dedicated MS is to getting more diversity onto the XB1 though, and more choices means more reasons for people to consider an XB1 as a purchase, so I'm fine with this direction even though it doesn't concern me either way.
