The biggest difference in the comparison images seems to be where the LOD changes occur. Trees farther in the distance look fuller, rafters can now be seen in the holes on the roofs of distant buildings, etc. I'm sure that the supersampling helps out a lot with the aliasing as well, but it's not as obvious from the stills. It does look oretty good though; I'm more impressed with this update than the one released for the PC!
Sounds like they're trying to sing instead of talk though! Question is, are using auto-tune again or do they really know how to sing on key?
I agree, Edmix. The pacing to the combat was much better in ME2/3 than in ME1. In ME1, I was literally killing one group of enemies, then spending 5 minutes looking at their gear so I never felt engaged in the combat. What I was trying to communicate in my original post was that the amount of items and the ability to equip those on your friends could easily have stayed. They all could have been transferred to the shop area instead of being stripped out completely. It was like they just w...
To be fair, as a Mass Effect fan, the games have gotten worse with each iteration. I liked the first one best because it felt like an RPG. ME2 could have kept all the loot from the first game and simply put it into the store to streamline the combat, but not only didn't they do that, your friends even refused to wear your hand me downs! I don't even want to talk about the way ME3 deflated the whole series, but it almost felt more like Gears of War at that point.

That's why the Witcher is so good; You can get tied up in side quests for days. To be fair though, Bethesda does it just as well.
On a presonal note, I'd rather have several meaningful side stories of a few hours each than several hundred fetch quests though. I want to feel engaged, not bored.
I know how she earns $75 an hour working on her laptop...
They're not comparing checkerboarding to native 4K though, they're comparing it to neural network upscaling. It's newer and does a better job of upscaling to 4k than checkerboarding does. Nothing to do with native 4K at all.
That said, you're right about wasting power getting to 4K when the power could make lower resolutions look so much better in other areas. Fallout 4 for the Pro vs. the HD texture pack for PC is a prime example of just that.
Does this mean Mass Effect is actually open world and not mostly outdoor hallways with an "open world" load screen? DA:I was better in that regard than Bioware's previous titles, but they did need work with the quality of the side quests.
Where is Turok's Cerebral Bore? No guns from Resistance or Ratchet and Clank either? Insomniac made some of the coolest weapons ever, but nothing beats the sights and sounds of the Cerebral Bore!
How big is the patch? Is it 58 gigs like the HD texture pack for the PC? That HD pack was nuts, especially considering howw little it appeared to improve anything. Lighting is probably what made the biggest impact on Fallout 4 though, and it's nice to see devs support the mid gen consoles with patches for existing games!
Because people like you can't take off your blinders and listen to what's actually posted here in various articles about the subject. Phil was asked how Scorpio could maintain FC if it's using Vega, to which he responded that XB1 and Scorpio are using the same architectures. I'm gonna LMAO when the games for the XB1 end up on par with their PS4 counterparts, maybe better. Tile-based rasterization cannot be done on PS4 with HW. Their software soultion is the same as that us...
Lol @ disagrees. I guess facts don't matter to most popular opinions around here.
Playground makes really good games. Can't wait to hear more!
Twitch has a huge delay between the broadcaster and the video stream. Like 10-15 seconds. Beam is nearly instantaneous so there's a big difference just there. But there's a lot more to it that makes it better than Twitch.
•Kinect was integral at launch. Phil also stated at that time that it would be very difficult to remove it, but that's what gamers asked for and it took about a year to get the job done.
•And for all you know it still could be 3 times the power. Matter of fact, Crackdown is getting ready to show that it can be 20 times the power if used for physics.
If you're trying to insinuate that he's lying, you're not doing a very good job. As to w...
Not nonsense. Phil said that the Scorpio is the same hardware, but more powerful. The Hardware supposedly used for Scorpio is Vega. Seems pretty obvious to me, but you can dig deeper and look at how information flows between parts of the GPU's if you like. The similarities are quite striking.
Was it also nonsense when the 360 introduced unified shaders to the PC GPU industry?
MS doesn't have problems getting 360 to run on XB1, yet even tech websites said it would be impossible. Besides, Phil already stated that Scorpio is a more powerful XB1, sharing the same architectures, and that's why maintaining FC won't be a problem. I think you just can't admit that the XB1 was a prototype for Vega.
VR is not a gimmick? How many PSVR games are gimmicks? Almost all of them, lol. RE7 isn't, but then again it is a normal game which just has VR tacked onto it. Show me a game, built only for VR, which isn't a gimmick. There are hundreds across the different VR devices but you'll be hard pressed to name more than a handful of good VR-specific titles.
I'm not convinced that this will break the mold either, but it has a nice feel to it so far. It definite...
Kingthrash: "They are making Xbox hardware lose value."
He didn't say Xbox hardware, he said Xbox. MS software and services are up which adds value to the product line. Xbox hardware is still of value, but now people can play on different devices and aren't limited to having to own the console. Who cares where we choose to play Xbox games? Xbox gamers have choice. Choice adds always adds value.
BTW, if you want to talk about addin...
Their engine is made specifically to utilize DX12... and they are targeting 1080p/30 for both consoles... looks like the gap is closing between the two machines after all... thanks to DX12 enigines that fully support the DX12 HW(FL12.1) in the XB1.
Who's been saying that would happen once DX12 engines were fully supported by 3rd parties? Oh yeah... me!
We'll see what happens when the game is released though, because targeting 1080p and hitting 1...
