Looks like a typical PC v PS3/360 games comparison - high res v low res textures.
The scene depth is really too small to show off the real differences and of course this is just an animated sequence rather than gameplay.
There seems to be an error at 1.20 with PS4 textures.
Yup got the Freelancer too and got my T-shirt and card :)
..........
thehitman; but whats the incentive for other publishers to put money in? it's not like an investment where they can expect a share of the profits.
As the 1st thing that's required is upsampling to 1080p the next gen console versions will never look like the PC version.
I'd buy Red Dead Redemption again (PS3) just to play it with decent PC graphics even though it will have been on consoles for ages and I'll only be buying GTA 5 if it's on PC too.
The Xbox uses the API but it's not a PC and is designed not to play PC games.
What I'm saying is the Steambox is meant to be a compact PC that will play PC games. If you look at the current games content most of those games use the Directx API as Steam currently is just a nice frontend menuing system on Windows but the final Steambox is said to be using Linux instead which doesn't have the Directx API
So my question is how will it play those exist...
Yup it's a very interesting API but it will have to end up a standard that all GPU manufacturers can use otherwise it's going to be another Glide.
And the PS4 can't run any old PC games - you need directx API for that (for the most part).
If it weren't for directx locked to Windows I'd be using the latest Apple OS X with my existing PC games list. It's only the 3D API that is required for existing PC game compatibility not the whole of Windows.
I'd like to know how they will be supporting directx games.
One of the biggest single issues with using Linux on PC's has been the lack of directx compatibility.
If it weren't for MS having directx locked down tight the PC industry would likely be enjoying a wide selection of OS's
I doubt it's that unoptimized and you also have to look at previous trends.
There was no reason that both 360 and PS3 games couldn't all be at 1080p 30/60fps but the majority of publishers decided effects were more important than smoothness and resolution and I'm expecting the next gen consoles to suffer much the same fate.
Steam Machines are more likely a threat to PS4 - XBone has self destruct written all over it:)
...............
Although I currently have a PS4 on pre-order I'm seriously looking at cancelling it and upgrading my PC instead and also look what these Steam Boxes have to offer.
For all the next gen console hype it looks like mostly 720p gaming and still p2p networking (and how can standard Bluetooth devices NOT be compatible at launch!!!)
It used to be much more interesting when game / hardware information was factual and detailed.
Every AAA game review today is "oh wow really good etc" rather than details about amount of content, missing features, total costs to be aware of from micro transactions, game code errors<<<<<----
Grid 2 got great reviews yet it had some massive flaws that made the game unplayable (save game data corruption)which took nearly "4 months" to f...
All I know is that if I run a game like BF3 on my PC at native 1080p then drop the resolution to 720p with the TV upsampling to 1080p there's a huge difference in image quality - and taking screenshots doesn't demonstrate the TV's upsampling effect.
Xbox One and PS4 are starting with games like BF4 not even able to handle 1080p 60fps so, and much like PS3/360 and FHD, there will be lots of noise for 4K support but in reality it will end up being for those 2D games.

PC gaming doesn't have to be extremely expensive to still offer far better quality than PS3/360.
I am an old PC gamer that purchased a PS3 and although I've had some great fun with it my old Intel dual core 3Ghz, Nvidia 8800GTS512 PC (purchased 19 Mar 08) still provides me with 1080p gaming with x4aa etc for most games and for BF3 I still can use 1080p but without anti-aliasing, low shadows etc but image quality and smoothness is still far better than on the PS3.
Ties in with Gabe Newell saying Steam is going up 76 per cent year-on-year.
The problem with so many reports is they don't put together the whole story i.e. "PC sales on double digit decline" gives the impression of the end of the PC. Whereas this mainly concentrates on the business market which just doesn't need to keep updating their hardware each year - I've seen retail chains still using Dos and Win 3.1
The gaming market however is very diffe...
I understand what you mean and I'm surprised so many are disagreeing with you but maybe it would be better worded that you want a framerate synced to the Hz of your TV or monitor.
While I agree that the last CoD SP game was really impressive even compared to previous CoD titles and BF3 SP was rather basic the longevity of these fps games lies in their multiplayer.
My main complaints for PS3 version are Mic on by default and poor networking due to nature of p2p.
I've had a PS4 pre-order with Amazon since June (recently upgraded with KZ and BF4 bundle) but I'm seriously thinking of cancelling and just upgrading my PC instead.
There's no reason but greed to increase the games costs just because textures are closer to PC quality and even though paying of online gaming is going to be a requirement the network is still based on users having to host. I found this to be one of the biggest flaws on PS3 and I'm not interested in going...
