It's interesting the articles starts off with the PS3 is reliable because his PS3. How about my 3 PS3's - 2 of which had Blu-ray failures but just out of warranty (both fails were while playing CoD).
If this was a PC I'd just be swapping out the BR player but in the case of the PS3 it ended up not much more to just buy a new kit (extra controller, warranty etc).

Sure I'll be buying a PS4 and of course I hope it's going to be reliable but I wouldn&...

I suspect the wording is wrong, corrected it reads "Pre-order and we won't remove a map"

Absolute nonsense. Look at existing facts rather than theoretical sales.

Look how many sales of the Last of Us game yet if we follow your sales pattern there should have been just a few sales and the rest waiting for the 2nd hand!

So you take consumer protective rights away and add yet more license control.
Singleplayer games will sell like they always have done but it's interesting that you appreciate the limited life of an SP game but want to force a lifetime licence knowing the gamer will likely only play it once, twice and then it's digital dust.
How about another option of offering a 1, 3, 6 month rental service instead.

You mention you would lower your price if you could ...

You need to look ahead when nearly all software will likely be digital. There needs to be a formal structure in the same way there is with a hard copy now.

You might never have reason to sell your 2nd hand digital software but, just as it is with a hard copy, you need to make sure there is a system in place should you wish to do so.

Don't ever throw away your rights just because right now you might not need to make use of it as this isn't just about t...

It may not be a sim in it's extreme but it plays very well, has excellent graphics while maintaining decent framerates and draw distances, has a huge amount of content, user host lobbies have plenty of variations to keep races interesting and it's still being supported by the dev team with weekly events.

In the end GT5 is about balance within hardware limitations and appealing to a wide audience.
As there are still so many still playing the game it would seem...

World of Tanks is a great game but, just like so many other free to play games on the PC, it's ever evolving with lots of update patches for new features, new content, test ideas, and fixes.
Delaying for MS Q&A is ridiculous as the gamers are the Q&A and the devs create the patches.

As Sky have said NO to MS already I'd say that doesn't really leave a lot to stream in Europe.
Why do I need a box to stream the rest as it's free and my TV already has it built in.

Can't wait for that one!!

CM always promises lots and will hype it up to death but when the game is installed it's all downhill with virtually no support for programming errors.
Not only does Grid 2 not work properly but their 1.01 patch acts like a virus by damaging the hard drive file system! That has to be an all new level of dev incompetence.

Is that because a tablet/phone doesn't have the games you play? Most games even on that format are far sophisticated than games on thte Atari 2600 console, Sinclair Spectrum, Atari ST, Commodore Amiga.
There are some games genres like turn based & realtime strategy that play better on tablets than on consoles (I'm not saying PC ok!).

It would be interesting to see a breakdown of parents buying the Xbox 360 over the PS3 due to the big price differences.
With the next gen consoles both are at the higher price bracket - it might sway parents to look at alternative options whether PC desktop, laptops, tablets (Wii U) etc.
...........

Not sure what an average gamer is really.. maybe a World of Warcraft player or enjoys games like scrabble via a tablet/phone/laptop?

Interesting point about game rentals as that and 2nd hand games seem to be now the next thing the console manufacturers are trying to circumvent. Amazon have recently announced they will no longer be offering console game rentals. As I understand it's very popular so has there been pressure by the console manufactures to stop it? and will other rental services stop in the near future?

A lot of media talk is about x console exclusives yet the PC has so many it's not really considered.
As yet another generation of consoles is upon us and so ends a span of games for them due to lack of backwards compatibility (unless it's repackaged and sold again) while I upgrade my PC and can still enjoy games virtually spanning the life of the PC and it's many emulators of other computers and consoles - I still enjoy Generals Zero Hour, UT99, Race Driver 2 & 3, Red ...

Not too far out but enough that multi-platform games will likely have lower quality textures, shorter draw distances, lower quality anti-aliasing, dropping from 60fps to 30 etc. etc. much like it is with the PS3 and 360

The real damage is done, but even if that were all wiped clean and it was a great gamer friendly console why pay more for less.
If the Ps4 stays around £350 then the X1 would need to be around £270 just to be directly competitive product - it has a slower GPU, less usable ram, cheaper ram, non-upgradable hard drive etc.

Project cars does look better in terms of background details, lighting, view angle etc but it also looks like comparing PC graphics v PS3

The online streaming movies don't get much updating either. The PS3 Lovefilm software is ok but it's poor on the iPad.

It's because so many paid in advance. They've had their pay so what's the incentive..
