It's had such a big overhaul it feels like it could be a PS4 game. So much better than GT5, quite incredible what they managed to put together.
I think half the problem with the current reviews are they run through all the obvious parts and not look at all the less obvious updated features which is a surprising big list.
Yesterday I noticed I could change the colours of the car dials and noticed there's dipped and full beams!!
All the old cars seemed be have been revamped with new hi res skins and there's more body part options.
New lighting effects are gorgeous - even get lens flare...
It's a busy period and not everyone is bothered about getting it on DAY ONE. No point pre -ordering as there were no deals around I expect it will be in a lot of stockings :)
It's also turned out to be quite a bit more expensive than GT5. I paid £27.00 at launch but this time there were virtually no deals to be had - £39 or £59 for a few more cars version and then they want more through micro transactions - no more winning cars after tier race events and the various Special events, also the winnings are now tiny per race.
I'm really enjoying the game, tracks are excellent, new and updated. Gameplay flow (fast menus, fast loading, quick access to upgrades, garage etc) works so much better than GT5 and the cars physics do feel quite different.
Besides the main body of the game there's already the seasonal events and extras like racing/surviving on the moon :) and the Goodwood Hill climb (which is a lot more fun than I expected).
Creating and running an online game is wel...
So many race sims lack really good sound effects; Shift was the big exception.
I wish they'd hurry up with this price war as I'm in need of a new GPU!
This guy is like Microsoft - In a world of their own!
For me it's just GT6
I suspect he still tried to use it :)
lol yeah!!
But it's what happened when you did buy it - virtually unusable. You could only use the extra paid content if everyone in the lobby had exactly the same extra content.
You couldn't own all the DLC then play with ppl who had 1 specific DLC like 1 extra track.
The result is that content that would normally have been in the game very rarely got used by anyone - not even the ppl who paid extra.
Yeah I think the PSN store prices kinda gives that away!!
Maybe the author should have checked out Grid 2!!
Micro transactions are like taxes, they'll start off not too invasive but over time it will get more and more expensive and effect gameplay.
Just look at all the micro DLC - once upon a time it would have been part of the content of the game. Now it's we'll just chip that bit off and sell it separately in bits.
Now if the game is free and I then buy content like for example NFS Wor...
I'm fine with it with free to play games like NFS World on the PC but charging full price for a game AND then adding it is just greedy.
Micro transactions killed Grid 2!
GT6....... unless of course I missed the announcement it's going to be on the PS4 or PC before 2014!!
I wouldn't have even considered consoles if the home games computers format were still around like Atari 800's, ST's, Commodore C64, Amiga's etc etc.
A hint of Apple's intentions is in their latest iOS 7 which for the 1st time supports full wired/wireless games controllers.
This coupled with being able to play on it's small screen or send to a TV for the full screen experience could make for quite a versatile games platform.
In a few years time after a few CPU/GPU upgrades it could end up being able to run the full console games.
And ONLY 700K due to severe Euro stock shortages!
Seems like a pretty accurate review.
Fantastic updated physics - I do feel though it should be explained better as a reader could assume that better physics etc means less feel, harder to driver, dull when in fact it's quite the opposite as you can feel the car tilt and slide so react to it.
The AI are virtually pointless mobile chicanes - I'm sure it would be quicker for the AI drivers to get out and walk round corners than drive! I do hope they fix...
