My fear is that somehow Sony will implore From Software to dumb it down. Goodness, that would be sad.
Im a fan of the list.
Zelda is #1 for me.
Ummm, if you can't figure out what the logo means for each game, then you need someone to hit you in the face with a hammer.
Good grief.
FFXIII was decent enough I guess. There were some parts of the game where you could see brilliance (gran pulse), but for some reason or another, this brilliance was not pervasive through the game.
And the story was muddled.
Still though. Im glad I picked it up and played it. It was pretty at least.
Unforgiven is an excellent western and movie. I could be a traditionalist and say the Good the Bad and the Ugly (which is also fantastic), but its just not as good as Unforgiven.
Lonesome Dove is probably THE BEST, but its a mini-series so its kinda cheating. It is epic though.
Please, to anybody that reads this post and has not seen either of the two. Rent them. Enjoy them.
I could take the same list and say "5 things to ruin Demon's Souls 2."
Honestly, I don't want a Demon's Souls 2. I want what the From Software guy said he wanted to do. "I want to make a game in the same style as Demon's Souls." A non-sequal would free From Software (with Sony's help) from the rules already set by Demon's Souls. I would love to see a game of this style as more of an adventure (towns, NPC's, story), but it ...
It captures EVERYTHING that was fun and endearing about the 8 and 16 bit games.
Its hard not to smile the whole time you are playing this game.
5-2 Valley of Defilment. UGH, that was a difficult level.
Valkeria Chronicle desert level? Might as well have been the whole game. Delightful
I mean...ummmm...culture diferences?
The commercial needed to have that magical 8bit sounding music. It alone induces flashbacks.
As soon as this game loaded up, I couldn't stop smiling. It's retro, and for older gamers like myself, it will remind you of rainy summer days stuck inside playing Zelda eating your mother prepared grilled cheese.
Pure greatness.
Just say socialist. Please.
This is a game website, true. But when a President makes such a claim against technology, then it opens the door for this type of debate. Even on a game website.
Now can we go back to playing games?
Demon's Souls is probably my favorite game in two generations.
Seriously.
The only one I played was Persona 1.
It was ok.
I skipped the PS2 Generation, but will pick up Persona 5 if it comes out.
Squaresoft was an incredible company who knew how to capture the feeling of adventure, story, battle mechanics, music and wrap it up in a sublime experience.
Imo, no company yet has accomplished this as well as the old Squaresoft had.
This article makes me sad.
I can understand that not ALL games have to be Demon's Souls level of difficulty, and I also understand that casual gamers are not the core gamers.
But please, don't completely forsake us hardcore gamers who like challenging thought provoking strategizing games.
Demon's Souls is my favorite game in two generations.
FFVI and Chrono Trigger are easily the best RPG's ever made.
BINGO.
Don't blame executives. They saw where they could make money; Saw that people were buying games and what sold; and then made games that sold lots.
This market is driven by Demand not Supply. Just look at the numbers for MW2 or some other big FPS. Who would not see that and be...wow....lets make some money.
IMO, the problem is that making games have become VERY expensive. To get a beautiful polished game you have to spend more money than...
This review seems about right.
Its not as good as Demon's Souls (for the guy up there asking)
If you are looking for a strange, quirky game that has wild combat this game could be for you.
Its something to tinker around with due to its complexity and if you just finished playing another recently released JRPG it is deliciously refreshing. Of course you do miss the beautiful graphics and production values.
"B****, this copy of Halo is MINE."
I laughed too.
Equality of genders is indeed something to strive for, but there are certain things that will never change and that is "Boys like Girls"
It is dissapointing that a girl gamer can't just hop on a multiplayer, play a few rounds and not be bombarded with insults and or hit on's. I hate online anyway. Having some 12 year old call me some slur is just not something I enjoy. I pla...
In terms of traditional FF for the hardcore? No I don't think so.
FF is a turn-based RPG.
HOWEVER, I understand what you are saying, and battle aside, yes, I can see how versus MIGHT be more in the spirit of older titles. I am hopeful that they can tie all this together. FFXIII production value, Exploration of FFXII, and some killer gameplay like Kingdom Hearts. (To use more current examples)
On a side note, I think FFXIII is a much better game...
FFVI is still the best console RPG to date.
Even now...its complexity and scope have yet to be matched.
