You cant really compare Mass Effect and Dragon Age....Both very different approaches to the "RPG".
But...But...dialoge wheel?! Shut up sparky, the games feel different when playing them...quit reading reviews and start playing.
Mass Effect=TPS with some RPG elements
Dragon Age= RPG with some action elements.
Both games are solid. (Though neither my favorite).
BUT, that said, Day 1 pur...
This game EASILY is my favorite game of this generation...maybe even the last decade.
This looks great. Most likely a day one purchase for me. Im a sucker for Jazz so that alone in a game may warrant a purchase from me.
An opened up FFXIII, towns, more roaming and NPC interaction, this could be a fine game. The music saw solid, graphics were beautiful...story was ok I guess...Weak when compared to others...so yeah...could be good depending.
Looks excellent.
Its a bit different, but yes, I thought the EXACT same thing when I read it.
Good reference on the title
I will say that the battle system did try something different...It was fine...no complaints...(well, complaints until they actually let you use the system)
The world was beautiful.
The music was solid.
The story was at least decent.
But the lack of exploration or at least the feeling you have some control of what you do next is inexcusable for a Final Fantasy game.
The game to me is a 7.5...Its great once you hit Gran ...
It has potential....
Let's see if they execute it.
SquareSOFT...before square-enix.
There were a few years in the 90's that every game they touched was a masterpiece.
RIP Squaresoft.
FFVI and Chrono Trigger are masterpieces.
FFVII was a fine game. Not as good as Chrono Trigger or FFVI, but a fine game.
I've been waiting for a JRPG to use more of hand-painting/oils type engine.
Please, ship to US. thanks.
Chrono Trigger and FFVI are excellent soundtracks.
He is probably right about players wanting DEPTH. Many gamers (and probably more mature gamers) want to actually play the game not just go along for the ride and blow things up.
I thought some of his tutorial stuff was misplaced. "Depth" is achieved through level design and game mechanics not a good tutorial.
Beating Rygar was one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life.
I love the concept, but goodness the gameplay is just too clunky.
Its almost a QTE. You guide the character not control it.
Shame too....the rest is so good.
Bear with me here...this is going to be long.
FFVII may be the greatest and worst thing to ever happen to JRPG's. Before FFVII, JRPG's were niche titles...to a very dedicated fan base.
FFVII with its graphics at the time, FMV, story pushed the envelope for all RPG's to follow. Many people went out and bought FFVII...They believed all RPG's should be like that. The wave lasted through the ps1 and through the ps2 days. All the while, ...
Yeah it did. It was FF3.
These guys have bad tastes in games. Well except for the Mass Effect 2 guy.
