My intro to the Halo franchise started only 2 months ago (a used copy of Halo 3). To me it was a very enjoyable change from past shooters with it's own style and flare. I went from hating the franchise (for no logical reason other than it's popularity) to making it one of my favorites (especially ODST).

I want kinect games to be kinect games... and everything else... keep them optimized for controllers.
For example, I don't want GOW3 to be kinect compatible if it comes at a cost to performance. Optimize for kinect, or forget kinect 100%. No hybrid kinect games.

The casual market is a HUGE market. Wii proved that... and look at their sales compared to the PS3 or the 360. We can write off the Wii and sales all we want, but come next gen, that is a large portion of buyers that will buy the next version of the Wii. The hardcore market is fickle and will jump to the "best console", the casual market...

They went for the casual market because they feel that they have saturated the "hardcore" market. To continue strong growth they need to enter a new market. The casual market is HUGE.
As a "hardcore" gamer, I don;t like it. But from a business standpoint, it is far smarter than Sony using the Move to target a hardcore market that it already has.

I think 360 fans care less about exclusive games compared to PS3 gamers because just what you said... multiplatform titles tend to perform poorly on PS3.
PS3 gamers thus need exclusives more than 360 gamers do.
The numbers that matter is that on the day of the article, the 250Gb 360 kinect bundle was #7 in sales.

I find GT no more or less forgiving than Forza when all the assists are off (I prefer not to use them as I get more cash that way in Forza). However, with arcade mode in Forza, I agree it is easier to get in and start driving any car you want.

The Move bundle was UP to position #59 when I just checked, so it is really MOVING up fast. The 250gb Kinect bundle DROPPED to 7th place. Kinect is an obvious fail. The Kinect sensor is only 7th overall right now. Move INCREASED to 41.
Sony has all of the momentum right now.
Just about every PS3 exclusive is hyped to death by PS3 fanboys. I think that is my beef. All of them are solid games for the most part, but like Alan Wake and GT5... they are no second coming. No game is a second coming... except Mass Effect 2, and everyone will get to enjoy that now.
If Killzone 3 ONLY gets a 9.0 there will be a riot amongst fanboys.

I would say that this (and GT5) is revenge to all the PS3 fanboys that were all over Alan Wake for it's "pathetic" 9.0... except that I just can't get over the terrible lip-syncing of that game...

And lay off the Forza is an arcade racer bit. It is as sim as you want it to be, or as arcade as you want it to be. Choice is good.
The truth is that Microsoft has INCREASED it's emphasis on exclusives. The 360 will have more exclusive titles next year than in any previous year!!!!
The catch is that many of them will be for Kinect, and thus MS has switched it's emphasis from the hardcore crowd (who only really play COD when you look at the overall stats) to the more casual crowd. Thus there are less xbox exclusives that are aimed at the traditional "hardcore" gaming crowd.

Forza 3 because the offering has far more customization and better online. The game is also far more even in it's quality. The lack of cockpit shots for most cars in GT5, and the lack of my fav manufacturer Porsche is a deal-breaker for me.
neither has much that really draws me in. Kinect is cool, but limited. Move looks interesting for shooters, but once the novelty wears off, I would rather use a standard controller.
I think blu-ray will have a very short life. I really think MS made the right decision banking on digital downloads. I can;t remember the last time I rented a movie at the movie store.
The HD drive may have smaller capacity discs, but most games fit on one disk (I only have 2 games out of 33 that take two disks), and the read/write speeds are faster than blu-ray.

The disk swapping thing is a lame "advantage" for the PS3 version. Swapping the disk once in 30 hours of gameplay is not an issue.
I reality, the 360 drive installs games faster than blu-ray. I guarantee that more time will be lost on PS3 for game installation compared to the 360 times for installation and disk swapping.
I dont care about the genre. It was a lot of fun.
That being said, i felt like i was playing a "role" more than any other "rpg" i have played in the past. And this comes from someone who likrs rpg's.
Those that think rpg means msnaging invintories and using probability calculations to determine hitting and damage will disagree.
Ms is dong good business, not making fanboys happy. They look at costs and profits and they minimize costs, and max profits. They are cashing in on the online multiplayer shooter crowd with live fees. They are going after your kids, mom, dad and sister with kinect. They have the hardcore crowd...
