I also think they made melee take more than one hit to kill.
there is no such thing as a review score that is too low, just differing opinions. ;-)
I also don't think people give Sony too hard of a time with reviews. Instead I would argue Sony does a better job of building expectations for their games pre-release.
I still respect reviews. But with any good review, I care less about the score, and more about what *facts* they say about the game, good and bad. I don't read reviews for opinions, I read them for facts so I can make my own opinions.
I always read multiple reviews. Metacritic is a good starting point.
As a rule I tend to ignore the reviews with the best and worst review scores. Both tend to be biased, but for different reasons (they are usually fanboy ...
Is DA2 a 'Role Playing Game?'
It is indeed a GAME - CHECK
In this game you do play a ROLE - CHECK
The only thing that has changed from DAO is priorities. Faster combat, faster pacing, more cinematic, less dialogue. No one is to blame for these changes but the fans: Bioware keeps telemetry, and you guys should not have skipped so much dialogue on your 3-7th playthroughs, cause Bioware "fixed it" based on your gameplay.
DLC is the way of the future... it is a way of combating used sales and pirating. I think it is essential to the success of game. PLus, it gives fans more content.
And if you must save money, just wait a year for the price of the game to drop, a DLC sale, or for a GOTY/Ultimate edition to be released.
It can get expensive, but no one is forcing you to buy it now.
If we listened to the opinions of the 'extreme' ME1/DAO fans that resent ME2/DA2 than we would be playing the same game over and over with no innovation or change. But then, they would still find something to complain about... probably lack of innovation. ;)
I think I will like the change. Never did finish DAO... I really wanted to like the game but could not find the time/desire. Pacing is something DAO lacked.
@ orange cows...you know you can toggle auto attack on so combat will be just like DAO right?
I wonder if Bioware ever released gameplay stats on DAO like they did for ME2... I bet completion was VERY low, same goes for text reading, and dialogue experienced. I bet hey cut it all out in DA2 because mos...
stop with all of your logic. Logic does not make for a good bitch article. ;)
The problem with any sequel that tries to improve is that you have some people who love the changes, and some who hate them and want nothing to change.
I love the DA2 changes. No numbers over the heads... who cares, the damage is calculated silently. No auto-hit... turn it on. No race customization... deal with it because you have full dialogue.
Based on the...
Wow, it is a good thing writers like this don't create games. One of the most critically acclaimed games ever, 2010 GOTY for many gamer sites... and it is "disappointing." The author is obviously trolling for hits.
No game is perfect, that is true. But I can write an article on any game that only focuses on negatives, but that does not rule out all of the GOOD that is in a game.
Any article that focuses only on good or bad points of a gam...
I gpt a ban for 5 or so days when gt5 came out. I said gt5 lacked porsche. I contacterd mods, but they said the community said i was trolling (based on votes abd disagrees i guess).
Sometimes i think the troll is identified by the majority vote. Who cares about details.
They are probably what the author HOPES is in ME3. Bioware has confirmed nothing yet... so why would the go tell one artist who is not affiliated with Bioware or the development of ME3?
although I would say those three characters would be likely to at least make a cameo.
None of this is official, just really good fan art.
Better than the boxed art. Someone needs to be hired.
How about finishing the game before reviewing.
@kancerkid
If you read the article next time a little more closely, you will notice that Pete never actually says if the scenes are gameplay or cutscenes. Cutscenes are 100% "in-game" also.
I 100% disagree with the reviewer. Mind you, I am coming from the 360 side of things.
Better graphics, better gameplay, proper dialogue from your character, better menus, combat that is fun. I tried so hard to like origins, but could not. This, I like.
This is the problem with reviews from super-fans: they tend to fawn all over something, or resist change 100%.
sure it is all "in game"... but you will also see cutscenes when you are "in game", so the reply was pretty ambiguous.
Pete Hines would make a good politician.
I end up spending most of my time gaming on the 360 (for whatever reason it is the multiplatform titles that I prefer, and I get those for the 360), but even I can say that this is "announcement" is kind of lame.
It will be an incredible year for hardcore gaming on the 360... but same goes from the PS3... except that the PS3 has the same games, plus more high quality exclusives. (mind you, most of them don't interest me that much, I am tired of shooters...but t...
With the recent move away from dedicated servers, one way they could charge for online is to promise dedicated servers, and to thus have higher player caps per game.
The fee would need to be low however, and you could still play regular multiplayer with lower player counts and P2P.
@DigitalAnalog
Sellouts? Or did the new reality of profitable game development, and hackers, push them to consoles?
I am sure the illegal leak of Crysis, and now Crysis 2 on PC has nothing to do with the move to consoles... ;-)
