NFS Shift did do one thing better than any racer to date: really give you the feeling that you were in a race car and the feeling of speed and danger.

Give me the cars of Forza 3, the graphics of GT5, and the experience of NFS and you have a winner.

This world is full of all kinds of stupid.

I dont like it either... But you can't deny that ms is making the right move when cash factors in.

Father is right. Money talks and there will be more exclusives than ever... But for kinect. Ms wont leave the hardcore crowd, but they can wxpect less love. Rhey have maxed the hardcore market... But big money still looms in the casual market.

Fanboys will get to brag on big numbers, but will lose with the exclusives race. Tis life.

I got kinect and it is great for parties and true gaming exercise. It won't replace my core controller based games, but it is a nice change, and if is the first gaming system to truly get you up and going. That is a good thing.

It is going multiplatform... but I want Commander Shep!!! PEW PEW PEW ELBOW TO THE FACE DUCK AND COVER!!!

THAT would make me CARE and actually buy this game.

The writer of the article doesn't agree with the subjective opinion of another writer/gamer? Really? How about look at the subjective opinions of many writers/gamers on metacritic? Are they all wrong, or just the ones that didn't give your game of choice the score that your subjective opinion feels it deserves?

And most gaming review sites do use a standardized review scheme... but this will always be a subjective practice.

To the writer of this ...

Is the writer of this article kidding? really?

Reason #1: To offset losses on selling consoles. The price of controllers and other accessories are marked up to compensate for the money lost on each console sold. Does anyone remember the hit Sony took per console back when it was first released?!?! 300$ range was the estimate. Even one year ago it was estimated to be losing money on each console sold.

Microsoft did do a good job keeping the Xbox profitab...

Agreed. Sales should not matter.

I admit that on average, I find games that are reviewed well to be more likely to be enjoyable. That being said, I have played some games that have been scored more moderately, and loved them. I have also played some high rated games that only made me go "meh".

I agree.

I guess my point is that companies like Sony and Microsoft need to be more clear on their use of terms. Sony may have clarified their move numbers, as did microsoft for their Kinect 8 million numbers... but that was after the message was given... and it spread over the internet like wildfire.

Central to good PR is to create a message that you want to communicate, and then do it in the simplest, most easily digestible form possible. Sadly, indus...

yes and no. Shipment sizes are indeed based on anticipated sales, but with Alan Wake and Enslaved for example... sales did not live up to anticipated sales. Thus the initial shipped numbers may have been pretty good, but it would take a long time before another shipment would be needed since sales were so underwhelming.

Shipped is more important to the *short term* bottom line of the shipper however. On the short term Alan Wake and Enslaved made the company some solid ca...

sales mean nothing. Wii sports trumps all in sales... but does it matter to you or I?

Bud light is the best selling beer in the US... but does that mean it is the best tasting beer in the US?

This is a good point. Blu-ray was a big victory for Sony. However it was not the PS3 that won that war, it had hardly any influence in the big picture since you know Sony will support it's own... it was the movie studios that turned the tides.

The PS3 "lost" comments stem from the marketshare that Sony lost from the previous generation. That loss is HUGE, and the Wii has replaced it in popularity.

So in the big picture Sony is doing fine, b...

Why would I want an RPG (DA2) to be multiplayer???? So that I can stand around waiting for someone else to explore all of the dialogue options that I have already heard???

No.

Fail.

Go back to your Call of Duty.

what is the long term risk of being fat and out of shape? Heart attack? Stroke? etc?

Now what is the risk of any physical activity out there? Higher than sitting on the couch. But we still do it because being active is good for our overall health.
