I understand people's points with the convenience of no-disk backups and minimizing scratch risks...

... but, a large number of people who crack the DRM on a game to make it disk-free... also load games too and from programs like torrent. For every one "honest" person backing up a game, there are many who are pirating. My own brother pirates games because it is easy, and once you know you can get a game for free, the temptation is too big.

Although the article makes one or two good points, overall there is little evidence that DRM is really bad to the honest gamer who buys games. DRM is really only bad for hackers/pirates.

The hackers on both the PC and consoles that are to blame for DRM. If people did not, or could not pirate games, there would be no DRM. Simple. Game developers have been pushed to add DRM, and increasingly invasive DRM to minimize losses on new games.

Kulex... Good call on the furts. A very close call indeed.

I think you are 100% spot on predicting 2012. Wii will be the furts to upgrade, possibly in fall 2011. Sony wants to hold on the longest... They have a lot of losses to claw back this gen, and ps3 has legs. Ms/nintendo will be agressive and rush sony yet again.

This is great for everyone. Gamers save by not getting another console. We get better games as developers refine games.

Developers save costs on making games as they get to know each system better each year.

Sony/ms win because console production costs drop each year.

This is a great run. I suspect the next round of consoles will be announced soon however. Wii will be first as it's sales get chewed into by move and kinect.

All good points. Here is another one: many multiplatform games are better on the 360 (unreal 3 anyone?).

And another... Sony lost big money (up to 300$ per console, 15$ per console about a year ago). Sony loses big money with its online. Wii never lost money selling consoles. The 360 sold at a profit after 1.5 years, kinect sells at a profit, live makes a profit. To compete sony has taken a lot of losses.

Sony sells less software per console than the 360...

I had a great time getting drunk. Waking up in the alley and then getting revenge on the bartender was awesome. I had a great time on omega in general. I really TRULY felt like I was roleplaying... that place made me just want to be a total badass.

Mass Effect 2 was an amazing game for this reason... and so many more

PC is the best version by far... but PS3 fans should just play it and enjoy it!!!!

Play games, not reviews!

@Venatus-Deus

the modern corvette is the best bang (and there is a lot of bang) for the buck of any sports car in the world right now (the Nissan GTR also coming close, but try to buy one at sticker price...not going to happen)

... and that is coming from a Porsche fanatic.

"All Convettes are shockingly bad cars. Everly single one."

Oh but wait... I am sure you have driven Corvettes new and old extensively, so you ...

Don't believe the hype.

Was the survey wording scientifically sound so that questions would not be leading? What does "failure" mean? RROD? Scratched disk? froze one day and had to be reset? Was "failure" defined for the survey? How many responders were there? For people that claimed their 360 failed, was there proof that they ever owned a 360? Or were they just PS3 fanboys trying to make the competition look bad(or vi...

This article needs to get it's facts straight... "up-to-date statistic" my ass. The article was published in Aug 2009. 2009!!! Which means the survey was probably done in early 2009.

I won't try and deny that the early 360 had high failure rates...

...but I know statistics, and I know surveys, and I know that it is easy to bias a survey to skew results. For example: If I were to poll N4G readers (predominantly PS3 users)in the same issue...

Haha the sony fanboy above was right... Some updates do brick your 360.... If you ilegally copy games!!!!

I hope the pirates get the banhammer in the face.

If you must game on the cheap... Just buy games 6mths to one year after release.

Look, I own all three consoles... and on average, online is much better/faster/more stable/dependable across the board on the 360... especially when huge games like COD/Halo/GT5/KZ2 first come online.

Killzone multiplayer is great but lags at times. I find it depends on the connection I have that day. Sometimes it is flawless, sometimes a disaster (crashing). Mostly in between.

Xbox live may cost 60$ a year... but it gives a more stable online experience o...
