I'm not much of a fan of mobile gaming (touch screen gaming just doesn't feel right at all), so I'm really happy to see this coming to PS4 and Vita. I was really intrigued by the chess-style set up as it looked very challenging. $7.99 isn't a bad price either for a game that appears to have a fair amount of levels to play and a platinum trophy.
I noticed there were a ton of loading skips and pop-in during my time spent with the PlayStation 4 version. None of that is present in the PC version, and it definitely took me out of the experience with how often it was happening. I'm sure Campo Santo will address it in an upcoming patch, so I will wait to finish playing that version (for the 5 trophies :-/ ) because it did pull me out of the experience every time I thought the game was freezing up.
I know Crash has been dormant for a very long time; I don't know how well he'd resonate nowadays, but I would love to see Sony bring him back. I loved those games all those years ago, and would be all for a proper sequel that's fresh and takes platforming to a whole new level. Most platformers - with the exception of Ori - have been independent games and theres nothing wrong with that, but I would love to see a big time AAA-platformer and Crash Bandicoot would be an excellent fran...
If I get that email today, I'll be "heart-broken"....
I'll show myself out
It looks manageable when you go solo, but during those really intense moments it looks like playing with another human controlled player would take the experience to a whole new level of fun. Not that it doesn't look fun solo, I'm all for a challenge, but I can imagine there's a lot of moments of hilarity to be had between two people playing cooperatively during heated combat!
The one element I really enjoyed were the variety of gems you'd recover along the way, and mixing and matching them upgrade the ships turrets, shields, and engines. Fully upgraded weapons come in clutch later in the game and you'll need it during those tough boss battles. Very cool game indeed
That Final Fantasy XV trailer has me all sorts of excited for this entry. I love how it showcased a stealth element that's never been apart of Final Fantasy gameplay, not like this anyways. And when the action finally does heat up, that battle system they have in place looks exciting and intense. This is shaping up to be one hell of a game. I really hope we can get our hands on this game in 2016. We'll find out in March!
I agree, I actually went to bandcamp and bought the soundtrack for $10! I knew about this game for awhile as it was out on other platforms for awhile, but Sony continues to do their part in working with indie devs to get their games into the PlayStation ecosystems and in front of an install base that's closing in on 40m users. Vita owners especially should look into this game.
The Mighty No. 9 delay is a real bummer, that's one of my most anticipated games this year, but they just can't seem to get this thing squared away. I can only imagine how disappointed Kickstarter backers must be, but then again, I'm sure they'd be even more pissed if Inafune released a busted game that was plagued with issues. Hopefully Spring 2016 is the last delay we'll see for this game.
I'm disappointed that I didn't jump into this game when it originally launched in 2012, but I'm super happy that it's made its way to PlayStation consoles with a robust trophy list, I'm mean seriously, 58 trophies? For a $10 game? That's gnarly!
As soon as I seen some people tweeting about this game, and how it's similar (though not 1:1) to a JRPG, and features a ton of 80's references, I didn't even think twice. I downloaded and can't wait to play it. Did anyone get in on those Limited Run Games' copies that went on sale today? I heard that sold out in less than a minute!
After having played Saturday Morning RPG, I'm all over the limited edition that includes the soundtrack. My buddy said the soundtrack reminded him of Rock IV's soundtrack, and sure enough, the music in Saturday Morning RPG was composed by Vince DiCola, the same composer who handled the music in Rocky IV! Mighty Rabbit made sure EVERYTHING about this screen oozed with 80's culture. Did I mention it's fun as hell to play as well?
Based on some of the screens and videos I've seen, this game runs incredibly well considering the demanding visuals and constant action. 2015 was a rough year for PC ports, but it looks like things have started off strong in 2016 with Rise of the Tomb Raider performing very well. Now lets see how Tom Clancy's The Division holds up during it's beta run and the eventual launch. I'm curious, has anyone see Rise of the Tomb Raider completely maxed out? Does it melt your face?
Is it just me or does the female in that picture look like Lt. Ripley from Alien? Anyways, adventure games have always been an interest of mine, simply because they can be extremely challenging, but it sounds like there isn't much challenge here and worse yet, it doesn't have much of a narrative to keep you engaged.
It's pretty cool to see The Witness reviewing so well, lots of 100's out there (with exception to those who docked the score because it was too hard?). Jonathan Blow is a the type of developer I'll always get behind simply because he's so passionate about perfection and releasing an optimized product. He's also very passionate about his games in general; when he posted a "Thank You To Gamers" on the PlayStation Blog, you could tell he's a very humble guy and ...
I especially like that section where you can only move to your left - even if you push right on your stick, the character moves left - and you have to use the environment to guide him through the level. Those types of level designs always mess with me, even if I KNOW I can only move left, I still find myself trying to move right. You can just feel your brain fighting it!!
I WAS excited for Tom Clancy's The Division until I heard all the comparisons to Destiny. I found Destiny to be generic and pretty much a bore when played solo. Yes, I understand it was primarily meant to be played cooperatively, but It was disappointing that a game with such an interesting universe that had so much potential for an epic story couldn't must up much of tale at all. I'll be passing on this game until I hear more about the story and if it can deliver a single player ...
I'm waiting for mine to be delivered today! Really excited to finally play this thanks to all the awards and great reviews. Pretty cool idea to release a collectors edition with all the included goodies. I much prefer to play all episodic games like this as opposed to waiting for each episode to come out.
Cuphead looks sooooo cool! That animation style looks great and I've heard this game will be extremely challenging. Mighty No. 9 is right up there as well. Nice list.
Regarding Fallout 4's DLC: I'm sure it's easy for uninformed gamers (as well as the entitled ones) to scream F-you at Bethesda fort he price hike, but when I step back and look at the whole picture, Bethesda isn't screwing anyone over. If you bought the season pass at launch, you're good. If you didn't, Bethesda is doing you a solid by honoring the $29.99 price 2.5 weeks before the hike. If you have any plans whatsoever to pick up Fallout 4 this year, then you have no ...
