I'm actually planning to try out PlayStation VR sometime this week at one of the nearby retailers that has a demo station. My biggest concern is motion sickness (I'm prone to it more than most), but after hearing Bender's thoughts on it, I really hope it doesn't come to that because VR sounds incredibly fun.
Best game so far this year: Salt and Sanctuary (Sorry, I'm not sorry)
I have yet to play this game, but the one thing I liked about Limbo is that it required some thought on behalf of the player to make sense of what story Playdead was trying to tell. I was able to for my own opinion of what it was about and I loved that Playdead created a game that allowed us to come up with our own interpretation of it. Based on this review, this is another one of those games that will require some deep thought and reflection. I like it when people don't just say the game...
I know the popular belief will be that the PlayStation 4 Neo 5.5TF model is a "reactionary" move by Sony after Xbox revealed the sexy beast that is Scorpio. My theory is that both the 4.2TF and 5.5TF model have always existed, but in an effort to keep the price lower and more appealing to gamers (to keep the sales juggernaut rolling along), their plan was to stick with the lower-spec model to avoid another "PS3 is $599" catastrophe. We know that all the rumors prior to E3 ...
Meh, I thought this game sucked in 2011. Can't polish a turd!
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold me on an NX immediately. I'm glad it's coming to the Wii U, but I'm going to buy an NX to spend months playing through the world they've created. Crafting? Loot drops? Survival elements? All the usual Zelda features? Yes, PLEASE!
Did anyone else think that Call of Duty was another bad ass looking PSVR game before it actually revealed that it was indeed Call of Duty? I'm not a Call of Duty fan at all, and finding that trailer so appealing made me wonder if because this didn't look a thing like Call of Duty, if I'd actually enjoy playing this installment? Also, Resident Evil VII Biohazard played fully in VR? Purchase: CONFIRMED
As a huge Mass Effect fan, while I agree a fully cinematic trailer would've killed the whole show, I was still pumped to see what we saw, hear a little bit about what the story will be about, and getting a glimpse at our protagonist. Granted, I'm bias towards Mass Effect, but I was really happy about what we saw.
They should just make E3 two weeks long if the week before the actual event is going to be THIS active with reveals and announcements. This week did a heck of a job hyping me up for everything, starting with tomorrows EA Play and Bethesda press conferences. Gonna be a fun week!
This is probably one of my favorite all-time franchises. It takes a special pedigree, a charismatic character, and excellent stories to keep a franchise going for 20 years, and Tomb Raider is a shining example of rare mixture of qualities. So happy to see the reboot, and it's sequel, have put Tomb Raider back into the upper echelon of gaming. Well deserved.
The Xbox Scorpio - if the rumored specs are true - sounds as if it will be Microsofts attempt to win over console gamers with the "Most Powerful Console On The Market" angle, which I feel is something they desperately needed to do. Microsoft are a prideful company, there was no way they'd sit back and not do something drastic. However, if the PlayStation Neo does launch this Fall/Winter, and the NX drops in March, it could be tough sell for MS (assuming the rumor of a Fall 2017 ...
Honestly, I couldn't help but think of this as a indie-styled, 2D version of something like Until Dawn. A good horror game with solid writing and voice acting.
I love platformers like this that add a unique mechanic like using that high-powered rifle to move around the levels as opposed to jumping. Looks like a very clean image and runs at 60 frames as well.
My top 3 favorite Metroidvania games:
Metroid
Symphony of the Night
Shadow Complex
I was so pumped to see this finally come to PlayStation 4. I heard many people speaking highly of it when it released on PC and then Xbox One. I picked it up immediately and it was great to see the updated visuals to go along with that classic gameplay. Love it
I'm still completely baffled by the Disney Infinity cancellation. I thought it was a super fun game, not only as an entry point to gaming for young kids, but for adults who are fans of Star Wars and Marvel. Really a shame. Avalanche Software housed around 300 developers. That's a lot of people out on their butts. Hopefully they're able to land on their feet elsewhere within the industry.
Mad respect for the lead designer, not only for overcoming his struggles with depression and OCD, but also for finding a way to use his battle as inspiration to create a disturbing horror game that gives everyone a peek into what it's like to deal with those hardships. I started playing this last night, and I can see how this game won't be for everyone, but if you think about where the inspiration comes from, it's more scary than most other horror games.
This looks and sounds creepy as hell. I was listening to this video at work, and I can already tell that this will be extremely eerie with headphones on, playing in the dark. I really enjoy games like this, that aren't in it for the cheap scares. I'm all over this one when I get home.
I'm glad the NX has been delayed until March, there are just too many games and hardware (PSVR) coming out this fall, so I appreciate the opportunity to save up after the holidays for another purchase shortly down the line. However, it is a double-edge sword because they delayed The Legend of Zelda on Wii U until March as well. I was really looking forward to playing that "shortly after the release of Star Fox", regardless of what Nintendo console it was on. Oh well.
Dead Nation + Destiny + Diablo = AWESOME
Housemarque always seems to make a game that's extremely difficult to put down and Alienation is no exception. The character classes, upgrades, looting, and crafting all add an RPG element to a fantastic performing twin-stick shooter. Not to mention the events that can happen during each mission - like an attacking horde of enemies or a super boss - keep you on your toes. Fantastic game.
As much as I like the idea of the NX gaining mass support from 3rd party titles, I really like that Emily Rogers is suggesting we be really excited about the software output! A heavy mixture of beloved Nintendo franchises and brand new IP's would be fantastic for Nintendo. Kind of strong that we won't be seeing anything NX at E3, especially since the darn thing will be launching 3 or 4 months before next years E3.
I was really hoping this would be a suitable alternative to keep me busy until Mass Effect: Andromeda, but there are so many glaring issues with The Technomancer, it's hard not to view it as anything other than a major letdown.
