The box art is fine. It's an indie game done with a smallish team with some extra funding from Sony and other parties. They are using a 3rd party engine and they had to learn more or less everything from scratch. The scale of the game will be very small due to many, many valid reasons.
And that's the way I think Shenmue should always be. There's no need to make this a blockbuster series. Single digit A game is the way to go for Yu Suzuki and his team, and that...
I didn't like PS2 initially either, but when the niche RPGs that became full series hit it, I could not resist anymore.
My favourites here: Suikoden III, IV, V, Shadow Hearts I, II, III, FFX, FFXII, MGS2, MGS3, Xenosaga I, II, III, Dragon Quest VIII, Persona 3, 4, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocture, Digital Devil Saga 1-2, Radiata Stories, Star Ocean Till the End of Time, Valkyrie Profile 2... oohhh the list is way too long to remember.
I'm actually pla...
I thought 3 was good, and 4 ok. First one was supposed to be the next Resident Evil but it ended up its own series, and that is why the second one ended up so bad. Remedied themselves on the third game nicely, had some good moments in it. I still like the first game's atmosphere and adventure-like feeling. You could search lot of the items and environments (similarly to RE series.)
DerekTweed, learn Japanese! :)
Loved Yakuza 3 and 4 story, haven't had the opportunity to play 5 and 6, 0 looked really promising when I tested it, but most of all I liked Ishin, which was really really good.
I would have to disagree about The Witness. It was the most dull, boring and uneven grindfest I've ever played amongst puzzle games. I didn't enjoy it the least. I liked puzzle games like Clash of Heroes, Adventures of Lolo, Fez, Portal and Myst.
However, The Witness was way over my head. Maybe I'm stupid (which I am not supposed to be accordingly to multiple cognitive tests, rather sharp work, educational, and sports track record), and I just got frustrated. I ...
Saga Frontier I and II are classics, beautiful and meaningful games in the genre. They had a bit of a loose structure, but it gets tied together towards the end and it is actually a bit more fun that way too. Kind of like an open-world 2D RPG. The music and stories were pretty good, too. I'd suspect they are much better than Octopath Traveler.
You are absolutely right.
I do want to defend some games that got really close, though. Shin Megami Tensei III, Strange Journey Redux, IV and IV Final, plus Digital Devil Saga I and II were really good, also Shadow Hearts I-III were classics, Xenosaga and FFXII were up there, but it didn't realize its full potential due to development dragging out and people burning out. The only game recently that game me some real vibes was Nier:Automata, and to be honest Drakengard I...
Sequel can be: No More Ideas
A spin off: Out of Ideas.
The desperation is endless.
This will be like a snack before Bloodborne 2 and Dark Souls IV. Minimum amount of playthroughs: three.
You are probably right. Only very few stats and mostly a skill-based system. I liked the heavy RPG focus with Demon's and Dark Souls I and II, but Bloodborne and DSIII were light RPGs compared to the earlier three installments. This is the opposite of what happened with the King's Field series evolution. To be clear, though, I thought Bloodborne and DSIII were still absolutely fantastic games, they felt particularly complete with their DLCs.
I'm ready to die twice!
I didn’t say I play mediocre JRPGs, I play only the best. Nothing wrong with often uses plot device if its written and designed well and serves a purpose.
Good for you! I have never been personally interested in online shooters, not since Halo 2 and Unreal Tournament 1999. Goldeneye 007 was a good multiplayer, offline though. I rather play Deus Ex, Prey, System Shocks and Dishonored if I need my FPS fix. And I enjoy deep Japanese made RPGs as well.
I'm tired of shooting anyone or anything in games. Done it gazillion times in the last 35 years, gets boring!
I see the good-game-stuffs here and if I was 25 years younger I might be interested in this. This is just simply too childish for my taste. I also do not find anything original here, and see this as a result of a meeting where certain makers have been gathered together to throw around ideas and the best they could get to was "Original title akin to Nier: Automata, but for kids with Nintendo-vibe"
FFT is the best Final Fantasy game made. Next is FFVI, then VII and XII, IV V, IX, VIII, and finally the rest.
Yeah, but the ones that don't, have people really happy for the rest of their lives.
Depends very much on the country's legislation. In Japan, these things will land you jail time.
@Gemmol
What do you mean "have fun with a system" ?? Do you play the system? I think people buy them the future in mind, knowing that some well-known franchises will be exclusive to those systems. Switch of all consoles is the one that has most 1st party exclusive content, and just like all Nintendo systems, is guaranteed to have a few smash hits during its lifespan.
Same here, saw some gameplay, but trying hard to forget it. It was enough to pre-order the game, though!
