They have taken quite a few risks. Zoo Tycoon, Ryse, Scream ride, Quantum Break, Ori, Crimson Dragon, Recore, Sunset Overdrive all off the top of my head. They all pretty much flopped, which cements the fact that they were risky investments.
Unfortunately for MS, Gears 4 and Forza Horizon 3 don't wipe that slate clean.
As for the article, I haven't read it but it sounds like uninformed trash. Certainly stirred up the hive though.
One day VR will be more mainstream than gaming. Not with these current headsets though.
As for the first part of your comment, that's devoid of fact, logic or relevance, and makes you sound like a moron.
VR could have gone either way though, as it's essentially display tech that could have become as separate and compatible as a TV.
Oculus is a good example, as that was part of their stated goal until Facebook bought them.
Sadly it may be too late for a platform-agnostic standard, VR is already dominated by execs building closed platforms. The PC community do push back fairly hard (hence Oculus dropping their constroversial DRM and allowing their games to run on Vive), but I suspect PSVR signals the end of that battle.
On the plus side, the likes of Sony and Facebook investing in VR is definitely accellerating the development of the tech.
The Wii was accessible. PSVR is accessible relative to Rift and Vive, but it's still pretty firmly entrenched in enthusiast territory.
@Orbilator Not really, no. Fanboys are mouth breathing rage monkeys and zealots, whereas I am quite calm. I also primarily game on my PCs, followed by my PS4, and pretty much never my Xbox so it'd be odd if I sounded like an Xbox fanboy.
I don't harbour any irrational hatred for the Xbox though, maybe that is reason enough for you to point fingers?
I'm not saying you are lying as some people really don't pick up on image quality differences, but If you really can't see a difference between streamed sources and UHD blu-ray, you totally wasted your money on a 4k TV. It's night and day.
I don't see how it is great news for Playstation owners. Nothing here suggests the game will be better as a result of this partnership, it simply means some of the content will be witheld from the Xbox version for a little while.
Great news for Sony, but just a continuation of a shitty practice for gamers.
Get a standalone UHD Blu-ray player or Xbox One S as well when you can. The difference between streaming services and UHD blu-ray is staggering.
My primary area of interest at the moment is VR, so I'm very interested to see how the PS Pro + PSVR combo stacks up against the Rift.
But an iPhone fits in a pocket.
Maybe. Or maybe it'll be perceived as less powerful than a home console, and less portable than a mobile phone.
As with every console, they need to deliver games that people really want to play...
More powerful Cortana? Man, Halo 6 Legendary is gonna be brutal.
PSVR is the clear winner, based on the one time initial setup.
Are we playing some whacky game of VR Top Trumps?
Decent video, but not very useful as a comparison piece. Very little detail on the quality of the displays and tracking, and it completely disregards or marginalises the Rift and in doing so basically reduces the whole comparison to 3 different price points.
The Rift actually looks like being the best headset on technical merit. Hand tracking and roomscale arrive in December so they don't count them here, but when you're looking at £350-£800, what's 2 ...
Overwatch loot boxes are stingy and unrewarding. Garden Warfare 2 has a much better model, their sticker packs are crack.
It is relevant to their audience. BBC addresses pretty much the whole British nation, and there are a lot of people out there with maybe a passing interest in VR who will approach it from the same clueless position as this guy.
Mainstream media won't educate people like you or me on anything games related because we're enthusiasts who absorb as much information as we can from enthusiast sources. Articles like this can only provide us some insight on how the mainstre...

Yup, sounds about right.
According to Sony the breakout box doesn't handle the extra frames. it purely does 3D audio, and a bit of processing on the feed that is sent to the TV.
Head tracking would be the bigger challenge./
