Doesn't change the fact that the specs of the PS4 are quite comparable to those of a 5 year old PC.
I don't really see why that simple observation causes so much rectal agony around here.
It would be a little odd with the aim controller, as you typically start most of the scenarios unarmed. Lots of grabbing/throwing objects, and flailing arms. Move would be a better fit.
But who knows, maybe they will tweak the design to place a little more emphasis on guns or something.
Multiplats from the big studios will differ in more ways than just resolution. You only need to take a cursory glance at the PC space to see that.
The lowest common denominator is crucial for the core design of the game, but the elements that are scalable (assets, textures, and a wide array of features we'll just call "visual effects") are built for the top end of the spectrum and scaled down for the respective platforms. Scaling the Xbox One X down to the sa...
CPU bound because they won't provide servers for their always-online game. Servers could and should host the AI, and the bulk of the physics.
Your uncle is Jackie Chan? Cool.
The XBox One X is too powerful. The PS4 Pro has exactly the right amount of power.
Ah.... there's nothing quite like the sound of a man scrapping a barrel in the morning.
The marketing guy pretty much read from the same script Phil Spencer has been using for the last year. He just fluffed his lines a little.
It is, but half of the lines are "Jason?"
Of course he talks about mixed reality, that's how Microsoft label all of their VR head sets on PC. They consider AR and VR to go hand in hand, and ultimately become HoloLens. Everything on the way is a stepping stone.
You would expect Scorpio to support Microsoft's stuff ahead of Oculus or any other headset.
That doesn't explain why they are so evasive about it though. And kudos to the interviewer for pushing the right questions and breaking...
Then I assume it will support Atmos on the One S and PC as well. Atmos isn't new or exclusive to the X.
People like to think always-online requirements will never fly, but it certainly didn't hold back Destiny from success.
You can still play it on the Rift though. Fingers crossed they will even support Oculus SDK and such via Steam as it isn't fans with Rifts that they have legal proceedings against. Even if it doesn't it should be playable.
I would always prioritise reducing the noise over reducing the size. I had no problems with the original Xbox One being huge, as it was also the quietest console I've owned.
The One X has some genuinely impressive engineering behind it, being so small and packing relatively high clock speeds. If the single "large centrifugal fan" is a quiet performer then I tip my hat, but if it blows a storm I'll be a little disappointed.
"I'm so disappointed by this Scorpio news!" - Sony fans.
Do you mean having to have a disc in the drive in order to play the game, like in the dark ages?
UWP is a more likely solution, as I don't think those have been cracked yet. A lot PC gamers are adamantly against UWP though. Still, a lot of the same people are adamantly against Denuvo too, and publishers have shown they're willing to take that backlash on the chin.
I've often thought "VR is a lot like Gangnum Style". Unfortunately when I tried to execute the dance I almost got strangled by the HDMI cable.
The more pirates keep cracking denuvo anti-tamper, the more likely publishers are to gravitate towards UWP. Windows Store will be the beneficiary of that.
I assume "soft bricking" is even worse than regular "bricking". I mean, you can't even build things with soft bricks.
@Goldby I've played a lot of games on consoles, and I have never joined a single club or community. A great many others won't join the community for any given game, and in many cases the audience for 1 game will be fractured across numerous communities anyway. As I said above, LFG serves a different purpose to communities and clubs. Stop being so petty about Xbox having a minor feature that PS4 doesn't, there are plenty of things in PS4's favour (not least of which, it has goo...
Objective observation? Nefarious bastard! I vote we all boycott his game!
