The fact that he carefully specifies "gen 8 consoles" suggests there is some more broad metric that is less favourable? Perhaps NPD tracks PSVR as hardware, and Sony could lay claim to December NPD victory. Something like that anyway.

I'm personally indifferent to the stick position being symmetrical or otherwise, so long as it is comfortable to use. At first glance neither stick looks like it will rest very naturally under the thumb on this one. Hard to say for sure without holding it though.
I don't normally play non-VR racing games any more, but FH3 is a gem. At the very least I'll probably have a dabble with the Hot Wheels expansion content.

@Bluefox the price disparity isn't anywhere near as big as the performance disparity though. The X isn't 2x more expensive than the Pro.

I don't take it as handicapping. More likely it just ensures that every now and again you get a match you can win. Subtle matchmaking tweaks that players probably wouldn't even notice if not for reading about it.
Kinda like the "bad luck protection" you get in WoW to keep the RNG from being overly frustrating. This is "lose streak protection", because winning occassionally makes people feel good and keep playing.

But making the game so challenging as to encourage micro-transactions would not increase player engagement, it would have an adverse effect. Therefore the stats given contradict your theory.
Player engagement obviously leads to greater player spending, no denying EA's motive. Making games enjoyable is surely the "correct" way to go about it though, no?
@Jack The X will have far less players than the cheap consoles, but I bet the X demographic consists of people that buy more games than the average console user.
It isn't gonna win any sales trophies, but I would think it'll make a dent on the multiplatform sales share.
