It was part of the original announcement Xbox themselves made.

Huh, PS?

Yeah, Halo and FH5 are 1st party, and yes too to High on Life being both the biggest 3rd party launch and 3rd biggest overall launch on Game Pass, as well as the biggest 2022 launch. But it wasn't the biggest launch ever.

"two 3rd party games had bigger launches" doesn't make any sense here. Nothing about spin or numbers either. Just a clarification and yes, very well done to the team at Squanch for what's being very well re...

Well, there was a lot that went wrong with this game from the very beginning.

The canvas bag BS. The launch state. The type of content available for the first year. The Gaas-ing of a single player IP.

These player counts are good in isolation but they fall far behind Skyrim and FO4, and at launch their handling of the stupid canvas bag drama alone highlighted just how little they cared about who they were making this for.

Just like with...

The game was the third biggest Game Pass launch ever (behind Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, I'd imagine), but it was the biggest third-party GP launch.

Haven't played it yet myself (wrapping up another game) but I'm very much looking forward to starting it soon

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 looks and runs better than 2 while having more modern rendering techniques. It's an exception to what we've been seeing more and more lately.

Bayonetta 3, Pokemon, retro remakes not hitting a solid 60fps. Developers, in growing proportions, are paying less attention to general performance targets and expectations as time goes on.

It's not the Switch's fault, it is what it is and has been. But when Nintendo's own ...

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon

Exactly. The series has a full title - Bayonetta Origins - and its first iteration is "Cereza and the Lost Demon"

Yeah, I really enjoyed the "open ring" format - its biggest problem was its lack of diversity, not that it was open.

If the story was more fleshed out to have taken us to desert and snow biomes, with weather patterns relative to each, I feel it would've met that potential. Flying end to end like in Horizon with all that variance in between, or grappling up snow-capped hexagons. The gameplay was solid and ready for it.

Sorry, Mark Wahlberg and Tom Holland again, as Kratos and Atreus

Netflix also has/will have Gears of War - both an animated series and a live-action film

It gave you true freedom. No nagging you to use your focus, no telling you to throw your spear after staring at a gap in the path. No microtransactions. No egregiously obnoxious waypoints. A narrative you had to truly play to discover. So many different play styles and near limitless character options.

My favorite game of all time. I think by a mile too.

The average 360 gamer was about as happy as the average PS3 gamer at the time.

PS3 gamers were shafted with a controller that didn't have rumble the first years and 3rd party developers that had no idea how to code for the Cell, and 360 gamers had no confidence that their louder-than-a-jet-engine system would even turn on.

50% off, Xbox's Twitter (or Major Nelson at least) advertised it quite a bit when it was on that sale.

The 360 had Core/Arcade, Premium, and Elite at this point in its lifecycle. Elite releasing shortly before Halo 3.

That's TWO current consoles, one high end, one low end, with TWO price points trailing THREE consoles at $299, $399, and $479.

"It's interesting that we're now ready to acknowledge RROD impact on sales though"

Define "we". 2007 was 15 years ago, did you only just learn about it?

I feel weird being one of the few people on this site that actually really really liked this demo.

Xbox 360 sales in its opening years were heavily influenced by RROD failures. Not to mention that Xbox 360 actually had games in 2007 - Halo 3 in particular, which didn't also release on PC, and the Elite SKU also in 2007 that finally brought HDMI to the console.

Series is negligibly behind Xbox's best generation. Something we've stopped seeing for most of the year are comparisons to the Xbox One since Series blew beyond that pace a long while ago. So relative t...

Tunic was a very special game, I'd put it into a top 5, along with:
Horizon
Ragnarok
Elden Ring

Can't pick a solid 5th, between all the '20-'21 games I played this year and not having played Immortality or Pentiment yet. But Tunic really made you think, simple yet complex, serene yet daunting

Initial impressions from my first 20-30ish minutes are pretty much the opposite. I'm having a blast in it with 120hz enabled in the RT mode on my LG OLED. Colors pop more with 120hz off but I'll gladly take that 40fps.

Definitely interested enough to play through the rest of the demo later but I suppose this is just a divisive game. I can tell this has similar vibes with FFXV though - movement feels so similar and the world looks lit the same way.

Totally, get ready to Use Your Focus for the new Horizon DLC Aloy'll hold your hand through and PC ports for two of the PS5's five exclusives.

After Portal on Nintendo Switch, I'd be very surprised if Alyx never winds up on PSVR2.

Or it could indeed never make it, like Half Life 2 on anything and everything after Orange Box :/
