This article as written is unnecessarily complicated and unfocused. "You’ve probably heard of Amazon. Those not familiar before the current state of things, as sure as Bezos is bald I’d wager a lot of us are now intimately familiar with the leading experts in near instant purchase fulfillment." 2/3rds of the article could be removed if you focused on what the title says - Bethesda's Deal with AWS, and how it relates to Azure. Cutting to the chase:
- Bethesda's low-l...
Remaster or not, there is zero technical reason for this. Pop the disc in, have the system download the PS5 version instead of installing the disc content.
CDPR is giving the 2015 Witcher 3 a free next-gen upgrade for all existing owners. How are third-parties smarter and more respectful to their customers than the darn platform holder?
Can't forget Sony too
Somehow he thinks that he himself is emotionally mature...
Sony didn't parade any cross-gen title until the press release right after the demo of their biggest launch title. The same time as them saying PS4 owners can buy the Ultimate bundle but need to spend another $4/500 to access the entire second game they just bought (because just like Control, they totally just can't link Spider-Man PS4 to the PS5 version)
It would be nice for there to be updates to haptics and tension like the DualSense controller, but as it is...
"They simply buy out other people’s work so they can call it their own".... *looks at Marvel's Spider-Man with sustained side-eye* *looks at the FFXVI exclusivity* *looks at the GTA Online bribery*
"But more and more I feel like Microsoft is simply not trying." *looks at the $7.5 billion cash sale* *looks at auto-HDR* *loo...
As a consumer, that's bad for the industry how?
I could still give them the $50-$70 for the same game on hardware I already have that's more performant than the PS5, which they'd have sold to me at a loss. Sounds like a win-win for both sides
And if he wants to buy the games he plays off the service, he's still fully entitled to do so and with a nice discount.
What's with the narrative going on that treats Game Pass subscribers like they're disallowed from purchasing games? Yikes
We can guarantee PC and Xbox Day 1. But will PS5 versions be delayed?
Remember that Mod Support is severely restricted in Bethesda's games on PS4 because of Sony policies. MS can use that as reasons to rally against PS5 versions in marketing or keep them exclusive to Microsoft platforms, where the developers can distribute their full uncompromised vision.
CDPR is giving a free upgrade to the five year old Witcher 3.
Don't refer to Insomniac like they're a cash-strapped indie dev. This whole Remastered situation is as or more screwy than what's going on with the Control upgrade
If it's BS, then let me explain to you the Spider-Man situation.
MM is a contained story a la Lost Legacy and First Light. It's $50. Or $70 for the version that includes the first game Remastered.
You can get it for PS4 (it was believed to be PS5 exclusive since June). It's part of the PS4-PS5 upgrade system (that Sony didn't believe in, because they believed in generations).
But "it" only refers to Spider-Man:...
Given the efficiency of chip design from AMD, an XSSwitch-like device isn't unreasonable to think of in 2022-23, or a redesign that could make it as small as a Switch or Apple TV.
A $200-$250 plug-and-play-sized unit will kill it for dorm rooms and kids where a big fancy TV doesn't make sense. Throw in Game Pass and the dude-bros get FIFA and Madden for next to nothing.
The 'reboot' was well-received enough that the combat system wont need major changes.
The engine is freshly built and already looked gorgeous.
Generic assets/models/textures are largely built and reusable.
The PS5 SDK is consistent with the PS4's. Deploying changes to faster drives make testing changes that much faster.
I'm going to expect a delay to 2022 because everything gets delayed. But to announce 2021, this late in the covid...
Microsoft promised us Halo this year with trailers that looked better than Demon's Souls and Spider-Man.
Instead, we got the worst gameplay demo of a high-profile game in a generation that prompted a year long delay. And then Demon's Souls and Spider-Man blow it out of the water. Not to mention Ratchet. The God of War 2021 release. The console-exclusivity for FXVI.
By the time DS, SM:MM & Remastered, R&C, GOW2, and maybe even Horizon come ...
There are people with Xbox 1, Xbox 360, and Xbox One discs that will never work on PC. And all of those will get auto-HDR on the X. And not everyone wants to lug their PC to the living room.
Suddenly everyone who could ever consider owning or wanting Xbox is this magical PC gamer?
Only a child is really going to care about obsessing over the definition of "exclusive"
PS4/5 have the best first party exclusives in their ecosystem (can't say PS5 exclusive anymore after HFW flipping)
Xbox Series X has the more powerful hardware, with titles also available on PC and support for 20+ years of Xbox games that are enhanced from their original versions.
"It's also on PC" good grief stop whining and get ov...
Whatever the resolution, Coalition's branch of Unreal Engine is quite amazing in how it smoothly scale resolution with no drop in framerate.
I've no doubt you'll get 1440p looking up at the empty sky, but yeah... it'd be foolish expecting max native resolution on any system at 120fps.
If Guerrilla Games can bring the open-world Horizon Forbidden West to PS4, I'm sure Insomniac would find a way to get a launch-window platformer to run on the thing too.
It was very openly transparent that Spider-Man was never built from the ground up for PS5. The base game is the benchmark for the SSD loading speeds; MM being PS5-only seemed odd in that sense, so I'm not surprised with that one.
Horizon Forbidden West, though... It would be silly for us to think after that flip that GoW2 won't be cross-gen too, especially with franchise history. The original GoW2 launched on PS2 after the PS3 was out for 3 months.
Um, ok? Nothing was wrong with my day. Criticism of your writing style doesn't mean I'm offended, it means as an author you're losing your audience with unneeded details.
Maybe tone down your condescension, because as you can tell I'm not a fan of three-word sentences either.
