270.05GB is absolutely absurd. How can a platform holder even permit this?

It's impossible to install that on Series S if you've got even one big game on there.

Fake rage? Lol, you're the one raging here - I'm pointing out unfair practices that exploit the consumer over things that others do for free *and* with much more ease.

It's obvious Sony has the better games output, and that's why you and others bend backwards to defend those practices. It's okay to acknowledge they have better games *and* at the same time point out that they're taking advantage of that (rather than excusing it as "it is what it ...

Wrong again - it does require manual save transfer through in-game actions. Spider-Man is like this, as is FFVII Remake. The official Ghost of Tsushima Twitter even posted their in-game menu for transferring yesterday.

Horizon Zero Dawn also doesn't have any PS5-aware patch.

I'm comparing a PS4 game to a port of a PS4 game, in an era where the competition releases free upgrades that (1) don't need separate save files and (2) don't need separate dedicated installs. Why are you sticking up for a corporation that is actively exploiting its most loyal fans?

FFVII Remake - one pricing scheme (free upgrade because it's not Sony-published)
Ghost - another
Death Stranding - yet another one
Sackboy - the origin...

The PS4 60fps patch didn't up the resolution, it only increased the framerate. This PS5 version is also not native 4K because they are still utilizing checkerboard rendering at 4K as opposed to checkerboarded 1800p (which is still used for the game's framerate mode, though both seem to hit a consistent 60fps).

So $10 for sensitive triggers/rumble, a few seconds saved here-and-there, and it's a teensy bit sharper. Super necessary fee on a game that's been bey...

Wrong - It does cost more now because of the upgrade. The new Director's Cut is $60 on PS4, $70 on PS5.

The DC content upgrade itself for existing owners is $20 and the separate next-gen upgrade (that requires a full separate download) is $10. So if you spent $60 on the base PS4 game, that's now an $80 investment - $90 if you go all out and turn it into the PS5 version (just remember that you still need the stupid disc inserted even after paying the full $30, and yo...

I would disagree with a lot of this (not marking disagree because your points aren't invalid at all).

Some of the most creative and soulful titles I've played have been over the last two years. Hades and Returnal are roguelikes I never thought I'd be into. RE: Village was so over the top yet well-realized with its story that it's my favorite of the franchise. TLOU2 had the most intense scenes I've experienced in a game's story, and Ghost of Tsushima ...

The tips a couple of you guys think are tips are just "don't do this" and "don't play that". How to fall back in love with games: the jaded edition.

If seeing a streamer play Fortnite makes you want to try a third-person shooter for no upfront cost, you do you. Or if your friends play Warzone, that's cool too.

If F2P crap drove you away from gaming, look into PlayStation's single player lineup. If you're burnt out o...

I didn't get the marshmallow thing either, who doesn't like marshmallows? And rainbows are awesome because it means the desert finally got wet.

Salads suck though. Toss them out.

I have my doubts on the prices being brought down to anything reasonable for the foreseeable future on discrete cards, but I think this really puts pressure on AMD and the inferiority of FSR (in comparison to DLSS), Nvidia and how locked down DLSS is, and the relevance of consoles.

Imagine in 2023 a $700 laptop at Costco with games at XSX/PS5-quality optimized with a potential open-source version of everything DLSS offers.

Right. This is a Game Pass issue, not an average-developer-making-gener ic-sandy-brown-looter-shooter-f or-publisher-that-doesn't- g et-service-games issue.

(First time seeing someone post two primary comments in the same article just to troll)

It's an interesting omission still because the Guide sticks to HDR when you're playing an HDR game. So they have had *some* parts of the OS capable of displaying in HDR for a long time, back to the One X.

It was just such a perfect OS, users were installing PS4 versions of PS5 games.

Black Friday sale this year I'll finally get it. I haven't heard legitimate complaints about the campaign. With Black Panther out soon and Spider-Man presumably next, I look forward to that "25 hours" of single-player content they've been stamping in their latest IG ads

You guys are creepy with this Phil obsession. It's pretty gross by now.

SSDs make load screens a thing of the past.

Quick Resume attempts making reloading a thing of the past. When it works, it's amazing. As a PC gamer I would love a Windows-level feature enabling this

Quick Resume is automatically applied, so if you've played 2 games on a Series console, there's a 99% chance you've used it.

"obvious reasons"

Developers have had enough time with the new SDKs to account for this, especially the first-party studios that continue actively updating their games (looking at you 343 - both of your games do this!) - after X time has passed, refresh the network stack.

It is not hard, refreshing authentication credentials is Software Engineering 101. If the reasons for faulty functionality are so obvious and unfixable, MS should disable those...

I find it works very inconsistently.

Ninja Gaiden 2 - played that entirely through Quick Resume states. No issues.
Yakuza 0 - 19 hours in, been in Quick Resume for multiple weeks/full reboots/a power outage. No issues.

Flight Sim didn't seem to work at first, but now has been for a couple days.

Skyrim with FPS Boost - after a day in QR, the framerate tanks. After several hours in QR, framerate is unstable and returns to 60 ...
