Its not going to help PC gaming, i agree with you.
Infact all its going to be doing is making companies go out of business.
Imagine if DX11 is all what are going to be focusing on for the next 10 years and software wont be progressing much in terms of hardware requirements. Then no one will need to buy hardware from:
Intel, AMD, Nvidia. Not only them even the motherboard manufacturers, Ram, Hard drive Etc will be effected.

I 100% agree.
Personally i feel Consoles this gen have abused the consumer base pretty much. Lets start with afew pointers:
Pay to go online (this is a joke)
Content being stripped out of games to be sold as DLC, its happening in many games now.
Consoles charge 10-20usd more per game at launch vs PC versions.
Delayed patches vs PC versions
No user freedom. There used to be a time ...
As a PC gamer and a diehard Steam fan i wouldnt buy it.
Simply because my Current PC is simply too powerful and nothing any console maker or valve can provide will out do it.
Give the users some freedom and them mod capabilities, i am sure innovation will be back in the game.
Unfortunately Greedvision wont do this because they will lose out on DLCs.
"Its a PC with no BC."
Let me correct that a bit
Its a PC with:
No BC
Limited functionality
Locked down
Expensive accessories
Limited upgrade path
Royalties on every game bought
Has its controls in the hands of the maker.
List goes on.
"One would think that Sony would have learned from their previous mistakes. After they decided to discontinue backwards compatibility in the Playstation 3, Sony decided to make a number of Playstation 2 titles available for download through the Playstation Market."
Why should they give BC when they ccan make money of HD remakes. Anyways most people on here dont seem to care about BC anyways. Personally i dont think Sony will be offereing BC on the PS4 either. Lot...
So why are DLCs then planned before the game is even released. Its obvious they want to be penny pinching the customers for everything.
All development should happen for the game before release. Anything that is to be sold as DLC should be a later production.
Shouldnt be too different then Masseffect 1 lol. Hardware requirements have hardly progressed at all in the last few years.
I personally played ME 2 maxed out on my laptop with a GTX 260M GPU. That laptop is about 4 years old now.
@deadlllRed
Yes nothing is standard on the PC and thats a good thing, standards create limitations.
As for 1080p even the entry level GPUs manage it very well these days. Hence if you want to game on a PC, 1080p is very easy to acheive.
It already is standard..... on the PC.
So many people failing at comprehending what they read its not even funny.
When i said i am not a fanboy i ment i am not a fan of any console. Sure i am a PC fan. However since i am not a console fan i am not biased toward any one of them. Which places me in a position where i really dont care which one performs better.
However from most reviews it can be judged that the 360 does perform better.
Now regarding 3D being a gimmick on conso...
@cartilo
First i am not a fanboy, i dont own any of the toyboxes. I am a PC gamer, hence i am not biased toward any of the consoles, i look down upon both of them. However as a neutral person i am not blinded toward any machine and i can say most of the time the 360 does perform better. I did say they do exchance places, however most of the time its the 360 that is ahead.
Infact many of the time the PS3 version of arent even playable. Recent examples bei...
What sort of fools do these devs take the PS3 gamers for? Everytime a game is about to release they feel the need to assure the PS3 gamers that their platform will be the best. Yet when the game roles out its almost always:
1. PC (even if its a entry level PC).
2. Xbox 360
3. PS3
Its funny though PS3 gamers on this site most of the time fall for developers crap whos just looking to sell his game.
Now the PS3 and Xbox m...
"Their one saving grace is Call of Duty."
Maybe financially, There is nothing innovative about COD though. If COD gets tired Activision is screwed.
Though yea they do have the golden goose at Blizzard World of Warcraft, which seems to be losing client base. I think people generally are switching to the free to play type MMOs.
Lol dude i am a PC gamer, nevermind high end pc gaming even lower end pc gaming is better than console. Infact i dont even own a console.
However its time we faced the truth, games are developed for the lowest denominator. When developers are like Crytek are first designing their games for consoles, i see no reason why the next bio wont be a port.
All of this makes a compelling argument against buying any more upgrades for the PC.
Hardware is useless without the software. Games are now designed with 6 year old hardware in mind. Only people really able to utilize this tech are people who want to play on Multiple screens (oh wait the last gen GPUs already did that). This time you can have multiple screens and 3D all at once.
For anyone want to play at lowly 1080p the last 2 gens of hardware is more then enough.

Considering MS launched a gimmick like Kinect with a 500m USD budget i would think 50M isnt much at all.
Download fraps you can record all you like. Dont need to wait on them to provide you a recorder lol.

Its a resource hog yea, but space naa i dont think so.
Dam the game has been out for so long, PC and 360 users been enjoying since the start. Why is it PS3 gets shafted on the biggest games of the year?
This year its been BF3, Skyrim of the top of my head.
Well the more important question is, there is no software to strain GPUs. Unless you want to be playing on multiple screens with 3D or want to run some insane scientific calculation.
Most games run fine 8800GTX from 5 years back and if you want to be stressing out DX11 effects then even the most stressful game of this gen like BF3 runs great on a 5870 from 3 years back. Leave out the few stressful games and there really isnt much to warrant an upgrade.
Hence ...
