PS3 was released in 2006, 8800GTX came in the same year and it did significantly out(it still does till this very day). Anyone wanting to make a current PC at that time would be out of their mind to pick up a last gen GPU(just like how anyone would pick a 6XX or 7XXX series GPU when making a PC today). Specially if they had a budget to make a 700-800usd rig (this was when the PS3 cost 600usd). The same 800usd rig would have atleast gotten fixed with 2gigs of ram ...

Sure we have graphics cards that cost 1000usd, however those are not required to game. Most people would be happy with a 200usd gpu, and wont really need to upgrade for 2-3 years atleast.

Comparing a 1000usd GPU to a console is very unfair, its like comparing a Ferrari to a toyota Tercel. Hell the 200usd GPU would look like a BMW to the consoles tercel.

Real men dont need cheerleaders to help them become successful.

PC - is a success on its own, hell developers shows off their games on PC just to impress the fans. Too bad the console fans later on get dissapointed when they see the same game on their console.

Consoles- Well they constantly need cheerleading from either MS, Sony or Nintendo to hold their own.

Among all the platforms id classify the PC as the real man ;-)

In the long run its the consoles that are more expensive.

500usd PCs run circles around consoles, they have been doign so since the last couple of years. Diffrence is consoles stay at a price of 300usd, while performance stays stagnant. While PC of the same price just keeps getting better.

First 200usd difference isnt exactly bank breaking. Its the price most people pay for a new console, then end up paying more for every game bought, also pay to go online an...

PS3 and Xbox are about 6 years old, there is no way Wii U is going to be weaker or even as strong as them. Even if Nintendo used the cheapest PC tech currently available it would still be way more powerful than PS3 or Xbox 360. Anyone thinking otherwise need to get their brains checked.

You speak of 3D, buying an expensive 3DTV for it yet are being penny wise foolish on the hardware used to render the 3D.

Certainly people looking for 3D, last thing on their mind is a budget.

Anwways a 500usd PC will easily do 3D alot better than any console can. Here is a link to one right now:

http://ww...

PC can too can hooked up to a 3D projector. Infact you could do 3 projectors at one go for a super huge eyefinity effect, i think that would be amazing.

On the 3D topic, i think the list of 3D games on consoles are limited to about 50 games, Ones that support 3D and Move maybe limited to 10 games. Lol you could probably hook up the move to the PC and enjoy alot more games.

They dont mention what GPU will be used. Which imo is the most important part when it comes to gaming. Until a GPU spec is clarified no one can say how powerful this will be.

I think naming it Wii U is ending up causing the confusion. If they must have the name Wii, then i would suggest they name it Wii 2.

Though whats funny is what identified the Wii was motion gaming. The Wii U doesnt seem to be having any focus on that front.

First they havent mentioned about coop play being exclusive.

Second even if it was exclusive, that is nothing to be proud about. Imo this gen has given the fans plenty of crap when it comes to exclusivity. Companies do it to rake in sales its obvious. However for the gamers its a lose lose situation.

Today Sony may get an exclusive, PC and Xbox gamers will miss out. Later one of the other 2 platforms may get an exclusvie and Sony gamers would lose out.

@FlashXIII

Thats because most console games are designed around p2p type of play and dont have dedicated servers.

Also console makers dont like it if people keep playing the same old games, its bad for business. Hence they want to have a way to pull the plug on a game. This doesnt happen on PC because its an open platform and people tend to find work arounds. There are even thirdparty softwares that allow people to host Lan games via the internet. PC users ju...

Those are PC games you are refering to. PC games are known to have a large life. With console things are different.

Notice how not only do Servers get shutdown, but even games are not compatible from one gen to another. People are later given HD remakes. With PC older games just can be played on your current machine. Hell i am currently playing some some old Dos games via Dosbox.

Hence you cant compare those 2 platforms, one is open ...

Yes agreed however the game itself looks terribly dated and i am a PC gamer. I dont think ME franchise has progressed at all graphically since ME 1.

I dont think its an issue with the economy. If it was Apple wouldnt be selling Iphones hand over fist. They are worth 600billion usd now. Its like going from rags to riches in afew years.

Imo its just the console business model which requires the makers to sell at loss initially, which bleeds them to death. Which probably is the reason why this gen has been dragged so long.

Bluray capacity has nothing to do with Maxing a console out. Its just a storage medium. A storage medium can in no way influence the performance of a machine. Sure you may get more content on it but thats it.

However in game performance will not be effected by the extra size of storage medium. Infact most games have to installed to play anyways, reading a game installed from your HD is much more efficient and faster than reading from a Bluray or DVD. Why do you think the best...

@Pushagree

Its not Valves fault if console makers are restrictive and dont like it when free stuff comes to their hardware:

TF2 on PC has hundreds of maps for free.
Left4dead 2 on PC has all DLCs free.
Portal 2 on PC has thousands of user made maps.

Why this doesnt make it to consoles is because console makers rather want DLCs sold, its as simple as that. Its not just Valve that doesnt release editing kits for consoles...

Upgrading every 6 months is a Myth. Hell latest hardware has a 1 year refresh cycle, so how would you upgrade every 6 months lol.

Asides my home gaming rig which is a very beastly setup i have a laptop whhich is 3 years old, it comes equipped with a 5870m GPU, My laptop plays most games today maxed out. Even though laptop varients of GPUs are usually 1-2 gens behind the desktop varients. I guess that takes care of the upgrading Myth.

Most games today already ...

I hope an emulator is available for the Wii U, just as quick it was for the Wii. Ill just buy the games play them on the PC.

Anyways Wii U probably will be a low spec machine, will be amazing if an emualtor is out soon.

@gamer1982

PS3 and Xbox 360 are 6 years old, i dont see a reason why Wii U should be anywhere close to those power levels, it should be a far ahead. Regardless of how conservative Nintendo likes to get.

@Wesker

Sony already does give its games to windows. Check out Vanguard, Everquest etc.

So many competing companies launch their products on Windows, just because its owned by MS doesnt mean a thing. MS office is availabe on Mac, both of them being competitors doesnt mean a thing.

You could Include Dota, Shogun 2, BF3(real game), Left4Dead 2 (again good version).

Along with a whole host of multiplats that just dont run well on console, with no mod support or customization.

@blondie

You can play any Mario title, Zelda, Super smash brothers on the PC and that too in 1080p lol. In fact you can play more Mario games on PC than on a Nintendo system. Since PC emulates every Nintendo system every created lol. Personally...
