So tell us why the PS3 cant outperform a 8800GTX backed by any dual core CPU.

Its obvious console optimization is there, however its not that big of a difference. They may at max squeeze out 10% more performance from a console.

When Crysis originally rolled out people with 7800GTX (same gpu on the PS3), played the game on PCs at low/med settings 720p 25-30fps. Guess what settings PS3 plays Crysis 1 in 2011? its about the same. ...

Yes people have lost jobs, however check the recent US data. US seems to be on its way to recovery. Many jobs have recovered.

Also note even at its worst point, unemployment in the US was never above 9%, which means 91% of the population is still employed. Hence as long as that employed population is getting their salaries, its only the media creating a fear in the peoples mind.

Even when we were in a boom in the US, unemploy...

@Pixl

I think you need to research a bit check out this GPU, its a 6770, it will run BF3 at much better settings than a console can and yes it will do 1080p maybe not in high, but sure it will do high and medium mix:

This baby costs only 89usd, it is atleast 3 times more powerful than any console out today.

It was Sager, it was a dual core cpu with hyperthreading, so it was an I5 Cpu.

You really dont need to be upgrading year to year, unless you have money to burn.

While i do have a monster rig, i also have a 2 year old laptop with the following spec:

Dual core cpu 2.4ghz
HD 5870M
4 gigs ram

Those specs in desktop terms would be equal to a 5 year old high end PC. This laptop runs most games at 1080p, something which is not possible on console, since consoles run 95% of their games at 720p or below. ...

Then you havent seen a PC running games @ 1080p on TV.

I am sure if 4K TVs were out today, and you had a PC with high end GPUs in SLI or CF running games maxed out at that res, the difference would be very noticible.

Lol hold your horses. PC gaming generally is few gens ahead of consoles.

Back in the mid 1990s when there was no concept of HD, PC gamers were already playing in HD resolutions. I remember i was personally playing at 1600*1200 back in 1998 thats equal to about 1080p of today.

This gen while console makers have come up with gimmicky terms (HD) to promote ancient hardware, PC gamers again are playing at resolutions which probably wont be possible on a console e...

@irebtown

Thats a misconception with many people unfortunately.

A decent gaming PC will barely cost you 500GBP. If you already have a PC at home which is anywhere between 3-4 years old, then it will only cost you a GPU to out perform consoles. A GPU that out performs consoles will barely cost 80gpb.

Further on dont forget every game bought on PC is cheaper. PC versions of games also go on discount much quicker than the console counter parts. ...

Naa we arent. I personally bought a game like Mass effect 3 at launch for 36 usd, same goes for BF3 sure those were PC versions.

Also the kind of discounts available on Steam or D2D make gaming so cheap, i dont see a reason to complain when most new games within 2-3 months are selling between 15-25usd.

Now if people are complaining about console games, then yea console gaming is pretty expensive. Console games go on sale between 60-75usd(depending on your reg...

@ares

You realise, indirectly most games already cost more than 60usd. This is because most games now a days already come with DLCs at launch. Hence most people already pay more than 60usd for games.

Having the option to sell the same games and buy new ones was what kept people buying new games. Games on consoles are simply to expensive to buy and not being able to sell the previous game will further limit budgets hence this may lead to a slow down in game sa...

Yep they can cut down the cores, cut down the MHZ. As long as a architecture is efficient and powerful thats what really counts.

Just like GTX 680 is out performing GTX 580 yet less consumption of power. You can expect the same to happen in the cell phone market. Less power drain more power.

Activision would just direct them to MS and Sony for not releasing new hardware.

COD formula relies on smooth 60fps gameplay. Consoles currently dont have another First person shooter that runs at 60fps. The only reason COD manages it is because it looks crap. Now before the console fanboys start throwing names of games that run at 60fps, most of those games look crap if they are managing 60fps on the current consoles or they might be having too many static environments. Henc...

No surprise there, PC already has over 600 titles running in 3D :P

Personally i dont like 3D gives me a head ache specially when playing games on it, in the cinema its more bearable.

Though its funny platforms that specially used 3D as a marketing checkmark barely have 35 games in 3D.

Dam you console gamers look desperate for some new hardware.

Why is it that you limit yourself to some companies decisions? its like waiting for MS and Sony to make a call for when they think is the right time for you to get an upgrade.

Lol even the upgrade seems pretty half assed this time around from the rumored specs. Looks like Both MS and Sony want to be making profits asap this time around hence wont even be going for mid range PC left overs. Instead th...

Nvidia has certainly out done AMD on this one. What i like about Nvidia is not only their solid hardware, but the consistent driver support for their products. IMO solid drivers alone put Nvidia ahead of AMD.

5071d ago 6 agree2 disagreeView comment

I dont really care if the GTX 680 doesnt out perform the 7970, even if it is on par i would still go Nvidia.

This is purely because of better driver support from Nvidia.

You can have the best of hardware, however without driver support it will fail. Specially AMD has a record of not supporting hardware properly few years into its life.

I personally have 2 gaming laptops one which features Nvidia GTX 260m another with a HD5870. The laptop with...

Dota 2 is will be amazing.

In a day and age where games are dumbed down for the casual gamers, Dota stands out from the crowd. I really dont know when this will be coming out, however for the hardcore gamer who enjoys complex games and a game that will probably make it big when it comes to esports Dota 2 probably wil be the game to own.

I personally started playing Dota 1 few months ago and cant get enough of it, even though its a mod for a 10 year old game (...

The author of the article is a complete moron. He has no idea how tech works.

He wants:

Multicore tech support - I agree

High density disc - I agree

4K Support- Hes delusional if he thinks 4K support is needed. He himself said its rendering at 2x of 1080p, where will the power come from?

Revised graphics- Now to point out why the author has no idea about tech. Sure you can push the GPUs to 925mhz however with...

Do that too bro. I personally have a GTX 580 Sli.

3 screens that are all 3D enabled. Its great playing games on 3 screens, 3D not so much.

With the level of power my current GPus are outputting i dont think i will be upgrading any time soon. Mind you these GPUs only get stressed when on 3 screens.

For the normal public who want to be playing on 1 screen. A GPU like 5870 is more then enough. Set aside the few games like BF3 which probably wont...
