"Lol the age of the console means nothing."

Sure, by that measure developers might as go back to programing for the PS2 better yet the PS1. There is only 1 game on the PS3 that runs 256 players and all of us know while doing so it looks like a PS2 game. I dont see what prompts you to make a comparison with a graphics intensive game like BF3.

"I love how some people try too blame the console hardware but never the software."

They are 6 years old, what more do you expect of them?

@sjaakiejj

You only contradict yourself, at one point you say Cell is a CPU designed to do GPU tasks. Yet Sony saw fit to get a RSX because Cell wasnt good enough. It was pretty clear 8800GTX at release clearly outperformed RSX at GPU intensive tasks, mean while Sony saw RSX superior to the Cell which is why they installed one in the PS3. Hell most of the PS3 GPU intsensive tasks are handled by the RSX not the Cell. Cell merely offloads some tasks. If it was so powerful it ...

@skaakiejj

"Cell is not a GPU, and Cell is not the RSX."

Cell is Part CPU part GPU. Unfortunately it fails badly at both, which is why Sony had to get a real GPU from Nvidia. If the GPU tasks were left to the Cell PS3 would be no where as good as it is today.

When it comes to general processing CPU tasks an Intel or AMD Dual core CPU will outperform the Cell. If the Cell was such a good CPU you would have seen it in everday PC...

"Regardless, it was the most powerful processor of its time"

One would have to wonder what sort of Crack Sony fed you lol.

"Back when Sony announced the specifications of the PlayStation 3, everyone asked if it meant the end of PC gaming. After all Cell looked very strong and NVIDIA's RSX GPU had tremendous power. We asked NVIDIA how long it would take until we saw a GPU faster than the RSX. Their answer: by the time the PS3 ships. So ...

That depends where you are investing. Sure the western world may be in a fix. However the East is booming.

Countries like China, India, Australia, Saudi Arabia etc are all in a boom.

I bet people who invested in Apple are pretty darn happy.

Kaz may be good, however to turn around the companys current situation will take a miracle.

Something on the verge of what Ipod did for Apple. Personally i dont see anything like ...

Well obviously it must be the shareholders money that must have got butchered. I think in the current situation anyone will be reluctant to invest in Sony.

Once the investors dry out, Sony probably will find themselves in a tough spot(not to say they already arent).

Besides they are competing with giants like MS and probably Apple in the future. Both companies worth over 200B USD and 600B USD.

@shayol33t

You are right its not from Valve, however MS and Sony may want a cut, Left4Dead had all its DLC charged on the Xbox360, while PC version was completely free.

I dont think things will be any different for CS Go.

Not everyone has the luxury of gaming on PC. Additional maps may be charged as DLC on consoles.

I dont like the constant mandatory updates on consoles. Cant even play while those updates go on.

Atleast on PC, its my choice when i want to update and no ones telling me sorry you cant go online because you didnt update yet lol.

Why not just hope all 3 of them go out of business, so this industry can start progresssing again. Its been on a halt since the last 6 years.

Console companies are dying.

Nintendo is making losses now.

Sony back in 2000 was worth 200billion usd, now is worth 20 billion usd.

MS well they arent doing to good either.

CONSOLE GAMING IS DYING.

Remember you heard it here first.

@raymantalk1

Well if DX emulation gets good enough on Linux sure that day may not be far.

Though yea all of us would love to see Linux as an alternative to Windows for gaming.

@Superm

What part of 8800GTX outperforming consoles do you not understand?

8800GTX was released before the PS3. Till date it plays most games out in 1080p, PS3 or Xbox 360 barely play 5% of their games in 1080p.

So no a PC from 2006 equipped with a 8800GTX will easily outperform any console, its that simple.

@badz149

8800GTX was out by the time Crysis released. 8800GTX was one of the best selling GPUs from Nvidia ever. Infact many people are using it today too. 4 years into its life its still trucking along out performing consoles in about every game.

8800GTX could easily play crysis in high settings in 1080p and extreme settings in 720p. Crysis in those settings still blows anything out the water conosles have to offer today.

Lets just sa...

Onlive would be luckly to beat good old 8800GTX lol. That beast till date roflstomps consoles in just about any game.

Completely throws console optimization theory out the window lol.

I think what has happened:

PC gaming has gotten significantly cheaper here are few reasons why:

Online DD and the sort of sales those networks offer. Also since games are also designed to run with console tech in mind (which is very old from a tech perspective, PC users also dont need upgrades). Previously in the PC industry every 1-2 years a monster game used to roll out which needed massive upgrades to be playable. Now since those sort of games are few ...

They are used to ill treatment, hence they always get shoved hard. Things only get worse for them over a period of time.

There is a history of examples:

MS launches XBL gold charges for online (they charge for GFWL as well):

PC gamers retaliate and get online free, console gamers bend over.

Activision removes Dedicated servers from COD:

PC gamers retaliate and get server back, Console gamers bend ov...

I dont think Uncharted looks anywhere as good as Crysis. Also remember Uncharted is a highly linear game, Look around the corners u will see low res textures everywhere, specially at the places they dont want you looking. In any case Uncharted isnt there on the PC so you cant make a direct comparison.

Make an apples to apples comparison, back in the day when Crysis 1 was released many people were still sporting 7800GTX (which is about equal to the...

@Winter47th

I think the reason PC gamers complained about L4D2 coming so soon is because they know that a new L4D just means new maps. Which can really come as a DLC for free (at least on the PC).

Console gamers on the hand are used to paying up for sequel after sequel. What what has happened with a series like COD due to console gamers taking it up the hind like its no ones business. You get a yearly release + DLC, aside that Modding tools to make custom...
