To summarize this article for others: Android can be rooted. Users will likely root the Ouya. Game Developers beware.
"The Ouya console developers need to be aware of this"...considering $8+ million was pledged, and the names behind this, I'm pretty sure the developers know what they are getting into without the need for a sad attempt at an opinion piece by this site. Seriously people, at least put "some" effort into your articles and bring in some num...
If true, very cool. Better include wifi co-op.
Nice. I think I'll still wait for Zen. I had it on my 360 (RIP) and I loved it.
This is amazing news! Zen announced a few months ago that they had Vita plans but yesterdays' announcements makes the news all-the-better. I can't wait for the Vita release. I'll be buying quite a few tables when it does :D
I'd like to point out that in the case of Vita, thus far it's been quality over quantity. Sony has really pulled for developer support. They've even gone as far as having a few games pushed back so-as to space out the release dates.
Gravity Rush/Daze is a prime example. It was originally scheduled to come out shortly after the NA Vita launch but has been pushed back to June.
This is SMART and I applaud Sony and the publishers because it means we a...
I think a SOCOM 2 HD as a PSN-only release, with full multiplayer, would be exactly what the fans want. Wouldn't mind seeing PS3/Vita cross-play. After playing Unit 13, I would really like to see a *good* shooter with online multiplayer.
I can get $22.40 at GS right now thanks to their 50% trade-in bonus. If I sold it on eBay I lose out on too much via fees.
Yes, but they've made a few SOCOM games, and their recent RE:ORC game had so much promise.
Unfortunately. What that studio needs is a better director. They can make OK games, but they need someone who can push/guide the team to really add some polish. EVERY game they've made is OK, but if it just had a *little bit* more polish, it might be been good/great.
I think, for me, the nail in the coffin was the lack of competitive online multiplayer for Unit 13. Hopefully the resources go to a more deserving studio.
EDIT: I want to at least mention that Unit 13 IS fun, and the controls are pretty damn good for the Vita. BUT...no online multiplayer pretty much made this a pass for me. I'll be trading it in tomorrow most likely, hoping to recoup at least $20-25 if possible.
They took out the power lines, but it definitely looks more crisp. Perhaps I'll finally play this game through. Now...if only we could get a release date.
Touché. But in all seriousness, this is definitely a game where I want to sit back on the couch or in bed and really plan my strategy when it comes to fighting my way through the different area's. And as Eromu said, "Near" features would be quite intriguing.
@Rolento - You do know that Dark Souls is essentially a sequel, From Software just couldn't use the "Demon's Souls" name due to licensing with Sony.
So yeah, do some research next time, perhaps then you won't look like such an ass.
Give me a PS Vita version so that I can keep dying in the comfort of my bed and I'll buy it.
Namco, take my money!
The music and movie industry especially have only themselves to blame for the mess their industries are in. Look no further than "John Carter". It supposedly cost $250 million to make that piece of garbage and it only brought in $30 million this weekend. A good movie does not need such a ridiculous budget.
Buying used is putting money into that stores' pockets, not the developer or publisher. So yes, people should pay a bit extra if they are buying used. Perhaps people will smarten up eventually and just pay the extra $5-10 for a game and support the dev/pub so that they can continue to make games you want to play...
Indeed, and hopefully they announce pricing soon. Considering the experience is going to be on a much smaller screen, I don't think they can get away with charging the same sub. fee for the PS Vita version as they would with the PC version. And I can already imagine the PC sub. fee is going to be $9.99-$14.99.
If SEGA is spending the money to make the Vita version, they are going to want to get it into gamers' hands. A $10 monthly fee for a Vita game isn't going ...
Am I the only person who feels the OP is wrong? Previews are often short sections of a game, completely detached from the final experience. It's why preview trailers for movies often look good and get great praise, only to be reviewed terribly once the full movie comes out.
If anything, the developers/publishers are to blame for essentially pushing the best of the game during previews, and then hoping that those shining moments are enough to keep reviewers from posting te...
Augmented reality would be a great addition!
Agreed. But more importantly, has a COD game EVER impressed visually? COD on the current gen consoles have ALWAYS looked washed out and slightly tarnished at the edges. I don't see anything different with COD Vita.
I'll wait to play it first, but if the game actually plays well, I couldn't care less if the visuals are first-gen PS3...
