Yes, Pather's comments are mostly common knowledge in the gaming community. I to wonder why everything that comes out of his mouth is posted especially considering how looked down on he is at N4G.
As far as Nintendo, while I am happy that they have gone in the direction of games and made them the focus of the presentation, I am upset that these are just the same games over and over with nothing really classified as "new". Save for Epic Mickey which seems to...
A game like this screams for a "Choose your Character: Melee or Ranged" or a Co-op feature but unfortunatly you get neither with this title.
A 3rd person shooter is roughly a Western genre with big titles such as Gears or War and Uncharted leading the way. I'm worried that rather than try to enhance the experience or make it there own, they will simply try to imitate to try to recreate the success.
I'm also curious to see how the Easter...
I highly doupt a Kingdom Hearts 3. Nomura is just too busy (or rather should be busy) with VersusXIII. They would almost have to give it to another team if they want it to be released within the next few years.
The other mentioned games wouldn't really effect me all that much as my tastes are a bit different than others (Such as loving the first Asssassin's Creed more than the second). Though I have nothing against them and for the fan's sake I hope they get ...
You know I was going to make a point about "pick up and play" style of games but I couldn't think of how to phrase it.
I'm making an assumtion over how the industry thinks of casuals from the direction the industry seems to be moving. Natal, Move, the Wii's lack of more mature titles, all point to the defined "casual" audiances.
Yes there are those gamers that just can't spent as much time gaming as they could so t...
It's not the "casual" gamer I have an issue with, it's the industries take on how they define one.
The industry thinks that a "casual" gamer is someone who gets confused with more than 3 button inputs, starts to kick and screams with the slightest bit of difficulty, and refuses to try anything that isn't dipped in flowers and fairy dust.
I have never felt so strongly about not wanting a remake in my life. I still say no to a Final Fantasy VII remake with all my heart and soul. There is too high a risk that SquareEnix will just make it one giant mystake.
Too many people, fans especially, are too worried thinking about if SquareEnix "could" make a remake of one of the most beloved classics of all time. Those same fans don't seem to stop and think if SquareEnix "should" make it or n...
I have seen footage of the game and have read some articles about what to expect. I have no doupt the games melee system will have stong God of War influences. The God of War series did many things right in that regard. As far as "Knockoff"? That remains to be seen. Dante's Inferno was the purest form of knockoff this generation I have ever seen.
I, personally, would have to wait and see some constant footage of the gameplay or better yet play it myself...
Kojima himself was supposed to have been overseeing the prodject Castlevania: Lord of Shodows as his team is helping with the development.
Hopefully, that high quality development will show itself here.
No, I don't think we will be seeing Final Fantasy VsXIII at E3. If anything the game will be shown at the Tokyo Game Show. Along with any other major announcments that effects the Japanese community more than the Western market.
SquareEnix has truly gone out of there way to segregate the regions this generation. The horrible thing is they think they know what the west wants more than the west does.
Most games that truly bring out what a console is made of are released during the early stages of a new consoles release. It's fair to assume that we will not see the current consoles maxed until the new consoles have been out for at least a year after the "new generation" has started.
Though with the serge of the casual market we may see a bit of a dely of any new hardware, since the Wii has shown that horsepower isn't the only statagy you need to be su...
The issue with lag, to me, is a pointless debate. I expect most games for this periferal to be very casual experiences that don't require a great deal of persition.
I'm also not curious about the implimentation of the more hardcore genre's such as shooters, because I believe that natal will be for the Xbox what the Sixaxis is to the PS3, an additional input method, not a replacment.
Therin lies the problem. Natal is a seperate device from th...
In fairness the game would take a great deal of time and effort to be remade. Sure the story is already there but they would still have to go through the production like they would a completely new game.
The characters would need to be re-designed all of them including the extras. They would need to redesign the world map for the new engine, the monsters, the area's of play, the effects, the sounds. It would have to be built again from the ground up to accomidate for ...
Hm an interesting question. Are they becoming stale? I don't think so, I think games are suffering from being on the main stream market. Video games have taken off in the public eye unfortunatly that leads to the more buisness mindset of companies. New Ideas now are being shelved in favor of "cash crop" franchices.
There are new and great ideas out there but they are now being forced to swim upstream against current market buzz, blockbuster franchises, and...
I'm afraid I don't quite agree with you, especially on Squares policy on money.
It wasn't always about the money for the company. A little game called Final Fanatsy 7 proves that.
When Square found out that Nintendo would be staying with cartrige technology rather than the rumored CD they were a bit upset. There was no way the cartrage could handle the emence vision they had for their first venture into 3D tech. Sony however did launch wit...
I think the trouble is that the east asks themselves, "How can we attract a Western audiance?" at the same time these western devs are told to keep the east in mind during development.
If they just sit up and just make the game from the heart. With passion. With soul. It will win over the gamers by itself without the need to "cater" to different regions.
I've often ponder what the confirences will be like. In respect to Microsoft I think most people would assume by now that most title announcments for the Xbox will come from other publishers. Microsoft tends to only announce the aquisition of previously exclusive titles or timed (though not announced as such) exclusive content for upcoming titles.
As the release of it get's nearer and nearer I expect alot of time devoted to the Natal prodject. An enlongated dem...
I believe he mentioned this in a previous interview that he was not a fan of the Tekken series.
I myself must admit that Tekken for me has gone downhill. The best Tekken game for me was Tekken 4. They tried something different, a down to earth story, a smaller character list, dynamic levels, and a design look that is still my favorite for the series.
Now though, Tekken is just a case of "who connects with their launcher first." The player l...
I also felt the assault class needed a bit of a tweak for multiplayer, since most players just ran around with one of any 2 rocket launcher choices. Removing the smaller one would be my first suggestion as the point of them currently is "anti-bot".
For the larger one, the assault class should be forced to "take-a-knee" which would take a second or two, then they would bring up a targeting scope which would add another second or two. That way the assua...
All these news articals about this deal make it seem as though Insomniac has abandoned the Playstation brand on sided exclusivly with the Xbox.
That's not the case at all, I believe. This is a chance of Insomniac to stretch their legs, share some new ideas, and be on their own for a little while.
The Xbox brand belongs to Microsoft. Insomniac didn't strike an exclusive deal with Microsoft, they made a multiplate deal with EA. So why is the medi...
I am personally worried about a Resistance 2 repeat. Where there is a real change in gameplay and feel to the finished product that removes what made the first game fun in the first place.
When a good game happens it's not just because of gameplay, or just because of graphics. It's a combination of everything. Everything in Infamous worked and worked well. I'm just worried that changing even the character design or art design will be enough to through the ti...
