I didn't mean to get so personal, but I just hate fanboys of all denominations sprouting crap simply because someone doesn't hold the same opinion.
Last time I checked most of us come from Western democracies, and whilst we can disagree I don't think it excuses disrespect and name calling.
It's that very freedom of expression that some fanboys (PS3 & 360) want to suppress with reviewers, but that also gives them the masterpiece that is MGS4. I just find it madden...

Yeah mate. Here's the best primer you'll ever find and the most amazing thread you'll ever see!

Go read the IGN and Eurogamer reviews and they both note that Konami asked them not to detail installation and cut scenes.
IGN states:
"In return for letting us play Metal Gear Solid 4 before its release, Konami issued us with a list of things that we're not allowed to discuss. This list of prohibited topics is pretty long...One of those things that Konami doesn't want us to talk about is the 'total length of cut-scenes'."
@ solid12
Well Eurogamer is the only who's let slip about the epilogue which they call "an entire film in its own right". So I'd say it's pretty reasonable to assume the ending goes for approximately 90 minutes.
Based on IGN and Eurogamer's statements. Half of the game's content is cut scenes. So I guess we're talking a lot of hours watchin the telly! :)
Personally I think the animosity towards Eurogamer is ridiculous and juvenile.
It's a review. They're subjective and opinionated by definition. Personally I can understand some people not wanting to sit through endless cutscenes or a 90minute epilogue. If that's a problem for them that's fine by me and I don't need to resort to name calling.
Some people like football (soccer), some people like NFL.
Eurogamer aren't freaking idiots, they just have a diffe...
In regards to cutscenes.
IGN stated:
"One of those things that Konami doesn't want us to talk about is the 'total length of cut-scenes'. Hopefully it won't be bending the rules to far to reveal that they represent about half of the content of the game."
And Eurogamer:
"An unbelievably lengthy and self-indulgent epilogue - you can't call it a cut-scene, it's an entire film in its own right, and a deeply boring one too - is how ...
@ukilnme
All cool mate.
It's just this went on with Shane Kim for two weeks. The bloke gave a dozen interviews but we must of had 100+ articles on N4G collecting heat when they were all just extracts to rack up various sites hits.
If it continues we'll just all end up telling him to shut up as well, and yet he has nothing to do with it!
And kudos on the multiplatform stance. It would be a much better gaming world if everyone had all three n...
Already alt source to original source. Does anybody read stories anymore?

That's well caught out. I actually thought Destructoid's was one of the better reviews (I submitted it!) although I think the game was still a 9/10.
Looks better every time I see it. The multiplayer looks all class, with you being able to shift your XP to other classes even if you haven't played through them in single player. Drop in drop out. Loot options look great to so you can play co-op or competitive (free for all). :)
And that Goblin Man has me very intrigued. I hope they run it on TV as a full doco before release.
@clintos59
First off reviews are subjective, just like your or my opinion.
Secondly, Halo3 was released in September 2007 and was a benchmark in online gaming and user created content on consoles, for its time.
Thirdly, in the last nine months since Halo3's release the standard of games has been irrevocably raised. Bioshock, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, Uncharted, Mario Galaxy, Rock Band and GTAIV have all raised the standards of what we ...
"Then there are those - this reviewer included - for whom Metal Gear Solid is a love it and hate it proposition. Flawed, intractable, unspeakably tedious at times, and yet blessed with incredible production values, imaginative design, and a brilliant, brave willingness to think and do the unexpected and impossible. At times they're barely videogames at all, but they're capable of moments of pure videogame genius, joy and shock that few other series can match."

I completely agree with you Immortal.
A review by its very definition is never objective, it is always subjective, just as everyone's own opinions in this thread.
At the end of the day, the only opinion that counts is your own.
"He DISLIKES it, yet hes unable to objectively REVIEW the game based on its qualities, not whether hes a fan."
And somebody who LIKES it would give an objective review? Honestly!
No review is objective, all reviews are subjective. That's the very reason they exist! If reviews were objective we'd only ever need one, and if that were the case then we'd all be clones! Boring, banal, uninteresting clones.
Fact is, there is an infinite diversity of ...
@LenHart
Mate you're going a tad overboard aren't you? A review is an individual's subjective opinion, it is never a statement of fact. MGS4 is not a 10 and it's not an 8, it is whatever you as an individual value it to be.
If one person feels a ninety minute cut scene ending is over indulgent and pretentious then they have every right to give it an 8/10. Exactly as much right as the next guy who thinks the ninety minute ending is the best piece of a masterful auteu...
Unbelievable. I will never be proud of my own OPs ever again! lol
@foodbox
Well argued. Bubbles! :)
Always making sense amongst the "mucky-muck" tintin! :)
Quick question about the data speeds. Is that why developers often duplicate data on the bluray discs so it's more quickly found?
Sorry jukken but that was a fanboy rant if ever I've seen one!
How about neither and having a 360 and a PS3! :)
MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2 + Gears2, Fable2 and GTAIV DLC.
Best of both worlds. :)
EDIT:
@below
Sorry mate. Maybe one day then :)
