The only thing Nintendo has "proven" is that they are completely unable to compete with other companies when it comes to gaming hardware and software, which is why they stopped exhibiting and presenting at E3. Plus they are a very stingy company in many ways, so they'd rather hoard their money than spend it promoting their products.

What a load of nonsensical fanboy trash. Of course it's appropriate to compare the Switch to the PS4 and XB1, they are all consoles that attach to your TV and play games. Just because Nintendo decided to make the Switch a hybrid console, doesn't mean that it is exempt from comparison to the others.

Nintendo fans like the author of this article, seem to live in their own little world, where Nintendo products exist in a vacuum and shouldn't be compared to the othe...

Developers aren't going to spend a lot of time and money watering down their games (which are being designed for much more powerful consoles) to make them compatible with the Switch. I'm a big fan of handhelds, but let's be honest, this one will be completely unable to compete with the PS4 and XB1, both of which are twice as powerful (or more) than the Switch. And when you factor in the PS4 Pro and Scorpio, the power difference becomes even more pronounced.

"Stop comparing the launch of a new machine to the price of the console/games of 4 YEARS OLD machines. Launch is an expensive time give it some time and all the prices go down."

Except, the Switch IS trying to compete with those "4 YEARS OLD" nachines, whether you like it or not, and it isn't even half as powerful as those consoles. New machine or not, if it can't compete with much older consoles, in terms of price, power, and games, it simply is...

"Why cant they build a traditional powerful home console that can receive equal third party support and then release their own critically acclaimed first party games on it as well? Wouldnt that be best of both worlds?"

Unfortunately, Nintendo has proven time and again over the last decade or so that they lack the expertise to design competitive gaming hardware, and are also unwilling to dedicate the necessary financial resources to deliver a genuinely solid gaming...

Aqua Kitty is a great Defender clone, with fantastic pixel graphics, great music, and solid arcade style gameplay. I've been playing it on my PS4 and Vita, will probably pick it up for the XB1 soon as well.

Nintendo has always been greedy when it comes to pricing their products (and when it comes to the features and specs they deliver). This was true for the Wii, 3DS, Wii U, and now the Switch. $300 for the handheld, $80 for an set of joycons, $70 for a "Pro" controller, $30 for a charging dock: highway robbery.

They are a very greedy company and deserve no support from gamers whatsoever. Vote with your wallets, don't buy into this company's scummy ripoff p...

Me too, but unfortunately you have to deal with the devil (Gamestop) sometimes, when they are the only option. One example of that is Killing Floor 2 for PS4, a GS exclusive release and a fantastic game. It's currently on sale for $24.99, MSRP is $39.99:

I do occasionally buy other games from Gamestop, sometimes there just...

That picture really shows the poor quality of the Wii U gamepad screen. Nintendo really cut corners on the design and quality of the entire Wii U console/gamepad, it's not surprising that it failed miserably. They just don't seem to understand that gamers want a decent quality product for the money they pay, preferring to put out a barebones, low-spec, feature-lacking product to maximize their profits.

Let's hope that the Switch is a little better designed, alt...

Reggie is a complete corporate shill, he's about the worst person to listen to when it comes to Nintendo's products. He said the same kind of stuff about the Wii U, and look how that turned out.

Unfortunately the advertising is already terrible, judging by the awful Switch Super bowl advertisement. The "extended" version of the ad spent way too much time promoting the gimmicky motion controls, with 1-2 Switch and Arms, both useless gimmicky games that no one wants. Nintendo just doesn't understand the gaming market anymore, and it shows in the advertisement and the design of the Switch itself.

They're doing this because they clearly have almost no games to release for the Switch, either at launch or during the rest of the year. Very few 3rd party developers are supporting the Switch either at this point, and almost no AAA games are coming. This looks like the Wii U all over again.

Good riddance to another mediocre, low-spec, feature-lacking console from Nintendo. They should have put more effort into the design, it fell way short.

"The legendary Switch will be a smashing success for Nintendo and the best Nintendo platform since the SNES."

You really need to stop drinking that Nintendo kool-aid, it's destroyed your ability to make rational judgements. The Switch isn't even out yet, hard to characterize it as "legendary", much less successful.

This guy is a liar. Has anyone noticed that 3DS consoles are almost nonexistent in retail channels right now? Sold out and no longer carried by Best Buy, Walmart, Toys R Us, and most others. The entire 3DS sections of these stores will be replaced by the Switch and its games/accessories.

If Nintendo was planning on continuing support for the 3DS, why would they stop shipping actual 3DS consoles to retailers? The writing is on the wall, the 3DS is on the way out.

The launch lineup for the Switch really is very weak. Basically only one solid game at launch, with a few other mediocre games beside it. You'd think after all the time Nintendo has had to work on games after abandoning the Wii U, they could have delivered more than 1 game. And 3rd party support seems to be almost nonexistent again, just like the Wii U.

They're going to have to get moving on getting games out for the Switch ASAP, or its going to bomb out in a fairl...

"Great games"? Besides Zelda which should be good, what else is there? Both Arms and 1-2 Switch look like gimmicky motion control games. Where are all the games Nintendo has been working on? What happened to 3rd party games? It really looks like developers aren't actively supporting the Switch, not a good sign for its future.

"Oh and BTW, Nintendo doesn't compete with Sony and MS. That's a fanboy delusion spread by places like LOLOLOL neogaf. Nintendo exists in their own market. "

This is some of the funniest fanboy drivel I've seen. Only in an alternate Fantasy Island world is Nintendo not competing with Sony and MS. They make gaming hardware and games, so they absolutely do *try* to compete, but they've been doing a very poor job of that, for quite some time now.

Nope, the Switch is likely to be their last piece of gaming hardware. Once it bombs out, Nintendo will finally go software only, and we won't be subjected to their gimmicks and substandard hardware anymore. That's certainly something to look forward to, don't you think?
