@ porkChop - You do realize that N4G just gathers articles from other gaming websites out there? Most of the early opinions about the Switch are not really very positive. Only the most diehard Nintendo websites are praising them for the many questionable design decisions in the Switch (small amount of RAM, small amount of on board storage, tiny controllers, expensive peripherals, low-res screen, poor battery life, etc).
They're not going to continue making hardware if the Switch bombs, and it doesn't look good for the new handheld right now.
Let's hope that Nintendo exits the gaming hardware business, their products have been low-spec, feature-lacking, and crippled by gimmicks for many years. The Switch is likely to be their last piece of gaming hardware, judging by the response it has gotten in the gaming industry and community.
No, they aren't. There won't be any more portable consoles from Nintendo, the Switch is it. And they aren't going to make any more home consoles, because they are unable to compete with Sony and MS. They don't have the technical expertise to produce a cutting edge console (or handheld), and they are unwilling to open their wallet to finance that kind of hardware. You're living in a fantasy world if you desperately cling to some vague hope for future gaming hardware from t...
That's because Nintendo seems to be having a hard time these days, understanding what gamers (not just the small core of their diehard fans) really want. And judging by the Switch reveal and reception, they still don't seem to get it.
It really seems like 3rd party developers are not on board with the Switch. The launch lineup is very thin, with almost no 3rd party games, and the list of games coming in the future looks very small as well. Unfortunately, Nintendo again failed to deliver a truly competitive gaming console (like the Wii U before it), they seem to have learned nothing from their past failures.
Unfortunately, the Wii U Virtual Console was trash. Emulation was very poor, with dull, muted colors, poor quality sound, and no options for screen aspect ratios . Here is a comparison of the Wii U Virtual Console to the NES Classic (mini) console (which features excellent emulation):

Nintendo really should just ditch the VC if it's going to continue to have such poor...
You're absolutely right. I have a two+ year old Droid Turbo with a 5.2" screen and a 3900mah battery. Since the Switch has a larger screen and is coming out over two years later, Nintendo really should have put a larger battery in it. They cheaped out on the Wii U gamepad battery, and they are cheaping out on the Switch as well.
It should have had USB 3.0 right out of the box, no excuse.
You hit on a prime example of why Nintendo has become a joke in the video game industry and community; they're literally too cheap to include an ethernet port in their hardware. Who would take a company like this seriously?
So it will be a "huge success" because it's much weaker than the competition, will have far fewer 3rd party games (the hardware is unable to even come close to handling those games), and is grossly overpriced (including the insane accessory prices)? Or just "because Nintendo"?
Pokemon Go, NES Classic, and 3DS aren't good arguments for the success of the Switch. How about that Wii U, it really took off didn't it, lol. Fanboy logic at its wor...
5 Reasons Nintendo Switch Launch will Fail:
1) Weak system specs
2) Poor battery life
3) Poor selection of games
4) Grossly overpriced accessories and system
5) Poor prospects for games in the future
Apparently you chose to ignore the word "maximum" in that description. Just because it says that, doesn't mean that games for the Switch will always be 1080x60. Do you always have to cling to every possible scrap of possible news just to justify your blind support for Nintendo?
I'm getting a strong Terraria vibe from this game (I know 505 released Terraria), looking forward to getting this on PS4 and XB1!
If anyone is stagnant, it's Nintendo. They refuse to open their wallets when designing their gaming hardware, instead preferring to deliver the cheapest possible hardware, with substandard specs and missing features, then throwing in a gimmick to try to differentiate themselves. Unfortunately for Nintendo, this approach hasn't worked well for many years, and it looks like the Switch will follow the same pattern.
Great article about a fantastic PS1 game!
The last thing the Switch needs is more garbage shovelware like these gimmicky Wii Fit games. How about they work on some real games?
While I agree that things like extra joycons or grips aren't necessary, most people certainly will need a memory card, a game (yes it's fair to include that since the other consoles have one or more), and a Pro controller. That adds up to $440-$510, way too much money for too little stuff. And the Switch will obviously be completely unable to compete with the XB1 and PS4, specs are way short. It just wasn't well thought out at all.
So you don't need to buy a game? What are you going to do, play with the operating system?
And if you want to play games on the TV while docked, that tiny joycon controller isn't going to cut it at all. They should have bundled a Pro controller with every Switch, but Nintendo is greedy and just wants to extract the maximum possible amount from their loyal fans. Total joke.
Nintendo hasn't had any ideas worth "stealing" for over a decade. And Sony has done a much better job of designing hardware than Nintendo for an equally long time. Who cares?
