Unfortunately for Nintendo (and its dedicated fans), the entire Switch rollout has been a disaster. They clearly bungled the design of the Switch, then failed to properly product test the system to iron out bugs. And they (once again) cut corners everywhere possible, in order to maximize profits and minimize costs (cheap plastic screen, poorly designed joycons that lose connections, badly placed charging port, poorly placed kickstand, cheap plastic dock that scratches the screen, etc.) <...
The faulty dock design is just one of many design flaws found in the Switch:
- Cheap plastic screens that are easily scratched by the very dock that Nintendo bundles with the Switch (and will take heavy abuse from normal daily use)
- Stuck/dead pixels and flickering screens
- Very poor wifi performance
- Frame rate issues for BotW when docked, yet the game only runs at 900p (a bad sign when the flagship game for the system can't perform well o...
No, it's defective. Nintendo just listed it as "out of stock" to avoid having it look like a problem. You think they would pass up the opportunity to rake in huge profits for a $90 piece of plastic? Come on.
Nintendo is deliberately manipulating quantities of the Switch, just like they have with many other products in the past. It's a common practice they employ to create a false sense of rarity in their products, not a measure of the quality or success of the product itself.
Regardless of that, most new gaming consoles will sell well when first released, the proof will be in how well the sales are sustained throughout its first year on the market.
@ Gemmol - These are all excuses for a rushed, poorly-designed, poorly tested product. There are many design issues, defects, missing features, and subpar specs associated with the Switch, Nintendo clearly launched the system before fleshing out the design and thoroughly testing it.
Instead of constantly making excuses for Nintendo's poor products, you should be demanding much better from them in the future. It's fans like you who encourage them down the road to fa...
Agreed. It's the Nintendo Defense Force at work, desperately trying to stifle any negative comments about their beloved company and its poor products.
No, one game hasn't "saved" the Switch; in fact, there are many design issues and defects that are seriously endangering the system's future. Nintendo clearly rushed it out without proper testing and quality control, otherwise these issues wouldn't be appearing in the first few days after launch.
How hard would it be to put UK in the title or description for this article? Seriously, don't be lazy when posting, add a few extra letters to clarify.
Its sold out only because Nintendo deliberately throttled the supply to make it look like a hot item. The system is going to bomb hard due to the many design flaws, missing features, and weak specs.

Wii U mad bro? I think so.
Why would anyone approve an article about something coming "back in stock" on Ebay? This is garbage.
Sure it's "phenomenal", except for the many issues it has already encountered, and it just launched two days ago!

Except it's still riddled with design flaws, missing features, and mediocre specs/features. Not a great follow-up to their previous console, which had the same issues. Nintendo really needs to exit the gaming hardware business for good, they just can't make good hardware at all. They cut too many corners and leave out important features, just to pad their profits. The plastic screen is one of the most obvious examples, it should have been Gorilla Glass or something similar in terms of...
Hard to believe that Nintendo is actually charging money for this kind of gimmicky garbage. This game should have been a pack-in with the Switch, and even then it's trash. Greed, pure and simple.
The link for this article doesn't work properly.
@ ninsigma - A "stuck" pixel isn't the same as a dead pixel; it is a pixel that is permanently on (no matter what is going on with a game), displaying only one color (red, green, blue). It's a defect in the screen design.
Yeah, the prices of the Switch and its accessories are ridiculous. Nintendo is clearly trying to milk every single penny out of their loyal fans, but unfortunately they're not delivering solid products for the money. Plastic screens, cheap plastic materials (that peel and crack when skins are applied), poor wifi hardware, misplaced charging port (can't charge while the kickstand is in use), dead/stuck pixels, flickering screens, the list goes on. Unbelievable that Nintendo released ...
Sounds like he made a good decision and dodged a bullet. There have been many reported issue with the Switch, including: dead/stuck pixels, screen flickering, terrible wifi connectivity, easily scratched plastic screens, joycon desynching, charging port location (can't use the kickstand when charging), blue/orange screen of death, etc.
Not a good start for the Switch, Nintendo clearly rushed it out without proper testing and quality control.
The problem isn't that Nintendo is trying to "do something different", the problem is that their gaming hardware is poorly-designed junk. There are many problems with the design, manufacture, and specs of the Switch, Nintendo clearly rushed it out without proper testing and quality control.
