This is actually not a bad sale. I picked up Duke Nukem 20th Anniversary World Tour and Rogue Stormers for $10 each, and I'm considering a few others.

Game development may be easier, but the serious lack of power means that (once again), 3rd party developers are avoiding the console. Without solid 3rd party support, the Switch will fail, just like the Wii U before it.

"The fact that it can play PS4/XBO games on the go at all is extremely impressive."

Except, it really can't "play PS4/XBO games on the go", at best it can play heavily watered down versions of the more simple, graphically undemanding PS4 and XB1 games. Don't kid yourself, the Switch isn't able to run current generation games which are more demanding in terms of graphics, physics, and other such requirements.

Yep, it's a typical pro-Nintendo Forbes fanboy article, they must be well paid to shill Nintendo products.

Actually there are a lot more reasons NOT to buy a Switch right now. Besides the lack of games, the hardware has many issues due to poor design, manufacturing defects, substandard specs, and cheap materials:

-Cheap plastic screens that are easily scratched by the very dock that Nintendo bundles with the Switch (and will take heavy abuse from normal daily use)
- Stuck/dead pixels and flickering screens
- Very poor wifi performance
- Frame rate issu...

We all know why BotW uses dynamic resolution scaling; this brand new gaming hardware wasn't designed well enough to handle anything remotely complex in terms of games. Nintendo's first goal when creating new gaming hardware is to keep their manufacturing costs way down, to maximize their profits. This was true for the Wii, 3DS, Wii U, and now the Switch. They remove features and minimize specs towards this goal, and it shows in the system's ability to handle more complex games. ...

"One of the best Nintendo consoles ever", except it really isn't at all:

-Cheap plastic screens that are easily scratched by the very dock that Nintendo bundles with the Switch (and will take heavy abuse from normal daily use)
- Stuck/dead pixels and flickering screens
- Very poor wifi performance
- Frame rate issues for BotW when docked, yet the game only runs at 900p (a bad sign when the flagship game for the system can't perfo...

No, it isn't "doing fine". The Switch has had one of the worst gaming hardware launches ever. It has had problems with hardware design, mediocre specs, cheap materials, and multiple defects. The game library at launch is almost nonexistent, with one good game and a handful of shovelware. If Nintendo doesn't pull out all the stops and take drastic steps to correct these issues, the system will fade away and sputter out before it even gets going.

And that is the reason that the Switch will fail, just like the Wii U before it. Diehard Nintendo fans like you only want first party games on Nintendo hardware, they simply don't buy many 3rd party games, so 3rd party developers stop supporting Nintendo hardware. These fans then wonder why their favorite console fails. Hello?

3272d ago 10 agree0 disagreeView comment

Nope, definitely not worth it. The price is way too high, system is riddled with design flaws, specs are mediocre, materials are very cheap, and there are almost no games out now or coming in the near future. For anyone interested, wait until Nintendo introduces a redesigned Switch fixing all the design flaws at least, although a new design still won't feature improved specs.

The Switch launch has been a disaster. Nintendo failed to test the system to iron out bugs, and they completely bungled the design. Who was in charge of the hardware design and testing?

- Cheap plastic screens that are easily scratched by the very dock that Nintendo bundles with the Switch (and will take heavy abuse from normal daily use)
- Stuck/dead pixels and flickering screens
- Very poor wifi performance

If Nintendo doesn't take drastic steps to fix the many problems with the Switch hardware and software, sales of the Switch are going to fall off a cliff. I'm not sure exactly how they can fix all these issues without doing a massive recall:

-Cheap plastic screens that are easily scratched by the very dock that Nintendo bundles with the Switch (and will take heavy abuse from normal daily use)
- Stuck/dead pixels and flickering screens

"Congratulations to Nintendo. Nicely done. "

It's a little early for "congratulations", in fact quite the opposite. This has been one of the worst gaming hardware launches ever, with a ton of design flaws, defects, problems with cheap components, and quality control issues.

Nintendo has a very rough road ahead, not sure how they can turn things around.

They should have been "looking into it" before they even launched the Switch. They really failed to properly product test the handheld, leaving their loyal customers as guinea pigs to find all these problems out after laying down a lot of money on a faulty product. A terrible way to run a business.

Some of the problems:

- Cheap plastic screens that are easily scratched by the very dock that Nintendo bundles with the Switch (and will take heavy ...

Based on the poor initial launch of the Switch, it doesn't matter what Nintendo's plan is for the system. They bungled so many aspects of the handheld, unless they take drastic steps, it's doomed.

Unfortunately, it won't. The Switch design was massively bungled, with many poor design choices, quality control issues, and cheap materials. Nintendo completely failed to adequately test the system, clearly rushing it out to make up for the failure of the Wii U. And the selection of games available at launch was terrible, with only one good game and a handful of shovelware.

As the months after release drag on with few notable new games coming out, the sales of Switch ...

It's pretty obvious by now that sales of the Switch are going to fall off a cliff, once people realize that almost no games are coming out for it (other than a few indies that can easily be found on other consoles). It is doubtful that the Switch will ever surpass the Wii U in sales, based on the many serious design flaws and substandard specs in the launch hardware (Zelda even stutters at 900p docked, a bad sign for the future of the console).

Unless Nintendo takes ver...

Yep, the Wii U bombed hard, and based off of the many serious design flaws with the Switch, it is likely to meet the same fate, unless Nintendo takes drastic action to address the problems. The Switch was clearly rushed out without enough attention to the design and specifications, and wasn't properly tested at all, overall a very poor launch with a meager selection of games, and many serious problems.

Based on the many hardware problems associated with the Switch, you probably won't be gaming on it for "years to come". Hope you have a good extended warranty for it, you're going to need it.

Why try to change the subject? Feeling nervous about the bungled Switch design and launch?
