What a pointless article. Nintendo isn't working on a successor to the 3DS, the Switch is it. Why do some people still think they are still planning a new 3DS? The 3D gimmick failed, and the second screen was useless, and the system itself was cheap junk. Even the Switch is poorly designed, and will be Nintendo's last piece of gaming hardware released (thankfully).
"Manufacturing variation" is just a fake excuse for the fact that they screwed up on the design of the Switch. They obviously failed to properly test the Switch before releasing it, and many problems are now cropping up, like the malfunctioning joycons, poor wifi, dock that scratches the screen, stuttering in BotW, etc. Hard to believe that this company has any clue what they are doing when they release products with these kinds of problems.
Typical Nintendo, always trying to cut corners on their gaming hardware, to rake in the maximum profits. Unfortunately that means their hardware is unable to compete, as happened with the Wii U (and now the Switch, in terms of home consoles). It's a shame that Nintendo has this cheapo philosophy, unwilling to put the necessary resources into their hardware to keep it competitive, but they've been this way for over a decade.
Nintendo really needs to get out of the gaming hardware business, they really have no clue what they're doing when it comes to hardware design, features, and materials. The Switch is riddled with design flaws, defects, and cheap materials; they clearly bungled the design and launch of the system.
@ Phil32 - And yet my point still stands, which is that the accessories for the Switch are a huge ripoff. And I'm not a "console warrior/fanboy towards a soulless corporation and hating the competition", I own many, many consoles including: NES, SNES, GBA, N64, Atari 7800, Dreamcast, Saturn, Genesis, PS1, PS2, PS3, Neo Geo, XBox, XBox 360, PS4, XB1, etc. I simply recognize that most of Nintendo's modern day consoles have been poorly designed and lacking in even the most basi...
Yes it is, but this website does it all the time. They are hoping that people click the links and make a purchase, so they'll get an affiliate cut from the purchase.
Nintendo is trying to extract the maximum possible amount from their loyal fans before the system flops, unfortunately that will happen much sooner than they planned. All those accessories are a huge ripoff.
Sad. It just launched and already no one wants it beyond the diehard Nintendo fans.
Yeah, the most they should have charged for it was $19.99, anything above that is just a ripoff.
It's already pretty apparent that they won't, just like the Wii U before it.
Shame they didn't make a non-VR version of Battlezone, I would have picked it up.
Regardless of the clickbait nature of this article, the reality is that BotW is releasing on poorly-designed, feature-lacking, cheaply made hardware. No matter how great Nintendo's games are, if their hardware falls short (just as it did with the Wii U), it won't make a difference for the long term fate of the hardware. Switch looks like a Wii U 2, and is bound to follow that system's fate. Nintendo just isn't able to design and manufacture good gaming hardware anymore, they...
Based on the very poor 3rd party support, it doesn't look good for the Switch. And based on the many serious design flaws, defects, and cheap materials, it's doubtful that the Switch will succeed.
^ "Welcome to Fantasy Island!"
Only in the minds of the most diehard Nintendo fans will the Switch succeed. For the rest of the gaming community and industry, it'll be forgotten in short order.
Nintendo really bungled the design of the Switch. So many design flaws, defects, and cheap materials; it's hard to believe that this console went through any product testing at all.
"Nintendo's latest console combines two types of gamers, the die hard console gamer who needs a screen with 1080p and the die hard handheld gamers who play on the go."
Except the Switch struggles to run BotW at 900p (or less due to dynamic resolution), and can't even maintain 30fps consistently even at that. If Nintendo wanted this console to have a long life with many 3rd party games to support it, they should have done a better job on the design, specs, ...
If the Switch couldn't handle BotW, Nintendo shouldn't have ported it over. They consistently make gaming hardware that is poorly designed, weak in terms of specs, and lacking in even the most basic features found in competing systems. Then they wonder why people don't buy into their products, when those very products are unable to run games well. It's pretty easy to see why this company is not on a solid path in the gaming industry and community, they just don't understan...
Too bad the Switch wasn't even powerful enough to run Nintendo's flagship game, BotW. It can't even maintain a solid 30fps, a very bad sign for the future of the Switch. Without enough power to run games that aren't even graphically demanding like BotW, 3rd party support just isn't going to happen. And without solid 3rd party support, the system will fail, just like the Wii U before it.
"Super Mario Run Launches on Android a Day Early" ... And no one cared. Just another cash grab from a company well known for them.
