It really is a cheap, low-spec, feature-lacking piece of gaming hardware. You can always count on Nintendo to cut corners wherever possible when they design their gaming consoles and handhelds.
There aren't going to be very many 3rd party developers supporting the Switch, just like there weren't for the Wii U. People who bought the Switch better be happy with first party Nintendo games (and a few indies), because that's all they'll be getting.
It's understandable that PC owners would be upset about console exclusives, but there's a simple solution to your dilemma; buy the consoles (yes both of them, PS4 and XB1). Console gaming is fantastic, you should try it sometime.
This article is nothing more than fanboy fantasies about Nintendo's underpowered products. The Switch is going to follow the same path as the Wii U, solid early sales to diehard Nintendo fans, then stagnation as the rest of the gaming industry and community continues to prefer the other (much more powerful and feature-rich) consoles. The game library for the Switch is very thin right now, with very little 3rd party support coming in the future. Another console from Nintendo made for Ninte...
The only ones in denial are the usual diehard Nintendo fans, who would literally buy a turd-in-a-box shaped like Mario, if Nintendo sold one. At this point, the Switch is only getting first party Nintendo games, and indies; not even close to what it needs to succeed. I predict that the Switch will follow a similar pattern to the Wii U, good early sales, then stagnation as the most wanted 3rd party games pass it by.
Indie games - Already coming out on the real home consoles (better versions too)
Neo Geo games - I love these old arcade classics, but they are also coming out on the other consoles
Big releases - Almost no big 3rd party games are coming out on the Switch. If you're not a diehard Nintendo fan (most gamers aren't), these aren't going to make a difference
And in terms of power, the Switch can't even render a graphically simplistic game li...
No, the "dam" isn't going to break, any more than it did for the Wii U. People aren't going to want watered down ports when they can get much better versions of the very same games on the PS4 and XB1. The Switch has way too many compromises in the design and construction of the handheld, can't even display simple games in 1080p/30-60 fps. Joycons are way too small and cheap, screen is only 720p, internal storage is a joke, many features are missing, and the accessories a...
Didn't work out so well for the Wii U, did it? That ship sailed a long time ago.
I agree that the Switch will stay at $300 for a long time, but not for the reasons in the article. The reality is that Nintendo is a very greedy company, always trying to maximize profits (at the expense of their loyal fans). They don't care about delivering a genuinely solid gaming console for the money, they just care about making as much money as possible. Unfortunately, once people realize that their will be almost no 3rd party support for the Switch, and games are just barely trickli...

It may be selling well now, but that's only to the usual diehard Nintendo fans. The sad truth is that, without a solid lineup of 3rd party games/developers, the Switch is going to fail just like the Wii U before it. And as of right now, those developers are not on board.
Sales will inevitably deteriorate as people realize that the Switch is just another Nintendo machine.
Sadly you are right. Emulation on the NES Classic Edition is far superior to the Wii U Virtual Console, as seen in this comparison video :

They really need to go all out on Wii U ports, since 3rd party developers are skipping the Switch just like they did with the Wii U. They should have just called the Switch "Wii U 2", because that's what it is becoming.
Just spend your money on some purps, PurpHerbison. Seems like a better investment.
They're not going to make a "3DS successor", the 3D gimmick failed and the second screen was worthless. The Switch is their next handheld, there's no reason to work on a successor to the 3DS. They can't even get 3rd party developers on board for the Switch, they have enough to worry about.
Smart of them to keep the 3DS/2DS line around, especially since the Switch will most likely bomb out in the near future due to a severe lack of 3rd party support (just like the Wii U before it). Nintendo hasn't learned anything from their recent failures, and it's going to continue to drag them down as the rest of the gaming community and industry evolves.
Save your money, it's not worth it.
At this point, with most 3rd party developers sitting it out, the Switch will be lucky to even beat the Wii U in total numbers sold. It has a good start, but once people realize that the game lineup is very thin, sales are going to tank, just like they did with the Wii U. They won't get anywhere near the Wii in terms of sales, sadly.
It's going to be hilarious when sales tank in a month or so, as the barren landscape of games takes its toll, just like it did for the Wii U before it. People will be begging Nintendo to release more games, while the company will continue to drip feed a few games a year. Then they'll wonder what happened and whine about 3rd party developers not supporting an underpowered, feature-lacking system.
Totally agree, and I used to be a huge Nintendo fan. I'm now in the process of liquidating my entire Nintendo collection, tons of NES, SNES, and N64 games and systems. Can't stand what this company has become, nothing more than a purveyor of cheap hardware with bad gimmicks cobbled in. Garbage.
