Considering this has been made by Lionhead, I would expect their next game (most likely a Fable I'd say)to use this technology to a certain extent. Probably won't look as good as this, but close.
This article would have been relevant when the Gamecube was dying and the DS wasn't announced, even then, with Nintendo's dominance of the handheld market thanks to the GBA, it would have been quite surprising to see Nintendo completely abandon hardware. Both the Wii and the DS have seen tremendous sales, and the 3DS already seems like a solid seller, there's no way Nintendo will go software only if people are willing to buy their hardware.
Lair was awful (at launch), the graphics were good, the sound was great, but the gameplay was awful, and what made it even worse, is when they said that Lair used the SIXAXIS because it couldn't be done without it, yet they released a patch allowing the game to be played without the SIXAXIS, proving that the mandatory SIXAXIS controls were only a way to push said SIXAXIS. I must admit I haven't played Lair since that update, so I can't judge the "final" game.

well, in my opinion, the campaign was short but fun, I wouldn't compare it with Half Life, but when compared to other shooters like KillZone 2/3, CoDs (MW to BO), Bad Companies, Resistance and Halos, I think it wasn't nearly as bad as some says. It's actually funny when you look at most of these game's launches, as many have also been accused of having a short campaign and so-so story, it seems like FPS fans are expecting a bit too much from games that have been conceived arou...
I believe Direct2Drive offers some games for rental, but I'm not sure I'd want to rent a game, download it (let's say between 3 to 12GB for PC games) and only have it for a couple of days. I know many people won't have an issue with that though, but since my ISP has a cap, I'd rather rent my games on disc for now.
I'm glad to see that, as I hope THQ continues to make core games; I'm sure they will get better at it over time.
While I agree that the 3DS's line up isn't exactly exciting so far, I remember thinking the same when the DS launched back in 2004. The only games I bought back then were Mario and Ridge Racers, and it took months before I got myself another game. The main reason I kept my DS was because of MP:H, which was supposed to launch soon after the DS, but came quite some time later in the end. I'd say that by a year from now, the 3DS should finally have gathered enough games to be worth a...
Even if sales were to be lower, didn't the lockout also allow EA to extend their exclusivity deal with the NFL by a year or so?
While I plan on playing D3 on PC, I can see it work kinda well on consoles, just like some (mediocre) games in the past like Untold Legends, Sacred 2 and the rather good Baldur's Gate 2 DA. In my opinion, the reason most of these were mediocre had little to do with controls.
I eblieve that while you won't see a huge game like CoD, BF or GTA (a 3D one) on a tablet selling as much as Angry Birds, I do believe that some not so casual games could easily work on a tablet and sell very well. Games like Advance Wars, Fire Emblem or turn based JRPGs could easily work on tablets and not be watered down versions of console games (obviously you won't see AW or FE, as they are owned by Nintendo, but similar games).
I don't think tablets will ever...
The story was pretty bad, but the campaign was solid, mostly in co-op. From a gameplay perspective, my only complaint regarding KZ3's campaign would be the Sharp Pursuit section on Elite.
One reason why the medias aren't talking a whole lot about MotorStorm on N4G would be because the game is still more than a month away from hitting NA. There's plenty of article regarding this game from EU websites. And like LOGICWINS already said, there's been plenty of articles regarding the lack of games from Nintendo on both the 3DS and the Wii as well a numerous articles regarding Microsoft's demise.
I'm definately buying this game, not sure it will be as good as THQ claims it will be, but just for the sake of having a third major publisher around, tired of only having Activision and EA duke it out when it comes to AAA multiplatform titles.
I don't think it will kill CoD. CoD is different from all those so called CoD-killers (Crysis 2, BF3, BF:BC2, KZ3 and Homefront to name a few). CoD's MP is all about fast paced combat in small maps, requiring little to no tactics; it's made to be fun and nothing else. The only game that truly was similar to CoD's MP was last year's MoH.
He does mention "hardware constraints" as a reason the PS3 version will be superior to the two other versions. I can't see how PC hardware would limit the game, and I surely can't see how the PS3 version would be superior to the PC version graphic wise, unless they pull a weird move and limit the PC version to 720p or something.
I don't see where's the major problem, if you buy the game new, you don't have to pay the online pass. It only allows publishers and developers to make some cash from used game sales. I can see why some people would be against it, as you can't give/lend the game to your friends after you're done with it, but they can still play the single player and even get a taste fot he MP. Also consider that it might force companies like Gamestop to lower the price of some of their use...
To all those saying ite okay if the game is out of print because the developer/publisher isn't losing sales, it's not as true as it used to be considering many old games are being re-released on Live, PSN, Steam, GOG, etc. So I can see how it could somewhat hurt a publisher, but I guess it's fine if the publisher/developer has gone under.
The problem is, it costs less to make 40 phone games that will be entertaining for no more than 3 minutes each than making a great DS, 3DS, PSP or NGP game that will last for 30 to 40 hours. To the uninformed customer, the choice is simple, 40 games or 1 game?
The app store is driving the price of games down, but it could also bring down the quality of games found on all portable devices.
I think the reason you don't hear a whole lot from gamers is because it's a new IP from a studio which has yet to prove itself, and coming from a publisher with a so so history.
I think it will be a great game, but it's hard to know for sure without a demo. Anyway, the graphics seem nice enough, the story, while not as groundbreaking as THQ would like us to believe, seems better than the average game (reminds me of Freedom Fighters), and while Frontlines had its issues, I ...
Please tell me why Apple should win an ethic related award when you consider all the negative news and rumors regarding Foxconn.
