The battlefield series and Operation Flashpoint (the original one) are both military first person shooters. Do you think they should be compared? If someone told you that he disliked the first Flashpoint, would you tell that person to not play a Battlefield game since both are military FPS?

The PS3 is a great console that can also be used as a blu-ray player and has a large library of quality single player games. It's no wonder it sold even during the outage.

However, I'm pretty sure some games had a harder time. Motorstorm apocalypse seems like a barren wasteland online, Socom 4 already had a lukewarm critical reception and being a MP-oriented game (with a SP component), the outage probably had an impact on sales.

I don't see where the problem is, some say it's dumbing down the game like in SC:C and that it'll ruin the game. Yet, MGS4 had plenty of tricks for Snake to use, like the automatic octo-camo, the first person mode, Metal gear MKII and the solid eye, yet it did not make the game a disaster. I think we should wait to know more about Absolution before we conclude it's a bad game. The failure of one studio should not mean that adding abilities is an automatic fail.

To me, every game could benefit from 60 fps, mainly action, racing and sports game, but I know we can't expect every game to run at 60 on current consoles. If I only had a console to game on, I wouldn't mind BF3 running at 30, but I wouldn't bother playing a CoD without a 60 fps framerate. I know a lot of people on N4G don't like CoD, but I still think it offers a great fast paced twitch shooter experience, and most of it is due to its relatively stable 60 FPS.

30 fps is fine for BF3 as it has a somewhat more tactical gameplay and a slower pace. However, for an arena-style game like CoD, 60 fps is a must. While I'd play Bf3 at 30, the same can't be said about CoD.

Two different gameplay styles, two different technical requirements.

We have yet to hit the wall, games are still filled with aliasing problems, plagued with performance issues, low resolution textures in some areas, consoles are offering a sub-hd experience from Time to time and only a handful of fullHD games. Animations are still unrealistic and akward in many games, texture pop ins are still found in many games and destruction is still quite limited, even in games like Red Faction and, from what we've seen so far, BF3.

Valve's games are fine. They have great gameplay, offer a great multiplayer component and storytelling. Their graphics, while not as good as some other games like Crysis or the Witcher 2, are not bad enough to make their games ugly or unplayable.

For as long as the source engine provides graphics decent enough so that they don't ruin the experience, I don't mind Valve using it.

I'm only using Steam to get my games on PC, with the exception of a few D2D games I bought when they had a sale last year and obviously, my Blizzard games being bought on the... Blizzard Store.

I know about BF3, and it does seem like a great game, but if EA decides to release it only on Origin or to put some quality exclusive DLC exclusive to Origin, I will be greatly disappointed. I refuse to support such an initiative, as doing so could encourage other major publishers ...

From what IO said, the game will allow you, like previous games (mostly Blood Money), to choose to play it like a stealth game or not. The only thing I noticed in the E3 demo was that shooting seemed better than in previous hitman games and that CQC seemed much more natural and less glitchy animation wise.

Also, the new graphics engine is a welcome addition, considering their old one was showing its age, which can easily be seen in Kane and Lynch 2 when removing the screen fi...

Thanks both of you for your answers.

I haven't played this game, but I would assume IGN's gripe with the game is that it's more of a "so difficult it's frustrating" as opposed to the "just difficult enough to be gratifying" experience found in Demon souls

Just wondering, why dind't/don't you have a chance to play it on PC?

I can understand why people are happy to have games like Crysis 2, The Witcher 2 and the likes on their home console, as they are usually very demanding games that would force one to have a good gaming computer, but Minecraft is a rather light game, most computers, with the exception of netbooks are highly likely to run it.

This is an honest and genuine question by the way.

I read somewhere that future EA titles would likely receive some exclusive bonus or DLC on Origin, although I could have read wrong. And, as written below, Alice is not on Steam, but can be found on Origin, which could mean that EA will keep some titles exclusive to their own DD store, which doesn't seem like a wise business decision to me.

When Homefront got released, THQ announced the possible closure of Kaos, saying most of the staff had been relocated, it is likely they will be working on Homefront 2, under a new name.

That's basically what MS did with AoE, giving development of AoE online to the studio created by former Ensemble Studio employees.

And, may I know how graphics and voice over make a game a clone or not?

Look, I'm not saying it's a WoW clone, but your points are related to the game's presentation and not to the gameplay itself.

Yes, I'm aware of that fact, which does nothing to change my opinion that most of Gearbox's games' shooting feels off ( to me anyway). I don't care about the 3DR staff anymore; as much as I loved DN3D and most DN games ( mostly zero hour, MP and DN64), if they can't make an half decent DN game in over 10 years, I'd rather see Duke in the hands of a more capable developer. And I'm not sure Gearbox is the rIght studio for the job.

When I saw pictures of the Balls of steel edition's Duke Nukem bust, I already knew my preorder wasn't worth it. Then the generic MP with low player count and the somewhat awful scores it's been getting in addition to the not so convincing demo pretty much convinced me to cancel my BoS edition this morning.

Hopefully they will make another Duke Nukem game, and while some will disagree, I hope isn't developed by Gearbox as I usually dislike the feel of their ga...

I guess they only need one obscure website or magazine to give them a GOTY award to create such an edition, plus, they don't actually need to be the overall GOTY, being the GOTY in the action RPG category is probably enough. Well, that's assuming they actually need such an award to create these...

I can't wait for this game and IO's other projects, as they usually make great games with subpar graphics. Hopefully this new engine means that their games will look as good as they play.

And both have their fanbase, feature a different approach and they both are fun in different ways. Also, while one is likely to get critical acclaim, the other one is likely to make much more cash.
