It seems that now that Danny Bilson has left THQ, everyone is taking pot shots at him; seemingly forgetting about the fact that while THQ was and still is struggling, he atleast tried to take THQ in a new direction. A few years ago, THQ was mostly about cheap movie tie-in games and the likes. He pushed for more hardcore games at THQ and less casual games. Homefront wasn't a great game, but it was more enjoyable than probably 80% of all shooters coming out this generation, and while the Ko...
Before this patch, the penalty for death was so minor that many people simply decided to go against bosses like the Butcher with a party and get killed/revived until either the boss is downed or equipment is completely broken.
If anything, this patch will help people stay away from the real money auction house as drops have been improved in Inferno (well, for Act I mostly), which should allow people to get better gear by themselves rather than overly relying on the AH.
Well, if they were to give us an offline mode, they would have to make sure these people have no access to the auction house, real money or not; as they could benefit from an unfair advantage as cheating and item duplucation would obviously be easier to achieve offline. I'm not sure, but I for one think one will need months and months to get all the gear needed to beat Inferno by looting only.
Because last time we had a TNA game, it really created competition right? Let's face it, TNA is not in the same league as the WWE, on TV and in video games. Even if a good TNA game were to be made, the sales would likely be lackluster due to the lack of brand exposure; and THQ would not feel any need to change the developer of WWE games or even ask them to make a better game.
As for EA grabbing it, I'd be pretty much against that idea; I know these games are old and f...
I can't wait for it, never finished it on PS2 and my launch PS3 died last week and got replaced by a slim model. Hopefully, with the Vita's more powerful hardware and the fact that Vita games are not restricted by the size of the medium, this game will have the complete P4 experience with some bonuses rather than a slightly scaled down version with bonuses like P3P.
I imagine if fans complain enough, Blizzard might someday release a patch that allows people to play offline, however I assume this would mean they would have no access at all at the auction house, even when connected.
While I still can't believe Duke 3D is missing (and no fact or argument, despite how valid they are, will change my nostalgia-filled mind), it's a pretty good list. Good job.
Where's Duke Nukem!
Rainbow Six Vegas? I liked the game, but it had nothing on the original Rainbow Six series.
Resistance Fall of Man? I don't know how this game can be put in such a list, maybe one of the better FPS of this generation, but definately not of all time.
No Halo at all? Not a big fan of the series, but I know Combat Evolved should be somewhere on such a list.
What about Duke Nukem 3D? Or Deus Ex for that matter. Shouldn't System Shock 2 be on such a list? And no Bat...
Not that I'm a huge CoD fan, but the Find Makarov:Operation Kingfish (and the original fan-made Find Makarov for that matter) are pretty well done in my opinion.
Yes and no; just like StarCraft 2 : WoL. To most people, Diablo 3 will be an awesome game and they will quickly forget about the new art direction and everything people have been complaining about on the forums. But, to some, the game won't meet their high expectations.
Some will probably say it's too much like Diablo 2, as in it is stuck almost a decade ago. Others will say it has gone too far from its roots and shouldn't be called Diablo.
And since Activision a...
I don't see how this "deal" is problematic, smartphones have been sold to consumers with similar plans and most people don't complain about that.
When it comes to MMOs (which excludes League of Legend, which is an awesome game, but not an MMO; if we count non-MMOs, Call of Duty has already beaten WoW years ago), I don't think a game will kill WoW, as it will simply die of old age if you will. Guild Wars 2, TERA, the secret world, Elder scrolls online and The Old Republic, to name a few, are all taking some players away from WoW, but so far, none have managed to deal a massive blow to WoW's massive players base.
While I agree with the choices made by the author, Ravi (from E3 2008 I believe) should have been somewhere on that list.
Edit : guess I'm about 5 minutes late, as someone already pointed that out.
No Red Alert 2? Yet Alone in the Dark and Legendary make the list?
People used to complain about the Wii, then they said the 3DS was confusing and should have another name, then people complained about the Vita and I assume people will most likely complain if the next Playstation is not called the Playstation 4 (and others will complain if it is indeed the PS4) and they will also complain about the next Xbox's name.
The Wii-U is a fine name, as long as it brings quality games, I don't care how it's called (well, as long as it'...
Seriously, if Worlds Inc, wins this, I presume they will go after every major game publishers who have a game with some online multiplayer component; which is why I hope Activision wins this one.
Is anyone still willing to hire SlantSix?
I hope not; while not all critically acclaimed, I liked all 3 saints rows, RF Armageddon and Guerilla, WWE 12 and yes, even Homefront. Darksiders was also a very nice game. THQ has published some very entertaining games this generation, a nice shift form the movie tie-in THQ we knew a few years ago, it saddens me to see that the latter was probably more successful though.
If done right this game could be pretty awesome. I just hope they don't go and put multiple types of zombies, it only needs the typical slow and dumb zombies that come to you in large numbers and looters of some kind I guess. I don't want it to be the next L4D or anything like that. If Activision can manage to put good shooting mecanics and have the weapons feel right while also giving us good zombies in a world where resources are scarce, I can forgive them for giving us a somewhat s...
