I'm sorry, but I'll have to wait and see the reviews (and I mean a lot of them) before I even think about buying Far Cry 3. I've only seen the E3 footage, and in my opinion, it looked pretty bad with plenty of screen tearing; it also didn't seem that much fun (to me). And most of all, I hated Far Cry 2, as I found the gameplay rather boring and the shooting somewhat subpar.
Will Far Cry 3 put CoD to shame? Maybe, but I have yet to be convinced so far.
Well deserved in my opinion. Like the author mentioned in his article, old blizzard games still have online servers and for the most part, have been patched for a very long time, to make sure the games would be compatible with newer OS and hardwares.
In comparison, EA has a long history of shutting down servers after only a few years, and they also have left many games completely unbalanced (CnC Generals comes to mind). Most publishers do that, even Sony, who have been shutti...
The IP can't "suffer" more than it already has. SEGA decided not to publish a Bayonetta 2. Nintendo decided to pick it up. Don't want to buy a Wii-U? Fine, don't, but don't come here saying we would've had a Bayonetta 3 had it not been for Nintendo. Without Nintendo, not only would there not be a Bayonetta 3, you wouldn't even have a 2.
Maybe they will censor nudity, but I think it's too soon to assume they will. Like I said, they did allow an uncensored version of BMX XXX on the gamecube while Sony asked Acclaim to censor it on the PS2. Of course, that was years ago, have standards changed at Nintendo? Maybe, but I for one have yet to see it.
If you look at the Wii, I don't think Nintendo went to developers and publishers and told them how to develop their games; the publishers simply assumed that k...
No more heroes, MadWorld and House of the Dead Overkill were violent games on the Wii and Nintendo did not try to censor them in any way.
You say Nintendo has been censoring games forever, yet, I can't remember them censoring a game. Even BMX XXX was released uncensored on the Gamecube while it was censored on the PS2.
I think botht he Vita and the wii-u are well priced. Both are (well, I have a Vita but for obvious reasons I don't have a Wii-U) well designed machines with good capabilities.
Now, why isn't the Vita selling as well as most hoped it would? Strong competition and a lack of games (more on that later).
Will the same thing happen with the Wii-U? Maybe, but so far the launch line-up is looking good, not awesome, but good enough. Of course, like it or not,...
We shall see. Black Ops 2 will be the test I guess. I know as a gamer this isn't how I should see things, but let's face it, gaming is just like any form of entertainment and it's all about the money. If Black Ops 2 sells more than MW3, I'd say CoD is still well and alive. Year on year, CoD sales have been going up (excluding spin-offs or portable versions). Did MW3 have issues? Yes, absolutely. But it still had at its core, the CoD exprience if you will. Fast arcade gameplay ...
Who knows. I doubt the PS3/X360 version of the game will look as good as what has been showed, but it could still end up being close to it (with lower resolution textures and with the game running in 720p). I think Konami and other publishers who have showed some great looking games expected to be released in the next year or so know that they will make more money by selling their games on the current gen consoles thanks to a much bigger player base. However, it wouldn't be surprising if ...
I don't know about this particular game, as I haven't played it, but in my opinion, there's no reason why iOS and Android games can't be priced like regular games. Of course, they also need to be comparable to games found on other systems. If a games has plenty of depth, good graphics, good controls (which quite frankly should be easily achieved in a turn-based RPG) and good gameplay, I don't see why it can't be priced accordingly. Would I pay 10$+ for Angry Birds? No....
I'm worried that THQ won't be around next gen. A new generation of consoles often means the demise of financially troubled publishers. PS2/GC/Xbox killed off Acclaim, PS3/Wii/X360 killed Midway, and I fear the next one will kill THQ, which is sad considering some of their games are really fun, even if they suffer from some bugs or subpar production values. Saints Row, Red Faction, Darksiders and even Homefront were really enjoyable to me, despite their shortcomings.
A...
While to us gamers he may come out as a buffoon, to the average non gamer looking to invest in the gaming industry, he provides useful information. He predicts a lot of things, and he's wrong on many of them, but most of what he predicts makes sense, he usually doesn't make outlandish statements that make no sense at all. I'd say he's doing a rather good job, considering an analyst in any other domain will also be bound to be wrong with many of their predictions. You can't...
I think they like it that way. They have 2 studios working on 2 franchises that compete with CoD every year. This means CoD is never completely undisputed (sales-wise), but by having 2 franchises, EA can pretend they're not milking as much as Call of Duty, despite both publishers using a similar development cycle.
I hope this year's MoH game will be worth it, as the last one mostly felt like a lesser Call of Duty and its multiplayer component, made by DICE, shouldn...
Bought it at launch, played it for a couple of weeks and plan on playing it some more at some point. But while Twisted Metal is a fun game, it is flawed and the game doesn't look like a AAA exclusive (while that might not be as important as gameplay, I believe it's normal to expect a 50-60$ game to look like one).
Hopefully we will see another TM game in the near future.
I presume most of THQ's studios are in a similar position, as I doubt THQ is still willing/able to keep financing studios who can't bring in money. I wish them the best of luck and their game seems pretty good from what I've seen.
While I like the PS2 Slim, I don't think it added anything to the PS2, nor did it solve any major issues (since there weren't any to solve). It only took the PS2 and made it smaller. If you take a look at the redesigns chosen by IGN, they all fixed issues the original systems had as well as making them smaller (which is quite important for handhelds).
I wish there were a backlit tournament edition, as my desk space is somewhat limited and I barely use the numpad on my current keyboard.
I presume this is for the PSP (because of the tags), and while I understand the PSP is still going strong in Japan (where this game is likely being aimed at), I wish this were for the Vita, as it could really benefit from the second analog stick.
Tell us Mika, which system really deserved these sales then?
So, basically, the solution is making MMOs; as they are online and are community driven? Correct me if I'm wrong, but piracy is an issue, but hasn't exactly been a problem for MMOs... And since this is coming from Bioware Mythic, maybe they should work hard making a compelling game people want to play rather than state the obvious about piracy.
I love how the author uses a low resolution side by side comparison of Dishonored to point out that there's only a small difference in graphics between the 2 versions without mentioning the video settings of the PC version as well.
He also points out that with PSN/XBL it's easier to move from one game to another with the same group of people. In my experience, this isn't true at all. On the PS3, once you leave a game, you lose all contact (by which I mean voice ch...
