I hate how underhyped games seemingly always get lower scores because of the lack of hype/anticipation or fanboy following. Riddick: Dark Athena is one of my most anticipated games of the year, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a lot better than this score indicates. Demo was crap, I will freely admit, but it's not indicative of the entire game.

It doesn't help that Hilary Goldstein is one of the most non-credible doofuses in the gaming press I've ever seen. He mentioned that ...

Firefox works like a goddamn charm for me. I love the bookmarking system and I love the couple plugins I've got installed that are totally unobtrusive. I see no reason to switch over to Chrome.

Oh god, I hope Rockstar doesn't turn the Max Payne franchise into GTA: Bullet Time Edition. Max looks almost like Nico in this pic.

The problem is when developers start focusing too much on finetuning a game for a mass unskilled audience, and don't pay the same amount of attention balancing a game's harder settings for the more hardcore gamers who want and enjoy an extreme amount of challenge. Over the years, I've noticed an inverse correlation between the growth of the popularity in videogames as an entertainment medium and the overall challenge of action games, even on the hardest difficulty settings. Or maybe it's just...

Um, don't most games already have an "Easy" difficulty mode?

People shouldn't be kneejerk-reacting to Jaffe's comments and turning on him on a dime, just because he has an opinion that could remotely be taken as negative towards a game from a Playstation franchise. After all, he brought us a couple of the greatest games to ever arrive for the Playstation brand, so he has some credibility. The man's definitely entitled to his own opinion.

Downloading the Riddick: Dark Athena demo right now. One of my personal most anticipated games of this year. Will be very intriguing to see how this version compares to the 360 one, as Starbreeze's last effort, The Darkness, was simply one of the most technically subpar titles we've yet seen on the PS3.

Accessibility to a wider audience? If you want that, then set all your games to "Easy" difficulty. See, problem solved. For me, I like my games to have a challenge--that is what get's my blood pumping, and that is what I personally enjoy as a gamer.

That whole write-up was such pseudo-technical, slandering garbage, trying to downplay the technical achievements of Killzone 2, that no one should even have to bother commenting on it. It doesn't deserve any serious attention from anyone who knows anything about real-time graphics whatsoever.

"Fake shadows painted on textures?" That is such complete baloney that it makes me embarrassed for the guy who wrote that. All the shadows are cast dynamically in Killzone 2, with ...

You see, no one can be 100% certain that only a "minority" of people are put off by the controls in Killzone 2. I think a lot of people in the general gaming public, who haven't been hardcore followers of KZ2, or have played a lot of other shooters, will find the controls very different from what they're used to... to say the least. I mean, that's a fair statement to make, right; that the controls in KZ2 are quite different from what we've experienced in other shooters that people m...

Relax, no one is comparing this to RROD. The point is, that some fanboys will deny an issue exists when it comes to their favored system or game, and ignore/insult someone who is actually on their side just because he's personally having issues and honestly and openly expresses those issues that he's having having rather than pretend they don't exist in any capacity, whatsoever.

You mean like when MGS4 got updated with Trophies when they first became available? Oh, wait...

Let's not be ungrateful for free updates and DLC for already-released games, now.

Extremely well-put, yamamoto114. In real life, a soldier will move his gun to his side instantaneously, if he suddenly spots an enemy to his right. There will be no half-second delay to the start of this movement. And there will be no "physics inertia" governing his arm's motion where it slowly "accelerates" from slow to fast as the soldier has to react as quickly as possible to being flanked by an armed hostile.

To all the defensive fans who say that those vo...

Actually, games CAN indeed dynamically drop resolution "instantaneously." SFIV on the PS3, Wipeout HD, and Riddick: Butcher Bay, are all some previous examples of games that dynamically change the rendering resolution on the fly in order to maintain performance (keep the framerate smooth).

However, Killzone 2 is NOT one of these titles, as far as everyone knows. Killzone 2's demo has been tested extensively, and the resolution is a full 1280x720 at all times, and 960x10...

You listen to me. I know for a FACT that this post is discussing SFIV on PS3. I myself posted in the thread, and was involved in this specific discussion. Look for the username "Statix."

How exactly are they going to discuss the "similarities to the SFIV situation," if the post in question is dated February 17th?! more than a week before KZ2 even releases?!

Not to mention the fact that KZ2 is a 30hz game, not a 60hz game, so the statement, "d...

You dummies, this is referring to Street Fighter IV on the PS3, which is old news that was already reported about a week ago. Read the whole thread in context.

"Dropping to 630p at 60hz" is in fact referring to SFIV which one would ascertain if he would read some of the posts immediately prior to this one in the thread. SFIV, of course as everyone knows, is a 60hz game.

The poster, joker454, was referring to why SFIV would drop to 630p to maintain a consist...

Wait, I didn't realize that EVERY game released nowadays has framerate drops. Thanks for the info.

If the lowest that the framerate can drop to in KZ2 is 20 fps, and only occasionally, then we should consider that a blessing.

It's more a matter of statistics. Within one's power of reasoning and deduction, to whom should one lend more credence: 5 major publications that give a game a ~95%, or one (1) major publications that gives it a ~70%?
