Stories like this are obvious indicators to me that Blu-Ray is clearly the next Betamax.

Translation: "Faith has got to go."

Say hello to the new face of the Mirror's Edge franchise: A buff, steroidal white male lead in a high-tech spacesuit, with dual-wielding capability. Who also happens to do parkour.

Yeah, definitely. Call of Duty 4 is probably the worst place to look for storytelling synergy. Typical narrative formula of COD4: Gameplay-->Loading screen cutscene-->Gameplay-->Lo ading screen custcene, repeat for 4 hours straight.

If Killzone 2 could look better on the 360, then how come we don't see a single XB360 game out right now that even comes close to it? Exactly.

If I'm not mistaken, I recall somewhere that Guerilla stated before about Killzone 2 only using 4 out of the 7 operational SPUs on the PS3. Which, if true, would mean that the "60% heaviest load" figure mentioned in this article was the worst-case scenario as measured on 1-to-4 SPUs at a time... with 2-3 more free SPUs completely left to spare.

Like art director Jan-Bart van Beek said in the recent Gametrailers video, this game has actually UP-graded rather than downgraded its visuals, every step of the way. This is contrary to the way just about every other game is developed.

I downloaded OpenOffice the other day, when I couldn't get my old Microsoft Word XP disc to work with Vista. The programs I tried work pretty well so far; similar to Office. And the best part is it's free.

Hasn't Sony been apt to do the same thing with their hardware? In terms of reconfiguring the storage memory amounts, omitting or altering backwards compatibility capabilities, changing the number of USB ports several times, and going back on their decision to not include wi-fi in the value model?

I love my PS3 as much as anybody, but I don't see how MS can be criticized for this particular move, especially considering Sony's same penchant for hardware SKU revisions.

No, we don't want anymore realtime battles. Did you see how Bethesda butchered the combat system of Fallout and turned it into Oblivion: FPS Mode? Enough with the mindless action-oriented, non-strategic gameplay. We already have a hundred different Halo and Gears clones for that.

Far Cry 2 is a PC lead-developed title, so obviously it would look and perform better on that particular platform. I don't think anyone would argue that the multiplatform FC2 is any indicator of the true capabilities and strengths of the PS3 in the same way that an exclusive, 1st-party title would be.

What can I say? Americans love a (lukewarm) deal. :)

I agree; them taking "legal action" against a poster on a messageboard doesn't prove that their game exists in playable form. I sure hope that this game is real, and comes to fruition.

To be completely fair and objective here, how do we know what he said was false information? Or did he even purport his statements to be more than just educated speculation in the first place?

It's a misconception that 1080i is an inferior signal type to 720p.

Actually, my 1080i CRT HDTV looks far better than just about every 720p LCD panel out there today. 1080i is a higher rendering resolution than 720p by the factor of 2*, meaning twice the number of pixels. The only downside is that 1080i is interlaced, meaning that the horizontal lines are displayed on-screen at an alternating fashion at the rate of 60hz, introducing a modicum of slight flicker in some viewing cir...

Believe me, I would absolutely love to see KZ2 natively run at a resolution of 1920x1080 as well. But just be aware that if KZ2 can run natively at 1080i, it can also logically and technically run natively at 1080p as well.

If everything that has been said is indeed true, then this would mean that this announcement is a confirmation that KZ2 runs at native 1080p!

1080i games and Blu-Rays run at the same native back-buffer resolution as 1080p--that resolution being 1920x1080. This means that the performance of 1080i and 1080p would be completely identical.

As I mentioned above, the only difference between 1080i and 1080p is that 1080i involves the additional step of a PS3 or Blu-Ray player's interlacer chip: A normally 1080p signal is processed by the interlacer chip for output as a 1080i signal. The rendering resolution and performance re...

Actually most PS3 games released today do NOT support upscaling to 1080i. Recent 1st-party games such as Pacific Rift and LBP have raised the ire of some disappointed PS3 owners who were hoping for 1080i support in those games, so that they could play them (in HD). Unfortunately, Sony dropped the ball with those two titles, and some are relegated to playing them in SD (or not play them at all).

That "natively" descriptor was a mistake or misunderstanding on the part of ...

This is great news for those with slightly older-generation 1080i HDTVs. Now everyone will be able to enjoy this game when it comes out in a couple months.

Who is this blatantly biased idiot trying to seem legitimate? Is he being serious? I'm so furious and disgusted that I cannot tell.

6276d ago 3 agree3 disagreeView comment

They ought to do this for Killzone 2, or on any other PS3 game for that matter. I'd like to see this functionality implemented more in more actual released games. Seeing KZ2 run at 2560x 1440 would be kinda cool.
