I agree with -Mezzo-. IF Sony leaves the console business (which I doubt will happen anytime soon), then I don't have many other alternatives.
Nintendo is mostly a casual games company with its foundation built on casual games and audiences; not to mention the hardware is usually a step or two behind other platforms each generation.
Microsoft basically focuses all their hardcore efforts on Gears and Halo. Not to mention they've been becoming more and ...
There is still some input lag, but it's been reduced significantly after the last patch. It's far from optimal, and still laggier than the 360 version, but it's perfectly playable.
Fyi, I use a CRT TV with ZERO input lag. Thus, it's not the fault of my TV.
@Abdou23:
YOU'RE the one who is delusional if you think EA isn't going to release a port on the massive 120+ million install base of the current-generation consoles. Do you think EA doesn't like money?
BF4 will come out for current-gen consoles, with higher-fidelity ports for next-gen consoles shortly thereafter (possibly simultaneous).
Do they even MAKE 16GB hard drives anymore? If there really is a 16GB SKU, then I highly expect it to be a built-in 16GB of flash-based memory (or SD/MicroSD card?). In which case, the access/seek times and read/write rates would be much faster than a regular hard drive, resulting in a nice performance boost for games.
91.8? This review is BULLCRAP; the game deserves at least a 91.9, if not 92.1!
Since when does 2-3 bullets = half a magazine?
I don't get it. Microsoft posts a LOSS for the quarter. Not to mention, on the game-related side, Xbox console sales are down. Why are fanboys acting like this is good news?
I'm not saying it's horrible news, or even bad news. But it's certainly not POSITIVE news.
I can see how that scenario would be SOOO beneficial for the gaming industry as a whole:
Microsoft buys out Call of Duty, and no other console can compete. Because of lack of competition, Microsoft jacks up prices on Xbox Live subscriptions even more, focuses on casual/Kinect games even more, and relies on rehashed sequels to Halo/COD/Gears every year, after year, after year. Rinse and repeat for the next 10-15 years (or until console gaming dies off in favor of another platf...
@nukeitall:
Microsoft doesn't NEED to cut the price anymore, since they hit the casual/mass-market price point of $150-200 a long time ago.
The consistently lower price, plus the fact that the 360 had a one-year head start, plus the whole RROD fiasco, are the ONLY reasons the PS3 is behind rather than ahead at this point in time.
Even in the FPS genre, STALKER, Battlefield, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry are a few of my favorite series ever. They're all made by non-US studios.
I would take DICE's Battlefield (Sweden-based developer) over COD any day, all day.
I believe there is some truth to this article. USA developers Naughty Dog, Irrational, and Bethesda are a few exceptions to the rule, the point still stands.
That was impressive.
Because there's so many great new games coming out as of late.
@SyWolf:
Cores or not, those Cell SPUs are very powerful, even by today's standards. Whether or not you want to call them cores is a semantic issue.
These specs are a year old, and will most likely change significantly when the console launches a year from now.
PSN has been very stable for me, so I guess that one-ups your mere "moderate" stability. /s
Maybe the fact that I have decent knowledge of how to set up my router, and get Open NAT on my PS3 has something to do with it. I RARELY get disconnected from PSN.
Holy crap, what an alarmist article this is. The writer is trying to make it seem like your entirely livelihood is in danger or at risk every time you "turn on your PS3." In my 5+ years of using the PS3, I've only been forced to change my PS3 password ONCE. I know some people's mileage may vary slightly, but I don't think that's too bad of a track record, regardless.
And then he complains about the "incredible amount" of firmware updates, a...
The columnist is obfuscating the matter by trying to paint this as a "sexism in gaming" issue. How is sexism even remotely related to this incident? Because the person being attacked is female?
Ryan Perez was simply expressing the opinion that Felicia is being used for nothing more than her sex appeal. He is entirely entitled to his opinion (and it might even be a valid one).
If these are the things that society complains about, then society is f***ing retarded.
I mean, it's a simple ~5 minute firmware download on a moderately fast internet connection, for god's sake. How do these same people sit through an MP3 download on iTunes or Amazon when they buy a new album online? How do PC gamers sit through 7GB+ game downloads and/or installs whenever they want to buy a new game?
Call me a "Sony apologist" if you want....
Yeah, they should save Radical Entertainment like how they saved Rare.
Hope he was institutionalized.
