I know many "COD haters" (me included) will disagree with your statement, but you are absolutely correct. Call of Duty has some of the most fluid and responsive gameplay/controls out there of any console FPS, and that is one of the major reasons why the general public finds it such an appealing game to play.
I myself far prefer Battlefield 3 overall as my shooter of choice, but when I play some BF3 right after a play a little bit of COD, it almost feels like I'm...
"All you need to do is when you build your PC, make sure to get a graphics card which outperforms that of the consoles. That way you are set for that entire console generation and will be playing with better graphics than all your friends."
So if I buy a graphics card like the 7900 GTX, I'll get better graphics than Uncharted 3? I don't think so. It doesn't work like that.
Also, I've built a few PCs myself, and it's not as easy a...
What on earth gives you the idea that the PS4 will be less powerful than the Xbox 720? I would think the reverse situation would be more likely, with Microsoft desperate to avoid another billion-dollar loss due to defective and/or overheating hardware, having learned their lesson via the RROD fiasco. You can only stuff a finite amount of graphical and processing power into a compact box without it overheating, and I'm sure Microsoft is fully aware of this.
Not to mention...
Well, my PC can probably run this on high-performance settings (only thing I'm not sure about is my AMD quad-core, and whether Crysis 3 is CPU-constrained or not).
Whatever the case may be, I'll be too busy playing Far Cry 3 to care about another (relatively) linear, sci-fi shooter. I don't care if the graphics are state-of-the-art and will melt your videocard.
I'm not a COD anti-fanboy at all. I enjoyed COD4 and Black Ops 1 a lot. Of course, the series recently went down the shitter in terms of online gameplay, ever since they added horrible lag compensation to MW3 and Black Ops 2, rendering the game unplayable and rage-inducing at times.
It is also my personal opinion that Battlefield 3 is a far superior game. I don't by any means hate COD on an automatic basis, however. If they can ever patch out the crappy lag of Black O...
Awesome. Now how about a fix for that lag compensation?
Nice heads up. I found it really hard to find any discounts on Black Ops 2 even during Black Friday.
A full-blown MAP CREATOR where you can spend endless amounts of time creating and playing an infinite number of new maps is "COD with a couple added features?"
I guess you'd rather pay $20 every time Activision releases a new map pack for you.
I've been waiting for this game for literally years! A definite GOTY contender in my book.
Oh, people and their high horses.

Are you joking?
Apparently, Mountain Dew isn't an advertiser for this site.
@LOGICWINS:
You're correct that we can't judge a game before playing it, but are we really to assume that Black Ops 2 will be SUCH a drastic departure and improvement from previous Call of Duty games, with core gameplay mechanics that will sway people who are sick and tired of COD already? Anything is possible, but I highly doubt it.
Besides, if we shan't talk about Blops 2, we can certainly talk about MW3, which was complete and total trash accor...
How freaking CONVENIENT that IGN and other gaming media start backlashing against "linear, scripted" game mechanics and storytelling, as soon as Black Ops 2 is supposedly implementing some sandbox elements this year. By the way, sandbox mechanics in FPS are nothing new... they've been around in games like Far Cry and Crysis, and even as far back as Deus Ex and System Shock 2.
Where the freaking HELL was all this hatred and vitriol against linear, scripted shoote...
How is the game harder on the PC, yet the controls are more "tight and responsive?" Wouldn't easier controls make the game easier? Unless they designed the PC game differently and made it harder (which I highly doubt).
Just out of curiosity, did you play the original Max Payne games (1 or 2)?
Cool, I didn't even know they were bringing Mass Effect 1 to PS3. From a lot of people I've talked to, that is the best game in the Mass Effect series, so I look forward to playing it.
I could understand Sony being apathetic towards a PSN user somehow losing his/her free account, but you're paying $60 bones a year for Xbox. Isn't the whole point of paying for a membership to get special treatment and attention?
Hell, just some moderately competent customer service would suffice.
@wane:
I've had my PSN account for 5+ years, and I've never once had it hacked or stolen. *Knock on wood*
Besides, your passwords and credit card info were encrypted in that big PSN hack a few years ago, so there's no evidence that any personal information was ever actually stolen or used for illegitimate purposes.
I think 720p will be the more likely standard. Many games this generation couldn't even do full 720p; they do a sub-HD resolution. So if next-generation consoles could maintain even a 720p standard for every game, that would be a leap and accomplishment in and of itself. Yes, it's sad, I know.
