Looks like another dude-bro shooter.
Can you please tell the creative "geniuses" at Remedy to stop it with the TV nonsense and get back to making actual good games like Max Payne and Alan Wake. My goodness was Quantum Break awful.
Glad you pointed this out, whenever I see people say there is no story I think these people must read at a middle school reading level... the story is deeper than anything I've played in a video game for quite some time.
To each their own but I think this is by far the most artistically pleasing game I've played this generation (outside of Transitor) in terms of visuals. As for the fun factor, I've put 32+ hours into this game and I've had fun the entire adventure... I always get the sense when somebody complains about it not being fun what they really mean is it doesn't hold my hand and give me the exactly same storyline everybody else will experience ala Assassins Creed, Far Cry, GTA, Fallo...
The biggest issue is that Fallout 4 was designed around gameplay mechanics nobody wanted in a Fallout game. First off, it felt like a open world shooter... just about every mission consisting of go here chat to these people who want you to go somewhere else and shoot everything in sight. The other issues being settlement building, which is atrociously implemented to begin with but completely killed the game. And as much as I'd like to say I'm looking forward to a future Fallout gam...
Upon seeing the first reviews come in from haters like Jimquisition who knocked No Man's Sky (5) but thinks Garden Warfare 2 is a near masterpiece (9.5) it immediately struck me that people not enjoying this game are not because of this very subject. They not only want their hand held during gameplay with a lot of mission markers/objectives and trophy pops (you went from point A to point B, have a trophy) but they want to be the "hero". At the end of the day I think they wante...
It would matter to me if every single person on the planet hated it, it would still be my favorite game of this generation hands down.
The overwhelming evidence of poor reviews on this game are people who wanted Assassins Creed in space meaning lots of hand holding during predetermined stories that will be the same for every single person who plays the game.
Without a doubt the first time since I first played Super Mario 64 that I felt like something was really different than anything else I had ever played - my game of the generation so far.
With the exception of a handful of good new IPs this generation it has been very underwhelming, hence the focus on rehashing last generation. I think back to PS3/360 and you had Gears of War, Uncharted, Bioshock, Dead Space, Mass Effect, Borderlands, The Last of Us, Infamous, Batman Arkham, Red Dead Redemption... all stellar first entries. This generation has been short on those kind of new IPs. To be honest, if I was asked to name 5 new IPs that I thought were on par with those listed I...
Microsoft introducing achievements during the 360 days is hands down the worst thing to happen to modern gaming. I would give anything to be able to not only turn off notifications but turn off achievements from my profile all together, same with trophies on the PS4.
Let's start with creating a new Fallout game that eliminates settlement building all together, my god did that ruin the game.
Agree with everything you said, fantastic game where people can't accept that it wasn't Assassins Creed in space or Grand Theft Auto in space. I blame Microsoft for the introduction of achievements to begin with and then Sony feeling the pressure to add trophies by a consumer base addicted to meaningless rewards. It has created an entire generation of gamers that need constant mission objectives/markers with the end goal being a achievements/trophy popping up. No Man's Sky is e...
I wish this version of Fallout would just die and we could get a proper follow-up for Fallout 3/New Vegas... they can start by completely eliminating settlements/building and while they are at it get rid of the synths as well. Geez, I can't even talk about this game without be reminded how horrible it was.
I don't know... I couldn't get back about 10 hours of Destiny before quitting it all together whereas NMS I'm 30 hours in and can't wait for the next 30.
The problem with these average scores is that they are just upset the game doesn't hold their hand where in reality there is so much more to see and do than any open world game I've ever played. Gamespot/Jimquisition/Polygon/ Etc... really just wanted Assassins Creed in space, Far Cry in space, Grand Theft Auto in Space - they can't play a game that doesn't hold their hand.
Think about this for a moment... you actually took time out of your life to post something to hate on a game you were never going to play to make fun of those who are really enjoying it. I feel sorry for you.
LOL, Heat Street. With that said, this is hands down the best game I've played this generation and easily the best new game experience I've had since Super Mario 64. When somebody says this game is boring what they really mean is "boohoo, it doesn't hold my hand."
As much as I love this game (my favorite of this generation) I would like the ability to trade or sell your ship when upgrading. Seems a bit odd that in order to purchase a pricey ship from some random alien you have to just leave yours behind in the hanger without getting one credit for it. Same goes for multitools. Would be kind of nice to be able to just purchase individual slots for ships/tools anyway.
